First, clear the music rights. FFmpeg can loop files and send a feed to YouTube, but it cannot grant permission to broadcast Kannada film songs. Before building the stream, confirm that you have the necessary rights for each recording, territory, continuous live transmission and any retained archive. Then prepare compatible media, create a YouTube Live event, configure and test FFmpeg, and plan how to monitor and recover the service. A 24/7 stream is an operating plan—not something one command can guarantee.
Can you legally stream Kannada film songs on YouTube?
Only if you have the necessary rights for the specific recordings and uses. YouTube’s Livestream terms and conditions require the rights needed to exploit live content on Google services, including applicable music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants. The relevant rights can vary by song, recording, territory and term. Confirm in writing that your permissions cover continuous live streaming and whether they also cover a saved or archived stream.

Buying a song, finding a download online, crediting the artists or running the channel without a profit does not, by itself, establish broadcast permission. YouTube says it scans all live streams for matches to third-party content. A match may cause a warning, a placeholder to replace the stream, or an interruption or termination. YouTube also cautions that a licensed stream can still be interrupted if the channel is not on the rights owner’s Content ID allowlist. If a rights owner uses Content ID, make channel allowlisting a documented launch check; do not assume a license automatically adds it.

- Keep a track-level record of the rights holder, covered territory and term, live-stream permission, archive permission and written evidence.
- Ask the relevant rights holder how its Content ID policy applies to the channel and obtain any required allowlisting before going live.
- If you cannot verify rights for a track, leave it out. YouTube’s guidance does not identify who controls the rights to any particular Kannada song or recording.

Prepare a library and a playlist FFmpeg can repeat
Check your actual files
Use authorized master files and check that the FFmpeg build installed on the streaming machine can read every file. Inspect the playlist order and test the start, end and transition of each item. The FFmpeg concat demuxer can join media files, but it is most suitable when their stream layouts and timing are compatible. Different codecs, stream layouts, time bases or timestamps can cause errors, bad transitions or playback problems. If files vary, test the full set and consider normalizing or transcoding them to a consistent format before relying on concatenation. Do not assume transitions will be gapless.
Create a concat playlist
For compatible files, create a plain-text file such as playlist.txt with one entry per item, in the order you want them played:

file 'song-003.mp4'Paths are relative to the working directory in this example. Use correctly escaped paths if filenames contain characters that have special meaning in the concat list, or use tested absolute paths with the appropriate safety setting. The example assumes video files with audio. If your library contains audio-only tracks, supply a suitable video image or visual source and test the resulting video and audio streams; the playlist alone does not create a video picture.

Create the YouTube Live event and protect its key
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room. Create or schedule the stream using the current controls shown for your account.
- Retrieve the ingest address and stream key. Use the current stream URL and key provided in the event’s setup. YouTube recommends RTMPS, its encrypted extension to RTMP, and says to obtain the secure URL in Live Control Room.
- Keep the key secret. Treat it like a password: do not put it in a public script, playlist, screenshot or shared log. Store it in a protected configuration or secret store, restrict access to the streaming process, and reset it in YouTube if it is exposed.
- Check the event’s output requirements. Use YouTube’s current encoder-settings guidance for the resolution, frame rate, codec and available upload bandwidth you intend to use. Confirm the protocol and ingest details in Live Control Room rather than relying on an old saved key or endpoint.
Set FFmpeg output for YouTube Live
YouTube’s published encoder guidance lists supported codecs and settings, recommends constant bitrate (CBR), and recommends a two-second keyframe interval. Choose the resolution and bitrate from the current YouTube guidance for that output; there is no single bitrate that is correct for every resolution and frame rate. Make sure the connection’s sustained upload capacity can carry the selected stream reliably, with headroom for normal network variation.
The following is a configuration template, not a verified drop-in command. Replace the variables with values that match the current YouTube recommendations and your input files. Use the exact ingest URL/key format shown for your event. This example uses H.264 video and AAC audio; verify that these choices, the container and all other output settings are accepted for your account and selected stream.

It is an input option, so it appears before the input it applies to.-f concat -i playlist.txtselects the concat demuxer and its playlist.-safe 0permits paths the concat demuxer would otherwise reject; use it only with a playlist you control.-c:v, bitrate and buffer options configure video encoding. Set the GOP size so keyframes are two seconds apart at the chosen output frame rate; for a fixed frame rate, that means two times the frames per second. Confirm the resulting interval with a preview or stream-health information.-c:a,-b:aand-arconfigure audio encoding. Fill them using current YouTube guidance and check the source audio; do not assume a setting suits every file or event.-f flvselects the output format used with the RTMP/RTMPS ingest workflow. SetYOUTUBE_INGEST_WITH_KEYusing the exact URL/key arrangement provided for the event, and do not print the secret value in shared logs.
These options do not make mismatched files compatible, create a visual stream from audio-only material, guarantee seamless joins, or ensure the connection stays online. Test the exact command with the exact FFmpeg build and library you plan to use. FFmpeg’s documentation describes both the concat demuxer and input looping; its FIFO muxer also has recovery options, but those are not an end-to-end uptime guarantee.

Test before making the stream public
- Start with a private or unlisted test event if the current YouTube controls allow it, and verify that FFmpeg connects to the intended event.
- Check the Live Control Room preview for both picture and sound, then view the watch page from a separate device or network.
- Test multiple track changes, including files with different durations and any formats that could challenge the concat playlist. Listen for silence, clipping, unexpected gaps and abrupt level changes.
- Confirm that any visual slate or video source is present throughout, including between tracks.
- Observe YouTube’s stream-health information and verify that the selected output settings are accepted before you schedule public operation.
- Test what happens when a source file is missing or unreadable, the network drops, FFmpeg exits, or the ingest connection is interrupted. Verify both the recovery behavior and the alert that will tell an operator something failed.
YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends testing and monitoring. A preview is useful, but it does not establish that the stream will remain uninterrupted for days.
Keep the process running and plan for recovery
A 24/7 setup needs more than an FFmpeg process: it needs a reliable host and network, process supervision, alerts, and a person or procedure to respond. FFmpeg’s FIFO muxer includes options to attempt recovery after output failures and wait before retrying. Configure and test recovery with your actual output path; a retry feature cannot repair every failure.
- Supervision: use an operating-system service manager or another process supervisor to detect an exited process and apply a tested restart policy.
- Alerts: monitor the FFmpeg process and YouTube stream health, and route failures to someone who can act on them.
- Storage and inputs: check free disk space, playlist paths, file readability and host health. A missing or damaged source can prevent a loop from continuing as intended.
- Network and credentials: investigate upload instability and ingest errors; update the protected key configuration if a key is reset or rotated.
- Recovery tests: confirm that a reconnect works without exposing the key, duplicating events or leaving a silent feed on air.
A power loss, host or server outage, exhausted disk, broken file, network problem, changed credential or YouTube interruption can still stop the stream. Do not describe a tested retry mechanism as guaranteed uptime.

Decide how to handle long-running events and archives
YouTube’s encoder setup article says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not infer from that statement that one event will run indefinitely or that a continuous stream will be archived in the way you need. Check the current behavior and limits in your account, decide whether to operate scheduled sessions or create fresh events, and document how each transition will be monitored. If you need an archive, confirm that your music permissions cover retention as well as live transmission.
