To run meditation music or bhajans as a continuous YouTube live stream, send a live audio-and-visual feed to YouTube using an encoder or a cloud streaming service. A YouTube playlist page alone is not a live broadcast. Before starting, confirm your channel is eligible, clear the rights for every recording, test the complete stream, and decide how you will handle replays: a single stream longer than 12 hours may not be archived.
What you need for a continuous devotional stream
Plan four pieces: a YouTube channel eligible to go live, audio and visuals you have permission to broadcast, a way to send a live feed, and a tested internet connection at the sending end. The visuals might be a still image or other appropriate video layer, but the feed must combine them with your audio. YouTube documents encoder, mobile, webcam, and console methods; for a playlist-like devotional feed, an encoder-based workflow is the relevant option. A computer is one possible setup, not a universal requirement.

YouTube’s current eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days; live streamers must be at least 16. Check the current YouTube live-stream setup requirements before scheduling.

Software encoder on a computer
A software encoder combines your chosen audio and visual layer and sends the resulting feed to YouTube Live. It can be a practical fit if you already have suitable equipment and know how to configure it. Compare the computer’s initial cost, your familiarity with the workflow, the resolution and bitrate you need, local recording options, and how you will recover if the computer, power, or network fails.

Hardware encoder
YouTube also supports hardware encoders. This avoids relying on a general-purpose computer for encoding, but you still need to choose and configure equipment appropriate to your stream, network, and operational needs. YouTube’s official guidance does not establish a particular device, price, or uptime guarantee. Review its live-stream tips and encoder setup instructions for the supported workflow.
Cloud streaming
A cloud service can keep uploaded videos playing without leaving a home computer running. StreamNeo is an option for YouTube: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Its stream runs from the cloud rather than from your local computer. The cloud option and a local encoder solve the same continuity problem differently; consider cost, the workflow you want, and your need for local recordings.

Clear music rights before you go live
Do not assume a bhajan, meditation track, or recording is free to rebroadcast because it is traditional, labelled “free,” available on YouTube, or credited in your description. Rights can differ between a composition and a particular sound recording. Confirm that your permission covers the intended live use, relevant territories, monetization if applicable, and any replay or video-on-demand use you intend to offer. Check attribution requirements and how the rights holder handles Content ID allowlisting.
YouTube puts responsibility on the creator to have the necessary rights for live content, including music licensing rights. Its live-stream terms say: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” YouTube also scans live streams for third-party content. A licensed stream can still be interrupted if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. See YouTube’s live-stream terms, its guidance on copyright issues with live streams, and YouTube’s safe-music guidance.

Create the live event and connect your encoder
- Prepare the feed. Choose the authorized audio, visual layer, resolution, and bitrate. Check that the music and visuals are both covered by your permissions.
- Create or schedule the event in YouTube Studio. Open the Live Control Room and create or schedule a live stream. Choose the stream settings for your intended output.
- Copy the stream URL and key into your encoder. Use the stream URL and key provided for the event. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your stream. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Start the encoder and inspect the preview. Confirm that YouTube receives the picture and sound in the Live Control Room before you start the public broadcast.
- Start the live event and verify the watch page. Check that viewers can hear the audio clearly and see the intended visuals on desktop and mobile.
Use YouTube’s encoder setup guide and stream settings guidance for the current controls and encoder configuration.
Set and test the signal quality
For general RTMP/RTMPS encoder settings, YouTube’s guidance specifies stereo audio at 128 Kbps and recommends a keyframe every 2 seconds, not exceeding 4 seconds. Match the encoder’s resolution, frame rate, and bitrate to the settings you select for the event; use YouTube’s current stream settings rather than guessing a value for your network or content. These are platform specifications and guidance, not a guarantee that a particular connection will sustain the stream.

YouTube recommends retaining 20% upload-bandwidth headroom above the stream’s bitrate. Test the actual connection and complete audio/video chain before relying on it unattended. A high upload speed reading alone does not prove that the connection will remain stable during a long broadcast. Follow YouTube’s streaming tips and its live-streaming tips.
Plan how viewers will watch and how you will keep the stream running
Monitor the live broadcast
- Check YouTube’s Live Control Room health and preview, and periodically inspect the public watch page.
- Listen to the audio and confirm the visual layer is still present; a live status indicator does not confirm that the content is right or audible.
- Have a recovery plan for power, network, encoder, and rights-related interruptions. The recovery method depends on the equipment or service you choose.
- Keep a local recording if you need a dependable copy for editing or replay; a live archive is not a substitute for a recording you control.
Do not rely on one 24-hour broadcast for a complete replay
YouTube says a stream under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. DVR rewind may also be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. If complete replay coverage matters, plan separate sessions and/or make local recordings, then validate your schedule against YouTube’s current settings. Read the current archive guidance and DVR limits.

Troubleshoot common failures
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube does not receive a signal | The encoder is not sending, or the event’s stream URL or key is incorrect. | Confirm the event is open, recheck the URL and key in YouTube Studio and the encoder, and inspect the Live Control Room preview. Replace the key if it may have been exposed. |
| Audio or visuals are missing | The source, encoder scene, or audio/video routing is not configured as intended. | Check the feed in the encoder preview and YouTube preview, then verify the public watch page on desktop and mobile before relying on the stream. |
| The stream buffers or becomes unstable | The sending connection may lack bandwidth headroom or be inconsistent. | Test the actual upload connection, reduce the output demand if needed, and retain YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom above the stream bitrate. |
| A licensed song is interrupted | Content ID may detect third-party material, and the rights holder may not have allowlisted the channel. | Contact the rights holder or licensing provider to verify live-use coverage and Content ID allowlisting. Do not assume a credit or “free” label resolves the claim. |
| The full-day stream has no complete replay | YouTube may not capture streams exceeding 12 hours, and DVR may be limited for streams longer than 12 hours. | Use planned shorter sessions and/or make a local recording when full replay coverage is required. |
