Clear the music rights before you build the stream
For the question “can I play songs on a YouTube live stream?”, the practical answer is only if you have the necessary rights for livestreaming those recordings. A licence to listen, download, or use a track in a different context may not cover a continuous YouTube broadcast. The rights can involve recordings, compositions, publishers, labels, artists, and public performance permissions.

YouTube’s livestream terms say: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” Read YouTube’s livestream terms.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match can trigger interruption, and YouTube warns that licensed content may still be interrupted if the channel is not allowlisted: “If your channel isn’t added to their allowlist, your live stream can be interrupted even if you’ve licensed the third-party content.” See YouTube’s copyright guidance. Rights clearance and Content ID allowlisting are separate checks: ask the rights holder whether your channel must be allowlisted, and get confirmation before going live. Haryanvi recordings do not all have the same owner, and no single licence can be assumed to cover a whole genre or playlist.

Check that your channel can livestream
YouTube requires the channel to be verified, to have no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and the creator to be at least 16. The first time you enable live streaming, activation can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave this until the planned launch. Review YouTube’s live-streaming setup requirements and enable the feature while logged into the channel you intend to use.
Create the stream in YouTube Studio

Open YouTube Studio and choose Create > Go live. Create or schedule an encoder stream. The exact screen details can change, but use the encoder/live control room rather than starting a mobile or webcam broadcast.

Enter a clear title and description that accurately describe the Haryanvi music and identify the channel. Choose the intended visibility—public, unlisted for a test, or private where available—and set any audience and scheduling options accurately.

In the stream settings, copy the YouTube server URL and stream key. The key routes an encoder feed to your channel: treat it like a password. Do not paste it in public chats, screenshots, or descriptions. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio before the next broadcast.

Keep the Studio control room open. Once OBS connects, use the preview and stream-health indicators to verify the incoming feed before starting the public broadcast.
Set up OBS to send authorized audio and video

Install and open OBS on the computer that will run the stream. In Settings > Stream, select YouTube if the available integration suits your setup, or select a custom service and enter the server URL and stream key copied from YouTube Studio. OBS labels can differ by version; use the values shown in your Studio control room.

Create a scene for the broadcast. Add only audio files you have cleared for livestreaming. Add a visual source you are entitled to use, such as a still image or a simple visualizer; make sure the image, logos, lyrics, and artwork are cleared too. Do not rebroadcast someone else’s YouTube upload or capture it from a browser as a substitute for rights.

In Settings > Output, configure the streaming encoder and bitrate for the resolution and frame rate you plan to send. Set rate control to CBR and keyframe interval to 2 seconds. YouTube advises against intervals over four seconds. Use a supported codec and verify that the selected encoder can sustain it on your hardware.

In Settings > Video, select the output resolution and frame rate appropriate to your visual and connection. Haryanvi music does not require a high frame rate simply because the source is audio; a static visual can often be sent at a modest frame rate. Choose based on the material, the encoder, and the upload line, not on resolution alone.

In Settings > Audio and the OBS mixer, choose the audio device or source deliberately. For stereo, YouTube lists 128 Kbps and 44.1 kHz as recommended advanced audio settings. Check that the meters move, the music is audible, and no desktop notifications or unrelated system sounds are being captured.
YouTube’s encoder guidance lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video, AAC or MP3 audio, CBR, up to 60 fps, and RTMPS as the encrypted ingest option. H.264 is a broadly practical starting point; HEVC or AV1 may offer encoding trade-offs but require support from both your encoder setup and YouTube’s ingest path. Choose bitrate to fit both the output and your internet connection
Bitrate is not a universal setting: it depends on codec, resolution, frame rate, and the stability of your upload connection. Examples from YouTube’s H.264 recommendations are:

Use YouTube’s table for the exact combination you select, then test. YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom. That means a stream set to 8 Mbps needs more than 8 Mbps of stable available upload capacity; other household traffic and bitrate variation also matter. If you are using primary and backup encoders, YouTube’s guidance is to budget for the primary and backup streams plus 20% headroom. A speed test is only a snapshot, not a guarantee of an uninterrupted 24/7 connection. The general network guidance is at YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
Test before making the stream public

Set the YouTube stream to unlisted for a controlled test, then start streaming from OBS and check that the Studio preview receives both picture and sound.

Listen to the watch page from a second device or browser. Confirm the music is not silent, clipped, distorted, or unexpectedly mixed with desktop audio. Check the visual framing and ensure no private information appears.

Watch YouTube’s stream-health status and OBS stats while the test runs. Dropped frames, encoder overload, unstable bitrate, or warnings are reasons to reduce output demands or resolve the connection issue before a public launch.

Confirm that the title, description, visibility, and playlist order are right. If you change the stream key, update OBS before reconnecting.

End the test and review the result. Only proceed with a public stream after the authorized content, channel routing, audio, and stability are all checked.
Plan for 24/7 operation, outages, and archives
OBS is running on your computer, so a 24/7 broadcast depends on that computer, OBS, the power supply, and the internet connection staying available. A reboot, software update, crash, router outage, or brief loss of upload can interrupt the feed. YouTube may also interrupt it for content matches. Decide who will notice an outage and restart OBS, and test recovery before relying on the stream unattended. A backup internet connection or optional UPS can reduce some local failure risks, but neither guarantees uninterrupted service.

Also plan the broadcast in segments if you need manageable recordings or operational checkpoints. YouTube’s encoder guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; it does not establish that one uninterrupted 24-hour session will produce a complete archived video. Avoid promising viewers a single continuous VOD of a 24/7 feed. Consider ending and restarting sessions on a schedule if archived segments matter, and explain any planned transition to viewers. OBS connects to the wrong channel or fails to authenticate: confirm the stream key and server URL belong to the intended Studio stream, and that the key has not been reset. Keep the key private.

Studio preview is blank: confirm OBS is streaming, the correct scene is active, and the stream server/key match. Check OBS output and YouTube Studio again rather than repeatedly sharing or exposing the key.

Audio is missing or too quiet: inspect the selected source, OBS mixer meters, mute state, and monitoring on a second device. Verify the source is the cleared recording rather than an unrelated desktop capture.

Audio or video stutters, or stream health degrades: check OBS dropped-frame and encoder statistics, stop competing uploads/downloads, lower resolution or bitrate according to YouTube’s table, and retest with bandwidth headroom.

The livestream is interrupted by a copyright match: stop using the matched material until you have confirmed permission and the rights holder’s Content ID requirements. A licence alone may not prevent interruption if allowlisting is required.

The stream ends or the archive is incomplete: review whether OBS, the PC, power, network, or YouTube interrupted the session. For archive needs, use sessions under 12 hours rather than assuming a continuous 24-hour stream will be archived in full.
