You can turn recorded homework-help tutorials into a 24/7 YouTube Live stream by sending them as a continuous feed from an encoder. Schedule the stream in YouTube Studio if you want an upcoming watch page, then run a playlist-capable encoder on a computer that stays powered and connected—or upload the videos to a cloud service that streams them for you. Scheduling alone does not start the feed.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel that is eligible to live stream. YouTube’s general live-streaming requirements say the channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. Check the channel’s current status in YouTube Studio because feature access can depend on channel status. YouTube live-streaming eligibility.
- Recorded tutorials and audio you own or have permission to broadcast. Live-stream rights rules apply to prerecorded material too.
- An encoder that can play and repeat a playlist, plus either a computer that can remain on and connected or a cloud playlist service.
- Your YouTube Live server URL and stream key. Treat the key like a password: someone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your channel.
You do not need a webcam or microphone to loop prerecorded lessons. Add live hosting equipment only if you plan to appear or speak during the broadcast.
Prepare the tutorials and playlist
Check rights and organize lessons
Use original lesson video, narration, diagrams, examples, and music, or secure permission for any third-party material. For a homework-help channel, group lessons by subject, grade or level, or problem type so a viewer who joins midstream can find relevant material. That organization is a viewer-friendly choice, not a YouTube requirement.
Make the prerecorded format clear
Use a title and description that accurately explain the stream’s subject and say that it plays prerecorded tutorials on repeat. Avoid implying that a live teacher is answering questions in real time if nobody is doing so. A useful playlist should work in any starting position: include each lesson’s topic on screen or in its opening, and avoid relying on the previous video for context.

Create the YouTube Live stream
- Open Live Control Room: In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live. Use the Stream tab to set up a stream, or select Manage → Schedule Stream to arrange one in advance. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance is at Set up your encoder for live streaming.
- Set the stream details: Enter a clear title and description, choose the relevant audience and visibility settings, and use an appropriate category and thumbnail. Do not label a loop as a live class unless it actually includes live instruction.
- Schedule if useful: A scheduled stream can create an upcoming watch page and let viewers request reminders. Scheduling is promotion and planning; it does not generate the video feed.
- Copy the connection details: Copy the Live server URL and stream key shown in YouTube’s setup and enter them in the encoder. Keep the key private. If it is exposed, reset it in the Live Control Room before broadcasting again.
- Start the encoder: The encoder creates the watch page/feed connection when it begins sending content. Confirm that YouTube receives the signal and that the preview looks and sounds right before relying on the stream.
Choose where the playlist runs
| Approach | How it works | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Local computer and encoder | A playlist-capable encoder plays the tutorial files and sends the live feed to YouTube. | The computer, power, network connection, and encoder must stay available. You are responsible for playback and recovering the stream after a failure. |
| Cloud playlist service | You upload tutorial files, arrange playback, and the service sends the feed from its infrastructure. | Plan limits, cost, file retention, supported formats, reconnect behavior, and privacy terms differ by provider; check the current terms before choosing one. |
Local computer: keep playback and sending active
Choose an encoder with playlist playback and repeat controls. Load the lesson files in the intended order, enable looping, and enter the YouTube server URL and key. Set the encoder’s output to suit your source video and connection, then verify that playback advances from one tutorial to the next and returns to the beginning. Keep the host computer awake, the encoder running, and the network connected for the full broadcast. A dedicated mini PC is optional; an existing compatible computer may work, but the encoder and chosen video settings must be supported by it.
A local encoder gives you direct control over media and stream settings, but YouTube does not guarantee that your computer, connection, or encoder will keep running. Plan how you will notice and recover from power loss, internet outages, software crashes, or a playlist that stops.

