Choose the right method first

For private, logged-in, or confidential pages, prefer the local browser method. A cloud converter receives the URL or file on its own infrastructure, so review its privacy and retention terms before uploading anything.
Save a webpage as a PDF in Microsoft Edge
- Open the page you want to preserve and let its content finish loading.
- Press Ctrl+P on Windows or Command+P on macOS. You can also open the Edge menu and choose Print.
- In the destination or printer list, choose Save to PDF, Microsoft Print to PDF, or the PDF destination available on your system.
- Review every page in the preview. Check that headings, images, tables, and required links are present.
- Adjust orientation, pages, scale, margins, headers, and footers as needed, then select Save and choose a filename.
Edge documents a background-graphics control; enable it when colors or background images carry useful information. A clutter-free print option may remove surrounding ads and navigation where available. Microsoft has also documented Immersive Reader as a workaround on supported pages when you want a cleaner article-only printout; labels and availability can vary by Edge version and operating system.
Save a webpage as a PDF in Firefox
- Open the page in Firefox and wait for dynamic sections and images to load.
- Open the application menu, choose Print, and wait for the print preview.
- Set Destination to Save to PDF (the exact label can depend on your operating system).
- Choose the page range, orientation, scale, margins, and whether headers and footers should appear.
- Use Simplified format when Firefox offers it and you want to remove much of the navigation and advertising.
- Inspect the preview, then save the PDF.
Mozilla warns that web pages can be designed to appear differently on paper than on screen. Missing backgrounds, changed spacing, or rearranged columns therefore do not automatically mean Firefox failed.

Make the PDF easier to read
Fix a page that is too wide
- Try Landscape orientation for wide tables or dashboards.
- Reduce scale slightly rather than shrinking the page until text is unreadable.
- Use narrower margins where the dialog allows it.
- For a long article, select only the pages you need instead of creating a large, mostly empty file.
Restore missing colors and images
Turn on background graphics when the design depends on colored panels, charts, or background images. If an image is still absent, return to the page, disable aggressive content blocking for that site if appropriate, wait for the image to load, and print again.
Remove clutter
Reader-style views can produce a more useful document when advertisements, menus, comments, or recommendation modules overwhelm the article. Firefox’s Simplified format and Edge’s supported Immersive Reader workflow are page-dependent; neither is guaranteed on every site.
Convert a URL online with PDF24
PDF24 describes a browser-based workflow for converting a webpage URL: enter the address, start the conversion, and download the resulting PDF. It says the service is free, needs no registration, works across common browsers and operating systems, and processes the conversion in the cloud. PDF24 also states that files are automatically deleted from its server after one hour. Those are the provider’s published service claims and may change.

- Open the PDF24 webpage-conversion tool.
- Paste the complete webpage URL into the URL field.
- Start the conversion and wait for the result.
- Download the PDF and open it locally to check pagination, images, and text.
This method is convenient when you cannot install software or do not have the page open locally. It is not the same privacy model as browser printing: the conversion runs on a third-party server. Do not submit a page containing information that your policy or organization forbids sending to an external service.

A one-page PDF and a site archive are different jobs. Adobe documents a desktop Acrobat workflow that can capture multiple linked levels or an entire website, with controls to remain on the same URL path or server. Use that approach when the requirement is a structured collection of linked pages rather than a single article. It is unnecessary for an ordinary one-page save and requires desktop Acrobat.

Troubleshooting a bad PDF
Content is missing
Reload the page, wait for lazy-loaded sections, and print again. Some content appears only after scrolling, interaction, or authentication. A print dialog cannot capture content that never rendered in the browser.

The page breaks in the wrong places
Change orientation, scale, and margins. Select a narrower page range, or use a simplified view. Complex pages control their own print CSS, so no setting fixes every layout.
Backgrounds disappeared
Enable background graphics and confirm the preview before saving. If the background is decorative rather than informational, leaving it off can improve readability and reduce file size.
Fonts or symbols look wrong
Allow web fonts to finish loading, then reopen the print preview. If the site still supplies a print-specific font, the PDF may differ from the screen rendering.

The online converter fails
Check that the URL is publicly reachable, includes https:// where required, and does not depend on your private login session. Try the local browser method for pages behind authentication or bot protection.
The PDF contains sensitive information
Use local browser printing instead of a cloud converter. Microsoft says Edge printing passes print commands and file information to the local operating system, and that Microsoft Print to PDF does not send file data back to Microsoft. This is Microsoft’s own privacy description, not an independent security audit.
What to check before sharing
- Open the saved PDF in a separate viewer.
- Search for a distinctive sentence to confirm text extraction works.
- Check the first and last pages for clipped content.
- Verify that tables, links, images, and page numbers are usable.
- Remove unwanted headers, footers, or blank pages.
- Confirm that the file contains no private browser information or comments you did not intend to distribute.
