To keep a Tamil indie music program live on YouTube around the clock, you need a continuous audio playlist, a visual for the live player, permission to use every element, and a playout system that stays connected. Check YouTube access and clear the programme
Confirm that the channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable and check live access in YouTube Studio before announcing a launch. YouTube supports encoder broadcasts for streams that combine external audio and video or use production elements.

Make an inventory of every track and recording, the underlying compositions, and the artwork or other visuals you plan to show. Confirm that your agreements cover the intended continuous YouTube broadcast, relevant territories, duration, archive or replay, and monetization if applicable. Keep written records. The rights needed depend on the particular catalogue and agreements; being an independent artist, having an artist’s informal permission, or calling a track “copyright-free” does not by itself establish that every right is covered.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. It may replace the programme with a placeholder, warn you, interrupt or terminate the stream, or apply consequences associated with a strike. YouTube for Artists advises coordinating with a label or distributor when using copyright-protected music. That coordination is not proof that the label or distributor controls every necessary right for every track. If a rights owner has licensed the use, ask whether the channel must be added to that owner’s Content ID allowlist: YouTube warns that a licensed stream may still be interrupted if it is not allowlisted.
The applicable rights can depend on the catalogue and territories; the available platform guidance does not establish a blanket licensing rule for Tamil indie music in India or elsewhere. Check the agreements for your actual tracks and intended uses, and get qualified local advice where needed.

Set up a continuous OBS broadcast
1. Prepare the playlist and visual
Organize the tracks in their intended order and check that the playlist continues rather than ending after one pass. Prepare a visual for the live video, such as suitable artwork or a designed programme screen. Clear that material too. Make a short test run to catch gaps, abrupt cuts, missing audio and a frozen or incorrect image before launching the continuous programme.

2. Create the encoder broadcast in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room. Create or schedule an encoder broadcast, then follow Studio’s current prompts for the stream server URL and stream key.
- Open OBS and configure its stream connection. Enter the server URL and key from Live Control Room in OBS’s streaming settings. Interface labels can vary by OBS version; use YouTube’s current encoder workflow if the labels differ.
- Keep the key private. Treat it like a password. Do not put it in a public post, video, screenshot or shared document. If you believe it has been exposed, replace or reset it through the current YouTube Studio controls and update OBS.
- Set up the programme in OBS. Select the audio source that plays the continuous playlist and add the visual source. Check that OBS’s audio meter responds during playback, that the intended picture is visible, and that no unwanted desktop audio or private material is being sent.
- Start the encoder and verify the incoming feed. Start streaming from OBS and check Live Control Room for the incoming video, audio and stream-health status before making the broadcast public or promoting it.
3. Choose sustainable encoder settings
There is no single bitrate or resolution that suits every connection and source. Choose a resolution and frame rate appropriate to the material, then use YouTube’s current encoder recommendations in Live Control Room for bitrate, keyframe interval and other video settings. Set the audio configuration to suit the music source and YouTube’s current guidance. Do not choose settings your actual upstream connection cannot sustain: test the connection and stream health before launch, and lower the load if the feed is unstable. Match the output to the source rather than upscaling a low-resolution visual for its own sake.

4. Test the whole operating plan
Run a private or unlisted test if available in your Studio workflow. Listen on another device and check for missing, distorted or unexpectedly quiet audio; watch for a frozen picture, gaps between tracks and dropped connection warnings. Decide who will check the stream and how often. A local setup needs a plan for power loss, computer restarts, internet outages and playback stopping; OBS cannot keep sending video when its host computer or connection is unavailable.

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its copyright guidance also notes that archived broadcasts can receive Content ID claims after the live stream ends. Do not assume that a 24/7 broadcast will be retained as one complete, uninterrupted recording. Decide whether an archive is wanted, confirm that your permissions cover replay, and check the current Studio workflow for segmenting or handling a long-running stream.

Troubleshoot common failures
- Live access is missing: verify the channel and check for a live-stream restriction in YouTube Studio. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours for it to become available.
- Studio does not receive OBS: check that OBS has the current server URL and stream key from the intended Live Control Room broadcast, that streaming has actually started, and that the computer is online. Replace a key that may have been exposed.
- Stream health is poor or the feed drops: check the computer’s network connection and whether it can sustain the chosen output. Reduce the encoder load to a level the connection can maintain, then test again before relying on the stream.
- There is video but no music, or music but no picture: check OBS’s audio meter and selected audio source, then confirm the visual source is visible in the scene. Verify both in the incoming Studio preview.
- YouTube interrupts the programme over music: review the track and rights records, contact the relevant rights owner or label, and ask about Content ID allowlisting for the channel. A licence does not necessarily prevent interruption if the owner’s allowlist process applies.
- The archive is missing or incomplete: check the broadcast duration and current Studio archive handling. Do not treat a stream lasting 12 hours or more as guaranteed to produce one complete automatic archive.
