To save a webpage as a PDF on your phone, use Safari’s Share (or page menu) > Markup > Done > Save File To on an iPhone. In Chrome on Android, use More > Share > Print > Save as PDF, choose a destination, and tap Save or Print. Open the finished file and check it before sending it: long pages can be clipped, images can be absent, and navigation or pop-ups can remain.
How to convert a webpage to PDF on an iPhone
Apple’s current iPhone User Guide describes Safari’s built-in PDF export. The labels can move slightly between iOS releases, so look for the page menu or the square-with-up-arrow Share icon if the wording differs.

- Open Safari and load the page. Wait for the main text, images, tables and embedded content to finish loading. If the page keeps adding content as you scroll, scroll through it once before exporting.
- Open the page controls. Tap the page menu in Safari’s address bar or tap Share.
- Tap Markup. Safari opens a PDF-style preview of the webpage.
- Annotate if needed. You can highlight, draw, write notes or leave the page unchanged.
- Tap Done. Choose Save File To, select a folder in Files (such as On My iPhone or iCloud Drive), enter a filename, and tap Save.
Apple describes this as marking up a webpage and sharing it as a PDF. The resulting document is stored through the Files save flow, not in Safari’s ordinary list of open tabs.
If Safari shows an Options button
Some Safari versions show Options in the Share sheet before the PDF preview. If you see it, choose PDF, then continue to Save to Files. If your device instead shows Markup directly, use the Markup route above; both controls serve the same export purpose.

How to save a web page as a PDF on Android
Chrome for Android sends the page through the system print preview. Exact button text varies by Android release and manufacturer, but the function is the same.
- Open Chrome and the target webpage. Let the page finish loading and expand any content you want included.
- Tap More. This is the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
- Tap Share, then Print. On some phones, Print appears after you swipe across the Share options.
- Choose Save as PDF in the printer selector or print-preview destination list.
- Choose a folder or storage location. Tap Save or Print; the final label depends on the phone’s print service.
Chrome’s print preview may offer paper size, orientation and page-range controls. Those settings affect the PDF layout. If the page is very wide, landscape orientation can prevent columns from being cut off.
Where the PDF is saved
iPhone
Safari opens the Files destination picker. You can save to On My iPhone for local storage, iCloud Drive for access on other Apple devices, or another location offered by an installed Files provider. To find it later, open the Files app and browse to the folder you selected.
Android
Android’s print preview asks for a storage location. Depending on the device, the file may be placed in Downloads, Documents, internal storage, an SD card, or a connected cloud provider. Use the Files app (often called Files by Google or My Files) and search for the filename if you do not remember the folder.

Check the PDF before you share it
Exporting is not the same as verifying. Open the saved file in your phone’s PDF viewer and inspect the beginning, middle and end.
- Check long pages: confirm that headings, footnotes and the final section are present.
- Check images and tables: look for blank boxes, stretched images or columns that run beyond the page edge.
- Check fonts and symbols: unusual fonts, emoji and mathematical symbols may substitute or disappear.
- Check unwanted interface elements: cookie notices, sticky navigation, newsletter forms and chat bubbles can be printed as part of the page.
- Check privacy: the PDF may include your account name, comments, hidden tracking text or information visible only while you were signed in.
If the result is incomplete, return to the browser, wait longer, dismiss overlays, scroll through lazy-loaded sections, and repeat the export. A site’s print stylesheet can also intentionally omit menus or interactive controls, so the PDF may not look exactly like the screen.
Full webpage versus a reader-style PDF
Some browsers offer a simplified or reader view. It can produce a cleaner document by removing navigation and advertising, but it may also remove captions, sidebars, interactive charts or other context. Use the normal webpage export when visual fidelity matters; use reader-style output when you mainly need an article’s text for offline reading.

Fixes for common problems
The PDF is only one page or ends early
The browser may have exported before lazy-loaded content appeared, or the site may be paginated. Scroll through the page first, wait for images to load, and export again. For a multi-page article, check whether a “next page” control must be opened separately.

Images are missing
Confirm that the images are visible in the browser before exporting. A slow connection, blocked third-party resource, or image that loads only after scrolling can leave blank areas in the PDF. Reload on a reliable connection and repeat.
Text or columns are cut off
On Android, try landscape orientation, a different paper size, or a narrower print scale if the preview provides it. On iPhone, Safari’s PDF layout is largely automatic; try reader view or remove unusually wide page elements before exporting.
A cookie banner or pop-up covers the page
Close the banner or form before opening the Share/Print controls. If it returns on every load, use reader view where available or capture the page with a service that removes known overlays before rendering.
The save command is missing
On iPhone, look in the Share sheet for Markup or Save to Files. On Android, open Chrome’s three-dot menu, choose Share, then locate Print; it may require horizontal scrolling. Device makers can rename the final confirmation button.

Search Files for the exact filename, then check Downloads, Documents, On My iPhone, iCloud Drive and any SD-card or cloud location selected in the save dialog. Saving again with a distinctive name avoids confusion.

When a phone browser is not enough
Built-in export is ideal for an occasional page. A repeatable workflow is more useful when you need full-page captures, a specific viewport, a PDF page range, custom headers or cookies, or a clean result without consent layers and floating widgets. Optional storage: a USB-C or Lightning flash drive
You do not need extra hardware; both official workflows save to local phone storage or a selected cloud location. If you archive many PDFs, a phone-compatible flash drive can provide removable storage.
