You can run a continuous Indian ghazal stream by sending an OBS encoder feed to YouTube Live, but clear the music and visuals for that exact use before you start. You need rights for the sound recordings and the underlying compositions and lyrics, as well as a computer, reliable power and internet, an authorized audio playlist, and a plan for monitoring interruptions. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, and a stream running longer than 12 hours may not be saved as a complete replay.
Clear the ghazal recordings and visuals before configuring OBS
Do not assume that a track is cleared because it is available online, you bought a copy, a rights organization approved one part of it, or you found it in a repertoire search. A ghazal recording can involve separate rights in the sound recording and in the musical and literary works. IPRS describes its remit as covering musical works and associated literary works, while sound-recording rights are administered by recording owners; its repertoire database may not be exhaustive. YouTube’s Live Stream Terms and Conditions place responsibility on the stream provider to have the necessary rights for use on Google services worldwide and to comply with applicable law. Permissions should explicitly cover continuous YouTube live transmission, territories, monetization, and archived playback. A licence does not necessarily stop automated enforcement: YouTube says live broadcasts are scanned for third-party content, and a rights holder may need to allowlist your channel through Content ID. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
For Indian repertoire, do not treat the IPRS INTB tariff as blanket permission for an individual YouTube channel. That document is scoped to non-interactive internet music streaming services and does not, by itself, settle whether a specific channel or catalogue falls within its terms. If the rights or scope are unclear, get written, use-specific advice from the rights holders and, where necessary, an India-qualified music-rights professional.

Make a track-by-track rights checklist
Before building the playlist, make a record for each track of the recording owner, composition and lyric rights holders, source file, permitted territories, live-use permission, archive permission, monetization terms, attribution requirements, and a contact for Content ID issues. Apply the same review to the artwork, photographs, video loops, and any text or graphics shown on screen. Ask rights holders specifically whether they will allowlist your channel if their Content ID system requires it. YouTube for Artists recommends coordinating with a label or distributor when using copyright-protected music; its Going Live for Music Channels resource also covers preparation for a music broadcast.
Prepare YouTube Live and rehearse before launch
If this is your channel’s first live stream, YouTube for Artists says to verify the account and enable live streaming at least 24 hours before the planned broadcast. Schedule time for an unlisted rehearsal rather than discovering setup or rights problems after announcing a 24/7 channel.
- Check channel readiness: verify the account and enable live streaming in YouTube Studio. Allow at least 24 hours for first-time activation, as recommended by YouTube for Artists.
- Open the Live Control Room: follow the current prompts to create or prepare a stream and obtain the encoder destination and stream key. Interface labels and options can change, so use what the account displays.
- Protect the stream key: enter it only in OBS’s streaming configuration. Treat it like a password; anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your broadcast. If exposed, replace it through YouTube Studio before resuming.
- Rehearse unlisted: check that the correct audience can play the stream, the audio is clear and at a sensible level, the visual is authorized, the metadata is accurate, and YouTube Studio reports a healthy incoming stream. Confirm your rights-holder contact and response plan.
Build the OBS scene and keep the audio source dependable
Use an OBS scene with a static image or gentle motion if that suits the channel, plus any title or artwork you are permitted to display. Add the authorized local audio file or playlist as an OBS audio source. Keep the source files available to the computer for the entire broadcast and test what happens when one track ends and the next begins. The workflow here is intentionally not tied to a particular OBS menu label: the YouTube sources establish encoder requirements, not a version-specific OBS playlist tutorial.

Do not substitute a consumer music service, another YouTube stream, or a recording you found online for written clearance. Verify that your playlist does not stall at the end or switch to material outside the cleared catalogue. For a continuous stream, keep a local copy of authorized source audio and visual assets so that a missing network-mounted file or disconnected device does not silently end playback.
Set OBS to YouTube’s supported encoder requirements
In OBS, configure the stream destination and key using the current YouTube Live Control Room instructions, then choose settings the computer and internet connection can sustain continuously. YouTube documents RTMP and RTMPS ingest, H.264, H.265, and AV1 video options, AAC or MP3 audio, constant bitrate (CBR), and a recommended two-second keyframe interval (no more than four seconds). YouTube recommends automatic resolution and frame-rate detection by default. Check the current YouTube encoder settings, bitrate, and resolution guidance before going live, since platform options can change.
For an audio-led ghazal channel, 4K video is not necessary simply because it is available. A modest still or low-motion visual at a stable resolution can reduce load on the encoder and connection. YouTube’s published H.264 examples include these values; they are platform recommendations, not measurements from a test of your setup:

YouTube lists 128 kbps for stereo audio. Choose a video bitrate within the published range that your connection can sustain with margin for normal fluctuations; a connection that only barely reaches the target can still drop frames or disconnect. Use CBR and a two-second keyframe interval unless the current YouTube instructions for your chosen encoder profile say otherwise.
Keep the broadcast live and plan for failure
A 24/7 local OBS stream depends on the encoder computer, OBS, the audio source, power, network, and continuing rights all remaining available. Keep the computer from sleeping, ensure automatic updates or scheduled restarts will not interrupt the session, and monitor both OBS and YouTube Studio. Assign someone to respond to a dropped connection, a rights warning, or an exhausted or stalled playlist. There is no basis to promise uninterrupted service from a particular computer or connection.
- Power interruption: an optional UPS may bridge some short outages, but it does not solve an internet outage and does not guarantee continuity.
- Network interruption: check the upload connection and avoid other heavy uploads. If the feed drops, inspect OBS and the Live Control Room before restarting; confirm that the stream is live again to viewers.
- Rights interruption: do not assume that a licence alone prevents a Content ID interruption. Contact the rights holder and request channel allowlisting where their system requires it.
- Source interruption: verify the authorized playlist continues past track boundaries and that source files remain accessible for the entire run.
- Local recording: if you need an independent archive, record locally and confirm the storage capacity required for your chosen encoding duration and quality.
Do not rely on a 24-hour YouTube replay
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. A continuous 24-hour broadcast therefore is not a dependable way to create one complete replay. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup. If a public replay matters, plan local recording or divide the programming into separate streams shorter than 12 hours, while checking the current YouTube archive guidance.

Cost and equipment to plan for
With local OBS, the main cost may be equipment and the ongoing electricity and internet needed to keep it available; a reader with a suitable existing computer may not need to buy one. The cited sources do not establish a minimum computer specification, so check that the machine can run OBS and encode your selected profile reliably. An external drive is useful if you need a local replay backup, but size it for the bitrate and recording duration you choose. A UPS is optional protection against some short power interruptions, not a requirement or an internet backup.
Compare a local encoder with a hosted option by who maintains the computer, continuous operating costs, monitoring and recovery, network and power reliability, handling of rights notices, and whether you need a replay. Verify any hosted encoder’s current OBS or YouTube support, continuous-operation options, monitoring, recovery and charges before relying on it.

Troubleshooting common 24/7 stream problems
- YouTube does not accept the stream: confirm live streaming is enabled, the correct current stream key and destination are configured, and the chosen encoder and settings are supported. For first-time channel activation, allow the 24-hour enablement period.