Cloud option: outsource continuous playback
A cloud playlist service can keep the feed running without your personal computer remaining online. Compare the current plan and terms for storage, supported video formats and quality, playlist behavior, reconnection, retention, and cancellation. Vendor pages describe their own workflows; those descriptions are not independent verification of uptime or service quality.
Test the stream before leaving it unattended
- Run a representative test: Use lessons with audio and movement similar to the material you plan to stream. YouTube recommends testing with representative content and checking stream health and messages. See YouTube encoder settings.
- Check the viewer experience: Open the channel or scheduled watch page and verify the stream on a phone as well as the device used for setup. Confirm that the title and description accurately explain the prerecorded loop.
- Listen and watch: Check dialogue clarity, music levels, picture quality, and transitions between files. Confirm there is no unintended silence, black screen, or abrupt cut at the loop point.
- Check stream health: Review YouTube’s status and messages while the test runs. YouTube’s live tips advise checking the channel/watch page, mobile access, and audio/video quality throughout the stream. See YouTube live streaming tips.
- Verify continuity: Let the playlist reach its end and restart, if practical. A successful start does not prove that looping or long-duration playback works correctly.
Plan for archives and interruptions
YouTube’s encoder setup instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That is an archive rule, not evidence that a continuous stream must stop at 12 hours or that an indefinitely long stream will be archived. If you need a replay, check YouTube’s current archive behavior and plan separately for how your encoder or provider handles long-running broadcasts, interruptions, and restarts. Do not assume that a stream will recover automatically unless the chosen setup provides that behavior.

Copyright, originality, and monetization
Broadcast rights still apply
YouTube requires creators to have the necessary rights for live content, including music licensing rights where applicable. A lesson being educational does not by itself establish permission to rebroadcast its music, clips, diagrams, or other third-party material. YouTube’s guidance says: “Be your original creation. If you borrow content from someone else, you need to change it significantly to make it your own.” See YouTube channel monetization policies.
A repeat loop is not a monetization shortcut
YouTube’s monetization policy applies to live streams. In a notice dated July 15, 2025, YouTube said it renamed “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content” to clarify that repetitive or mass-produced content is ineligible; it said this content was already ineligible under the existing policy. Monetized content should be original and authentic, not mass-produced, generic, repetitive, or manipulative. Looping is a distribution format, not a substitute for originality or a guarantee of monetization eligibility.

If a channel is eligible, monetization options can include ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships. Ads are not guaranteed to serve in every slot, so stream duration alone is not a sound basis for forecasting revenue. YouTube reported an average uplift of over 20% in instream ad revenue per hour for channels that turned on live automatic mid-roll ads compared with channels that did not, averaged across 207 countries in January 2024. This is a historical platform-reported comparison, not a forecast for a new homework-help channel. Details: YouTube live automatic mid-roll ads.

Troubleshoot common failures
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube shows no incoming feed | The encoder is not sending, or the server URL/key is incorrect. | Check that the encoder is running and connected, then compare its server URL and stream key with the current values in YouTube Live Control Room. If the key may have been exposed, reset it and update the encoder. |
| Stream starts but picture or sound is poor | The source, encoder output, or connection may not sustain the selected settings. | Review YouTube’s stream-health messages, test representative clips, and check picture and audio on the watch page and a phone. Use the encoder settings guidance from YouTube. |
| Playback stops at the end of a lesson or playlist | Playlist repeat may be disabled or unsupported in the current playback setup. | Enable looping in the encoder or service and run a test through the end of the playlist and back to its first item. |
| The stream disappears after a power or network interruption | The local host or connection stopped sending, or the setup did not reconnect. | Restore power/network, restart the encoder if needed, and confirm the feed returns in Live Control Room. Check the chosen encoder or provider’s reconnect behavior rather than assuming recovery. |
| A replay is unavailable after a long broadcast | The automatic archive guidance applies to streams under 12 hours, and a continuous stream’s archive outcome is not established by that rule. | Plan archive and replay needs separately; check current YouTube behavior and the selected setup’s handling of long broadcasts. |
| A tutorial receives a rights complaint or monetization is limited | The video may contain material without broadcast rights, or a repetitive loop may not meet originality requirements. | Review the rights for every audio and visual element, remove or replace material you cannot use, and assess the channel against YouTube’s current monetization policies. |
