To copy pictures from a Motorola Razr to a Windows PC, connect the unlocked phone with a USB data cable, set its USB mode to File transfer (or PTP for photos and videos only), then copy the images from the phone in File Explorer. Most camera shots are in DCIM/Camera.

Turn on and unlock your Razr. Connect it to the PC with a USB cable that supports data transfer; a charge-only cable will not let you browse the phone’s files. Motorola’s USB guidance explains this requirement.

On the phone, swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the USB notification, often labeled “Charging this device via USB.” Choose File transfer. If you only need photos and videos, choose PTP instead. Labels and notification placement can vary by Razr generation and Android version.

On the PC, open File Explorer, select the Motorola phone in the navigation pane or under This PC, and open its internal storage.

Open
DCIM/Camerafor camera photos and videos. CheckPicturesas well for edited images or pictures saved by apps; some apps store images in their own subfolders. -
Select the files or folders you want, copy them, and paste them into a folder on the PC. Keep the phone’s originals until you have opened a few copied files and confirmed the transfer worked.

Choose the USB mode that fits the transfer

Motorola’s USB instructions describe both modes. If you want access to folders beyond photos and videos, use File transfer.

Unlock the phone. A locked phone may charge without exposing its files. Keep it unlocked while connecting and selecting the USB mode.

Change the connection from charging to a transfer mode. Open the USB notification and select File transfer or PTP. If no notification appears, disconnect and reconnect the cable, then check the phone’s notifications again.

Try a data-capable cable. Some cables provide power only. Motorola specifies a cable that supports data transfer; replace yours only if it is charge-only, damaged, or otherwise unable to transfer data.

Check the right folders. Start with

Other ways to move pictures
Using a Mac
Motorola’s current general USB guidance names OpenMTP and MacDroid as examples of apps for transferring files to a Mac. Check each app’s current compatibility and availability before installing it. An older Razr user guide mentions Android File Transfer, but that historical reference does not establish that the app is still a current option.

Using cloud storage or Smart Connect
USB is a direct option for copying a large batch to a computer. Motorola’s file-transfer overview also describes Google Drive for accessing files across devices and Smart Connect as a Windows integration option. Cloud transfer requires uploading and downloading over a network; Smart Connect is an alternative integration rather than a requirement for the USB steps above.
