3. Choose how to run the continuous playlist
Software encoder
A software encoder on a computer is a flexible way to send a playlist with devotional artwork or a visual to YouTube. Configure unattended playback and automatic restart, and account for the computer’s power, heat, and network connection during continuous operation. YouTube supports software encoders; see its encoder setup guidance.
Standalone hardware encoder
A hardware encoder can operate independently of a general-purpose computer, depending on the model and setup. YouTube lists the AJA HELO Plus among hardware encoders for direct YouTube Live streaming. It is an option, not a requirement; check current compatibility and availability before purchasing. 4. Create the YouTube stream and connect the encoder

Open YouTube Studio and go to Create > Go live to enter Live Control Room. Create or schedule the stream, set its title and description, and choose its privacy setting. YouTube’s Live Control Room instructions explain the available setup.

In the stream settings, copy YouTube’s server URL and stream key into the corresponding fields in your encoder. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it, share it publicly, or include it in a screenshot. If exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.

Load the full playlist into the encoder and configure it to repeat continuously. Check that the visual or artwork remains present and that the audio does not stop at track boundaries. The exact looping controls depend on the encoder you choose.

Start the encoder and wait for the incoming signal in Live Control Room. Preview it there before starting the public broadcast.

5. Check bandwidth, playback, and recovery
Use a stable upload connection and allow headroom above the stream’s total bitrate. YouTube recommends upload bandwidth with a 20% margin above the bitrate; its live encoder settings guidance covers stream setup. For example, if your total stream bitrate is 5 Mbps, plan for at least 6 Mbps of available upload capacity, not merely a connection advertised at that speed when other devices are using it.

Preview the stream in Live Control Room, then check the watch page on a phone and another device for audible, uninterrupted playback.

If recording locally, verify that the recording file is growing and has usable audio.

Test what happens if the network briefly drops or the encoder restarts. Confirm that the encoder reconnects and that viewers see a clear handoff rather than a broken or silent stream.

6. Decide how to handle the archive
YouTube automatically archives livestreams shorter than 12 hours. Do not assume one uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast will be preserved in full. If an archive matters, plan shorter broadcast segments or a separate recording workflow, and test any handoff so viewers know what to expect. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.
7. Set audience options and go live
Before launch, review the stream’s title, description, schedule, privacy, and audience settings in Live Control Room. Monetization options such as ads and Super Chat depend on channel eligibility; do not treat them as guaranteed income. Once the preview, rights, and playlist are ready, start the broadcast and monitor it for audio interruptions, encoder disconnections, and YouTube notices.
