To run a cozy cabin-and-rain scene on YouTube around the clock, create an original or properly licensed visual and rain soundtrack, send them through an encoder such as OBS to a YouTube live stream, and plan separately for dropouts, copyright checks, and archiving. A continuous broadcast is not guaranteed to produce a complete archive: YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all.
Plan the cabin scene and secure the rights first
Build a scene that feels intentional rather than like a generic loop: for example, a warmly lit cabin window, rain on the glass, and a restrained fireplace or tree movement. Use visuals and audio you created yourself, or material whose license explicitly covers live streaming and archived YouTube content. YouTube’s livestream terms make the provider responsible for having the necessary rights for live and archived content.

- Keep project files, license receipts, permission emails, and any Content ID allowlist confirmation together.
- Check the license for both the live broadcast and the resulting archive. A license for personal listening or a downloaded asset does not by itself establish permission to broadcast it.
- If a rights owner uses Content ID, ask whether your channel needs to be allowlisted even when you have permission.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it identifies a match, it may replace the video with a placeholder, warn you, interrupt the stream, or terminate it if the issue continues. Its live-stream copyright guidance notes that a rights owner may need to allowlist a licensed channel through Content ID.
Check that your channel can stream
YouTube’s encoder workflow requires a verified channel and no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. Review current eligibility and setup guidance in YouTube’s live-streaming help. If this is your channel’s first time enabling live streaming, allow for YouTube’s activation process before scheduling the launch.

Create the stream in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room.
- Create a new stream or schedule one. Choose the title, description, visibility, and other stream details for the cabin ambience video.
- Choose the encoder workflow and copy the stream URL and stream key shown in Live Control Room. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to broadcast to your channel.
- Keep the stream’s visibility appropriate for setup and testing. You can use a private or unlisted test before making the planned broadcast public.
YouTube identifies encoder streaming as the practical option for a designed scene involving overlays or external audio/video sources. The current stream settings and key are managed in Live Control Room; see YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
Build the scene in OBS and connect it
OBS is free for any use, including commercial use, according to the OBS Help portal. It is a starting point, not a promise that a particular computer or connection will run continuously. Test the actual system you intend to use; the official guidance does not prescribe a specific computer model for a static cabin scene.

- Install and open OBS, then create a scene such as “Cabin rain.”
- Add the cabin artwork or animation as an image or video source. Add your rain recording as an audio source. Confirm the visual and audio loop cleanly at the point where each file restarts.
- In OBS settings, open the stream configuration, choose YouTube as the service, and enter the stream URL and key from Live Control Room. Keep the key private.
- Set video output to match the source and your tested system. Use the encoder’s available bitrate and keyframe settings in line with YouTube’s current encoder recommendations rather than guessing a universal value; the appropriate setting depends on output resolution, frame rate, encoder, and connection.
- Start streaming from OBS, then check the Live Control Room preview for picture, sound, and any warnings before confirming the broadcast is live.
For an ambience stream, a static image or slow animation may be enough; motion should serve the scene rather than add complexity. Listen for clipped audio, sudden level changes, or an obvious rain-loop seam, and inspect the actual outgoing feed rather than relying only on the OBS preview.

Run a stability check before leaving it on
Before committing to a continuous public stream, run a private or unlisted test on the computer and network you plan to use. This is a practical production check, not a YouTube-prescribed test duration.

- Watch the YouTube preview and listen on another device to confirm the audience feed is correct.
- Check that the rain audio stays audible without clipping and that the loop transition is not distracting.
- Confirm the computer will not sleep, restart for updates, or lose power during the planned session.
- Decide how you will notice a dropped connection and who can restart the broadcast. A local computer and home connection remain potential failure points in this DIY setup.
Plan the archive separately from the live broadcast
A 24/7 stream is not necessarily a 24/7 recording. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. See its live-stream archive guidance. If preserving the full output matters, record locally as well; YouTube recommends keeping a local backup. An external SSD is optional storage, not a required piece of streaming equipment.
If you need complete, reviewable archives, schedule shorter sessions around your archive requirements rather than assuming one endless broadcast will create a complete video. Confirm the archive appears and plays as expected after each session.

Understand the monetization risk of a loop
Copyright permission and YouTube Partner Program eligibility are separate questions. You can have permission to use every asset and still have a channel that does not meet monetization policy. YouTube’s monetization policy, updated July 15, 2025 to call “repetitious content” “inauthentic content,” says repetitive or mass-produced content remains ineligible under its originality and authenticity rules; its use of “video” includes livestreams. Review is channel-wide, and no policy page guarantees that a cabin-and-rain loop qualifies.
