To prepare Indian music videos for a 24/7 YouTube livestream, first confirm you have live-streaming rights, inspect the files, and convert only sources that need it to an H.264 video and compatible audio profile. For YouTube H.264 ingest, use RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval, and bitrate matched to the chosen resolution and frame rate. Conversion alone does not keep a broadcast live: you still need a playout encoder, a stable upload connection, and a way to monitor the stream.
Before converting, confirm rights and channel readiness
Codec settings cannot make an unlicensed music video safe to stream. YouTube’s livestream terms require the rights needed to exploit live content, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants. Confirm permission for both the audiovisual video and the underlying sound recording and composition, for the territories where viewers may watch and for live use. YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A match may produce a warning and placeholder image; if it remains, YouTube may temporarily interrupt or terminate the stream. Even if you have a license, ask the rights holder whether your channel must be added to its Content ID allowlist: YouTube says a stream can still be interrupted when a licensed channel is not allowlisted. Claims on an archived stream can be made after the live stream ends. Read YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.
Also check that the channel is verified and has no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. YouTube’s getting-started guidance lists up to 10 active streams per channel and three active streams per stream key; verify the current limits before configuring a production schedule because platform rules can change.

Inventory the videos and choose an output profile
Before batch processing, make a file-by-file inventory. Record resolution, frame rate, aspect ratio, scan type, audio channel count and audio sample rate. This helps identify unsupported or inconsistent sources and prevents an automatic conversion from discarding useful properties, such as 5.1 audio. The right settings depend on the source library and the bitrate your connection can sustain steadily.
- For standard SDR output, YouTube’s advanced encoder guidance recommends progressive scan, square pixels, Rec. 709 and 8-bit video.
- Keep the output frame rate aligned with the source where practicable. YouTube lists support up to 60 fps; raising a lower-frame-rate source does not create genuine motion detail.
- Avoid upscaling low-resolution clips on the assumption that it adds detail. Pick a consistent output only when your playout workflow needs one, and preserve the original files.
- If a source already meets the requirements of your playout system, inspect it before re-encoding. H.264 conversion does not inherently improve quality; lossy transcoding can reduce it.
YouTube’s live guidance specifies ingest settings, not a particular file-conversion application or command. Choose a converter or playout system that can produce or pass through the format you need, and confirm its controls against the settings below. See YouTube’s encoder settings.

Use YouTube’s H.264 settings for the live feed
For this workflow, configure the live encoder or playout system—not just the stored files—to send H.264 over RTMPS. YouTube lists RTMP and RTMPS and recommends RTMPS for encrypted delivery. It recommends CBR and a two-second keyframe frequency; do not exceed four seconds. The bitrate figures below are YouTube’s H.264 ingest settings, not a universal guarantee of perceived quality.

Match the bitrate to the selected resolution and frame rate, then check that your upload connection can sustain it with headroom for normal variation. A connection that briefly reaches the target is not enough for a continuous stream. Source quality, motion, frame rate and upload stability all affect the result.

Video and audio parameters
- Video codec: H.264.
- Rate control: CBR.
- Keyframes: every two seconds recommended; no more than four seconds apart.
- Advanced video: progressive scan, two B-frames, one reference frame, CABAC and square pixels; for SDR, Rec. 709 and 8-bit.
- Stereo audio: AAC or MP3; 44.1 kHz and 128 Kbps recommended.
- 5.1 audio over RTMP/RTMPS: AAC is the supported choice; YouTube recommends 48 kHz and 384 Kbps.
Do not silently downmix multichannel audio or change its sample rate during conversion without checking the source and the intended output. If the collection mixes stereo and 5.1 material, test representative files through the complete playout chain.
Convert only the files that need conversion
- Inspect each source. Use a media-information tool or your converter’s file details to capture the inventory fields: resolution, frame rate, aspect ratio, scan type, audio channels and sample rate.
- Choose a target profile. Select a resolution and frame rate your source material can support and your upload can sustain. Use YouTube’s matching bitrate range above, plus the applicable video and audio settings.
- Transcode incompatible or inconsistent sources. Convert only where your chosen playout system cannot reliably use the original or where you need a consistent profile. Preserve aspect ratio and avoid unnecessary resolution increases. Use a suitable audio path for stereo or 5.1 rather than assuming all files have the same channel layout.
- Review the output. Play converted samples from the beginning, middle and end. Check for audio-video sync, missing or clipped audio, black frames, unexpected cropping, wrong orientation, and visible quality loss. Compare with the source before processing the full library.
There is no conversion preset that can compensate for unclear rights, unstable connectivity, or a playout system that stops after one clip. Treat conversion as media preparation, separate from live encoding and delivery.

Build and test the 24/7 playout path
- Choose a playout approach. A software encoder/playout system can be suitable when you can configure it to repeat or schedule files, output the selected H.264 and audio profile, and monitor its operation. A standalone hardware encoder is optional: YouTube’s encoder directory lists the AJA HELO Plus as a standalone H.264 encoder with prerecorded-media scheduling capability. Compare solutions for playlist/repeat support, protocol, monitoring and recovery needs; hardware is not required just to convert files.
- Configure the YouTube destination. In YouTube’s live setup, obtain the stream key and ingestion endpoint, then enter them in the encoder or playout system. Select RTMPS when the encoder supports it. Keep the stream key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream.
- Set the live encoding profile. Apply H.264, CBR, the two-second keyframe interval, the target frame rate and matching bitrate, plus the appropriate audio settings. If the encoder exposes additional advanced settings, use YouTube’s recommendations described above.
- Test a representative segment. Send a clip with both music and motion before relying on the full playlist. Check YouTube’s preview and stream-health messages, confirm picture and sound, and verify that the playlist proceeds or repeats as expected.
- Monitor the continuous operation. Arrange a person or monitoring process to detect feed loss, silence, network failure and rights interruptions. YouTube advises testing and checking stream health, but its general guidance does not promise 24/7 uptime or prescribe a complete failover design.
Troubleshoot common failures
- YouTube does not receive the feed: confirm the stream key and endpoint are entered correctly, the key is active, and the encoder is sending to the intended live event. Keep the key private and regenerate it if it has been exposed.
- Stream health reports bitrate or connection trouble: verify the output resolution and frame rate against the selected bitrate, then test whether the upload can sustain that rate. Reduce the output target if the connection is not stable enough; avoid repeatedly changing unrelated settings at once.
- Video is choppy or motion looks poor: check whether the source itself has a low frame rate or poor quality, and whether the live output matches the intended frame rate and bitrate. Upscaling or increasing frame rate cannot restore detail that is absent from the source.
- Audio is missing, distorted or wrong-channel: inspect the source’s channel count and sample rate, then check the output audio codec and settings. For stereo, use AAC or MP3 with the recommended 44.1 kHz / 128 Kbps settings; for 5.1 over RTMP/RTMPS, use AAC and the recommended 48 kHz / 384 Kbps settings.
- A licensed music stream is interrupted: contact the rights holder about the Content ID allowlist for the channel. A license by itself may not prevent a live interruption if the channel is not allowlisted.
- The broadcast stops between videos: check the playlist or scheduling configuration and whether the playout software or hardware is set to repeat continuously. Test the transition between clips and monitor the live preview before leaving the system unattended.
