What you need before you start
A 24/7 education channel is an ongoing operation, not just a playlist set to repeat. You need authorized class recordings, a YouTube channel eligible to stream live, an encoder workflow that can play and transmit those recordings, and someone or something responsible for checking that viewers can still see and hear the stream.

- Recordings and rights records: Know who created each recording and who owns or licenses the class, its contents, and the recorded performance.
- A verified YouTube channel: YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance requires channel verification and no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. YouTube states that people must be at least 16 to live stream.
- An encoder: YouTube supports software encoding and professional-grade hardware encoders. The right choice depends on your source files, operating skills, ability to run continuously, monitoring and recovery plan, and budget. The cited YouTube guidance does not establish a required brand or model.
- A continuity and archive plan: Decide how you will detect a failure, resume streaming, and handle recordings separately from the live feed.
Check permissions for every class and its contents
Do not assume that a recording is free to rebroadcast because it is educational, was used in a classroom, or was supplied by a teacher. Identify the recording producer, teacher, institution, and any other relevant rights holders. For each file, record the permission or licence and its scope, including platform, territory, term, and any limits on public or commercial use.

Inventory more than the lecture video
Check the teacher’s recorded performance and the recording itself, then review the material visible or audible within it. That can include slides, images, music, film or sound excerpts, and student contributions. A class recording may combine works owned by different people; permission to use one part does not necessarily clear the rest.

Consider the India-specific legal context
The Government of India Copyright Office’s published Copyright Act text defines a lecture to include an address, speech, or sermon, and includes communication to the public in a way that can make a work available at individually selected times. The Act also contains provisions concerning performers, including people delivering lectures, and rights relating to recording and communicating performances.
Section 52 lists specific exceptions, including certain fair-dealing uses and reproduction by a teacher or pupil in the course of instruction. Those provisions are not a blanket permission to publish every third-party work in an unrestricted public channel that continuously rebroadcasts classes. The legal result depends on the facts and applicable rights. Obtain written permission from relevant rights holders and seek qualified India-specific advice if ownership or licence scope is uncertain.

Set up the recorded-class live stream
- Choose and prepare the recordings. Build a class inventory and a playback order. Label files with useful details such as subject, teacher, and lesson date. Keep permissions and other rights records alongside the relevant files. Decide whether the stream will play a single lesson, a sequence, or a playlist.
- Prepare the channel. Verify the channel and check that it has no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. Give the channel a clear education identity, and explain who created and authorized the classes. YouTube’s stated minimum age for live streaming is 16.
- Select an encoder workflow. Choose software or a hardware encoder that can play your class files and send the resulting feed reliably. Compare file compatibility, operator familiarity, ability to run continuously, monitoring and recovery options, and total cost. No particular product or configuration is established as necessary by the cited YouTube guidance.
- Create or schedule a stream. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create a stream or schedule one. Set its title, description, visibility, latency, and DVR choices for your use case. Review the options in the current Studio interface before publishing because settings and labels can change.
- Connect the encoder. Copy the server URL and stream key supplied by YouTube into the corresponding encoder fields. Treat the stream key as a credential: do not publish it or share it with people who should not control the stream. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Configure playback and output. Select the class recording or playlist as the encoder’s source, enable looping if you want it to repeat, and configure video and audio output. Follow YouTube’s current encoder guidance for supported output settings; the available evidence here does not establish a universal bitrate, resolution, or keyframe interval for every source and connection.
- Run a private or unlisted test. Start the encoder and check the Live Control Room preview before a public launch. Verify picture, sound, the chosen class order, and playback from the watch page. Test on a phone as well as a computer. YouTube recommends monitoring audio and video quality continuously.
- Launch and verify. When the preview is correct, set the stream’s visibility as intended and start the public feed. Open its watch page as a viewer and confirm that it is actually playing. A successful encoder connection alone does not prove viewers can watch the stream.
Plan stream length and archives separately
YouTube Help’s encoder guidance says, “All streams under 12 hours will be automatically archived.” That condition is for streams under 12 hours; it does not establish that one uninterrupted 24-hour stream will produce a complete automatic archive. If you need retained class recordings, treat archive retention as a separate design requirement, and confirm the current behavior in YouTube Studio before relying on it.

A continuous channel and a complete video archive are different outcomes. Decide how you will preserve or publish the original class files, and whether your operating schedule should use distinct stream sessions. Do not assume that a 24/7 feed will leave a complete, usable recording behind.

Operate the channel with monitoring and recovery
Make the schedule useful to students
Organize the timetable by subject and class, identify teachers and lesson dates, and make the next lesson easy to find. Add original introductions, context, chaptering, or accompanying material where they help viewers understand the lessons. A channel made up of near-identical loops with little distinct value may raise a monetization concern under YouTube’s inauthentic or repetitive content rules.
Check the stream while it is running
- Watch the Live Control Room preview and the public watch page, rather than relying only on the encoder’s status indicator.
- Check audio and picture quality over time and on relevant devices.
- Assign a person or defined process to respond if the encoder stops, playback stalls, sound disappears, or YouTube interrupts the feed.
- After a restart, verify the viewer-facing watch page again and confirm that the intended lesson is playing.
Neither an encoder nor a continuous-stream workflow is a guarantee of uninterrupted service. Your recovery plan should include how to restart a failed encoder and how to confirm that the feed has returned for viewers.

Understand monetization before relying on it
YouTube reviews monetization at the channel level. Its July 15, 2025 policy note renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” and says material should offer distinct creative, educational, or other value. Reused-content policy is separate from copyright enforcement and can apply even when you have permission to use the material. Permission to rebroadcast a class is not, by itself, a guarantee of YouTube Partner Program acceptance.
When eligible and available, live-stream monetization may include ads, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and memberships. YouTube says ads are not guaranteed to serve in every slot. Do not plan on a particular income or treat channel continuity, views, or rights permission as a promise of monetization.

Estimate the operating cost before choosing an encoder
