Keep the full-size capture and choose the highest JPG quality setting offered, if one is shown. But JPG is a lossy format, so no setting can guarantee mathematically lossless output. For pixel-preserving compression, choose PNG instead.
Convert a webpage URL to JPG with CloudConvert
- Open CloudConvert’s Website JPG Screenshot page.
- Enter the webpage’s URL and submit it for capture. This tool captures a website from its URL; it is not a workflow for converting a saved HTML file.
- Keep the default full-size screenshot unless you have a specific reason to change the screen resolution. CloudConvert says the tool captures full size by default and lets you customize resolution and other parameters.
- If the current interface offers a JPG quality control, select the highest quality that fits your file-size needs. The reviewed page does not specify the control’s exact name or default value.
- Download the JPG and inspect small text, fine edges, gradients and image detail at the size where you intend to use it.
What “without losing quality” means for JPG
A webpage is rendered as pixels before the image is encoded. JPG compression is lossy: it can discard image information to produce a smaller file. CloudConvert itself describes JPG/JPEG as lossy on its Website JPG Screenshot page. Keeping the capture at full size and using a high quality setting, if available, can help minimize visible degradation, but it cannot guarantee preservation of every pixel. CloudConvert does not publish a measured fidelity result or a specific JPG quality value on that page.

Keep the capture resolution when detail matters
A smaller output resolution reduces the detail available in the image, independently of JPG compression. Retain the full-size default when legible text and fine detail matter. Change resolution only to suit a target display size or file-size requirement; CloudConvert confirms resolution is customizable but does not enumerate the available values on the reviewed page.

Choose PNG if lossless compression is essential
If exact pixel preservation matters more than JPG compatibility or a smaller lossy file, use PNG. CloudConvert describes PNG as using lossless compression on its PNG converter page.

Its Website Screenshot API page describes headless Chrome capture, URL or HTML input, full-page screenshots, custom viewport size and zoom, and waiting for a CSS selector before capture. The current consumer and API descriptions refer to Chrome; a CloudConvert blog post from May 23, 2014 described WebKit, which is historical rather than a current engine description (2014 post).

Troubleshooting the result
- The image looks soft or text is hard to read: Confirm you kept the full-size capture. If a quality control is available, raise it; the reviewed CloudConvert page does not state its label or default value.
- The JPG still differs from the rendered page: Some loss is inherent to JPG encoding. Use PNG when exact pixel preservation through compression is the priority.
- You need a different output size: Adjust screen resolution only for a defined target size or file-size need. CloudConvert says this is customizable but does not list the available settings on the reviewed page.
- You have an HTML file rather than a live webpage URL: The consumer screenshot workflow asks for a website URL. For developer use, CloudConvert’s API documentation describes URL or HTML input; consult its API page for the documented capture workflow.
