Pick a folder in Files and tap Save. Markup is optional; you can save immediately without drawing on the page.
Save a normal webpage as a PDF in Safari
- Open Safari on your iPad and navigate to the webpage.
- Tap the Share button (the square with an upward arrow).
- In the share sheet, tap More if you do not see Markup, then choose Markup.
- Review the PDF preview. Use the pen, highlighter, text, shape, or signature tools only if you want annotations.
- Tap Done.
- Choose Save File To, enter a filename, select iCloud Drive or On My iPad (or another available Files location), and tap Save.
The resulting document is a PDF, not a Safari bookmark or a screenshot image. If you do not need annotations, leave the page unchanged in Markup and continue to saving.
Choose the destination before you save
iCloud Drive keeps the file available on other Apple devices signed in to the same account. On My iPad keeps it stored locally and is useful when you expect limited connectivity. You can also select a folder supplied by a cloud-storage app that appears in the Files picker.
Use the PDF option in the Share sheet
Some iPadOS releases expose a more direct export route. In Safari:

- Open the page and tap Share.
- Look beneath the webpage title for Options and tap it.
- Select PDF, then tap Done.
- Tap Save to Files, choose a folder, name the file, and tap Save.
If Options or PDF is not present, use the Share → More → Markup route instead. Labels and their positions vary between iPadOS releases and installed share-sheet extensions.
Capture an entire long webpage
A normal PDF export may follow the page’s printable layout, while a screenshot normally captures only what is visible. For a long article, documentation page, or receipt that extends well below the screen, use Safari’s full-page screenshot.
- In Safari, display the page and take a screenshot. On iPads without a Home button, press the top button and volume up together. On models with a Home button, press the top button and Home together.
- Tap the screenshot thumbnail that appears briefly.
- At the top of the editor, select Full Page.
- Scroll the preview to verify that the required content is included. Use the crop controls if you need to trim headers or unrelated sections.
- Tap Done, then choose Save PDF to Files.
- Select a destination and filename, then tap Save.
This route is particularly useful when the objective is coverage of the complete scrollable page rather than a printer-style rendering. It can produce a multi-page PDF. Very large or highly dynamic pages may take longer to render or may include content that loads only after you scroll.

Find, rename, share, and annotate the PDF
Locate the file later
Open the Files app, tap Browse, and open the location and folder you selected during saving. Use the search field for the filename if you do not remember the folder. Recently saved documents may also appear under Recents.

Rename or move it
In Files, touch and hold the PDF, choose Rename, type a descriptive name, and tap Done. Use Move to place it in a different iCloud Drive, On My iPad, or connected provider folder.
Send it to another app or person
Touch and hold the file in Files and tap Share. You can send it through Mail or Messages, open it in a PDF reader, or copy it to another available destination. Safari’s share sheet can also email a webpage as a PDF directly when that action is offered.

Annotate after exporting
Open the PDF in Files or your preferred PDF app and use Markup to add highlights, drawings, text, or a signature. Apple Pencil support is optional; an Apple Pencil (USB-C) can make frequent handwriting easier, but neither a pencil nor a paid app is required to create the PDF.
When the PDF looks wrong
The Share sheet has no Markup, Options, or PDF
- Scroll through the share-sheet actions and tap More to reveal hidden actions.
- Try the alternate route: if Options is missing, use Markup; if Markup is unavailable, take a screenshot and select Full Page.
- Confirm that the page is open in Safari, not an in-app browser with a reduced share sheet.
Only one screen appears in the PDF
Use the screenshot method and select Full Page. A standard screenshot without that selection is limited to the visible viewport.

- Wait for the page to finish loading before opening Share.
- Scroll through the page once so lazy-loaded images have a chance to appear, then repeat the export.
- For content behind an expandable control, open the control first. A PDF cannot include content that the page never rendered.
The file was saved but cannot be found
Open Files → Browse and check both iCloud Drive and On My iPad, plus the exact folder chosen in the picker. Check Recents and search by the filename. If a third-party storage location was selected, open that provider’s folder in Files.

The page is cut off or the export stalls
Long, script-heavy pages can be difficult to render. Try the direct PDF route first, reload Safari, close unrelated tabs, and retry. If complete scrollable coverage is essential, use Full Page and inspect the preview before saving. For a page that requires a login, keep the session active while exporting.
Privacy and content considerations
The PDF records what Safari rendered, including visible account names, order numbers, comments, or other private data. Before sharing, review every page and remove sensitive material with a PDF editor or by recapturing a cropped section. A webpage’s links may remain clickable in a print-style PDF, but a full-page screenshot PDF is fundamentally an image capture and may not preserve the same text structure or links.

Practical checklist before you share
- Confirm that the PDF includes the intended page range.
- Check images, tables, expandable sections, and page numbers.
- Remove passwords, personal details, and internal URLs.
- Open the saved file from Files to verify it is readable outside Safari.
- Use a descriptive filename such as project-guide-2026-09-29.pdf.

Can I convert a webpage to PDF without installing an app on iPad?
Yes. Safari’s Share sheet, Markup, and Files app provide the conversion and storage tools. A paid app is not required.
Does Full Page work on every Safari webpage?
It is designed for scrollable pages, but dynamic content, login state, and extremely long pages can affect what is included. Inspect the Full Page preview before saving.
Where is a Safari PDF stored by default?
It is stored in the location and folder you choose in Save to Files or Save File To, such as iCloud Drive or On My iPad; there is no single mandatory default folder.
