Enable livestreaming ahead of time, test the stream as unlisted, and plan how you will monitor interruptions. A 24-hour broadcast is not guaranteed to produce one complete automatic replay.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel that is verified and has no livestreaming restrictions in the previous 90 days.
- An encoder-based setup that can send your chosen audio and display the album art. OBS Studio is one software option; YouTube also supports encoders generally, and the reviewed guidance does not require OBS or particular hardware.
- Permission for both the music and the artwork. Having an audio file or image does not by itself give you the right to livestream it.
- A plan to keep the encoder and its connection running, notice problems, and respond if YouTube interrupts the stream.
YouTube for Artists advises first-time streamers to enable livestreaming at least 24 hours before going live. Start this process early rather than treating channel activation as a last-minute setup step.

How do I set up a 24/7 live stream on YouTube?

Enable livestreaming
In YouTube Studio, confirm that the channel is verified and eligible to livestream. If this is the channel’s first livestream, allow at least 24 hours for activation, following YouTube for Artists’ guidance.

Prepare the encoder scene
In your encoder, make the album-art image the visible source and route the planned music audio into the stream. Check that the image is actually visible in the encoder preview and that the audio source is active. YouTube’s reviewed guidance does not prescribe a specific still-image resolution, motion treatment, or layout for this use case, so do not assume that a particular album-art format is a platform requirement.

Keep the image on screen for the duration of the broadcast. If you later add animation, video, or other visual material, check that you have rights to those assets too.

Create the event and connect the encoder
In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room, configure the live event, and connect your encoder using the stream key provided for that stream. Treat the key as private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to your event. Confirm that the Live Control Room shows the incoming stream before proceeding.

Test privately before launch
Set up an unlisted test stream, as YouTube for Artists recommends. Check the incoming picture and sound in the Live Control Room, then open the watch page and confirm that playback looks and sounds as intended. A preview in the encoder alone does not confirm that the audience-facing YouTube stream is working.

Start the public broadcast and monitor it
Once the test is satisfactory, switch to the planned public event. Keep someone able to notice interruptions and take action, and have a way to stop or replace audio that causes a rights issue. A nominally continuous setup still needs an operational plan for encoder, connection, or platform problems.
Choose a setup you can actually monitor
For a 24/7 run, the practical choice is not simply software versus hardware. Consider who will notice a failure, how familiar they are with the encoder, and what they can do to recover. Computer-hosted software encoding may suit a team comfortable operating that software; dedicated hardware may suit a team more familiar with that equipment. The reviewed guidance does not establish that one approach is required or inherently better.
Likewise, one long broadcast and shorter scheduled segments involve different trade-offs. A single run offers continuity, while segmenting changes the restart and monitoring workload and affects the length of any individual archive. YouTube’s archive guidance makes duration relevant, but does not prescribe a segment schedule for this kind of channel.

Can I livestream Indian songs on YouTube with album art?
Only if you have the necessary rights for the particular music and image. An Indian music stream can involve rights in the underlying musical or literary work as well as rights in the specific sound recording. India’s Copyright Act describes rights in musical works and sound recordings that include communicating them to the public; that general framework does not determine which permissions apply to a particular catalogue or YouTube broadcast.
Before launch, identify each recording and the associated composition, then confirm that permissions cover the intended livestream, territories, any archive or replay, and monetization. Check who controls the relevant rights and keep written permission records. Ask the relevant label, distributor, publisher, recording owner, or an India-qualified music-rights professional about the specific works and agreements. Do not assume that a statutory provision, collecting-society payment, or platform account automatically clears every right needed for your stream.
Allowlisting is separate from having a licence
YouTube says it scans livestreams for third-party content. A detected match may lead to a placeholder image and warning, and continued use may interrupt or terminate the stream. YouTube Help also warns that a stream may be interrupted even when the creator has licensed the content if the rights owner has not added the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Coordinate any required allowlisting with the rights owner before launch and test the channel. Permission and allowlisting address different practical issues; neither makes uninterrupted streaming certain.

Clear the album art too
Use artwork you have the right to display in the stream. Give credit where the licence or agreement requires it, but attribution is not a substitute for permission. Rights to the still image do not clear the music, and rights to the music do not automatically clear the image.
Plan for the replay separately
YouTube’s official live-production guide says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived and advises separately recording longer streams when an uploadable replay is needed. Do not rely on a single 24-hour broadcast to produce one complete automatic archive. If a complete replay matters, arrange a separate recording and decide how it will be handled before going live.
Settings and limits to verify rather than guess
The official sources reviewed for this setup do not establish a universal bitrate, resolution, keyframe interval, upload-speed minimum, computer specification, playlist length, or UPS capacity for a 24/7 Indian music stream with album art. They also do not promise uninterrupted uptime. Avoid copying a setting from an unrelated setup as if it were a YouTube rule: consult the current encoder and YouTube guidance for your actual stream, then test the full path from encoder to watch page.
YouTube for Artists reported that over 30% of daily logged-in YouTube viewers watched live content in Q2 2025. That is a platform-wide figure, not an India-specific audience estimate or a prediction for an individual music channel.

- The stream stops during a long run: use the monitoring and recovery plan established for your encoder and connection. The reviewed sources do not provide a universal hardware, network, or uptime guarantee for this scenario.
- The 24-hour replay is incomplete or unavailable: YouTube’s guidance distinguishes streams under 12 hours from longer broadcasts. Use a separate recording when a complete replay is important.
