Galaxy phones do not have Apple’s AirDrop setting. Incoming transfers are controlled in Quick Share: go to Settings > Connected devices > Quick Share > Who can share with you. Choose who can discover your phone, and use Everyone (10 minutes only) only when you need temporary visibility—including when receiving from an Apple device on a supported Galaxy.
Choose who can send files to your Galaxy
- Open Settings.
- Tap Connected devices, then Quick Share.
- Tap Who can share with you.
- Choose the access level that fits what you need:
| Setting | Who can discover and send | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| No one | Blocks ordinary nearby Quick Share senders. Samsung describes it as “No one can share with you.” | Choose this when you do not want nearby transfer requests. |
| Your devices | Your own devices. | Use this to limit sharing to your devices. |
| Contacts | Saved contacts who use a Samsung account. | Use this for sharing with people in your contacts rather than anyone nearby. |
| Everyone (10 minutes only) | Any nearby sender during the temporary visibility window. | Use it when a sender is not covered by a more restrictive option, including for Apple-device transfers. |
Samsung says the Everyone setting switches back automatically after ten minutes: to Contacts if you are signed in to a Samsung account, or to No one if you are not. Devices using the same Samsung account can share regardless of the selected option, so these settings do not block that exception. Menu names and layouts can differ by model, software, and app version. Samsung’s instructions are available in its Quick Share file-sharing guide.

You can also expand the Quick panel, tap the Quick Share control, and open its settings to choose who can share with you. The control’s label and location can vary by phone.

AirDrop is Apple’s name for its sharing feature; Galaxy phones use Quick Share. On supported Galaxy models, Quick Share can interoperate with Apple devices. Samsung’s receiving instructions require the Galaxy to be visible as Everyone (10 minutes only) for an Apple sender to find it through AirDrop.

Check that your Galaxy supports it
Apple interoperability is not available on every Galaxy. Google’s current compatibility guide lists the Galaxy S26, S25, and S24 series, selected Z Flip and Z Fold models, and Z TriFold. Samsung’s support information specifies Quick Share app version 13.8.51.27 or later and Google Play services version 26.11.xx or later. Samsung’s March 22, 2026 announcement initially described support as limited to the S26 series, while its support page and Google’s guide reflect a broader rollout. Check the current setting on your phone: supported models, software rollout, and regional availability can change. See Google’s current Quick Share compatibility guide and Samsung’s March 2026 announcement.

Send files from a Galaxy to an Apple device
For the reverse direction, Samsung says to enable Share with Apple devices in Quick Share settings. The Apple recipient must set AirDrop to Everyone (10 minutes); the recipient then accepts the transfer prompt. Google also documents the cross-platform sharing steps.

If the other device cannot see your Galaxy
- Check visibility and screen: Keep the Galaxy screen on and make sure Who can share with you allows the sender. For an Apple sender, use the timed Everyone option.
- Turn on the needed radios and feature: Enable Bluetooth and Quick Share on both devices. Samsung’s nearby-transfer instructions also call for Wi-Fi to be enabled.
- Confirm Apple compatibility: Check that the Galaxy model, Quick Share app, and Google Play services meet the requirements, and that Share with Apple devices is available and enabled.
- Close conflicting features: Samsung says Apple-device discovery may fail while Mobile Hotspot or some Wi-Fi Direct/Wi-Fi Aware features are active, including Smart View, DeX, Multi Control, Music Share, Camera Share, and Storage Share.
- Try again after reconnecting or restarting: If Apple sharing still fails, Samsung suggests connecting to a network, restarting the Galaxy, and trying again.
- If a setting is missing: Check software and app updates. Model, region, carrier, and software version affect availability; Samsung notes that Apple-sharing availability may vary by market and can change.
Samsung’s Quick Share product information covers nearby receiving conditions, while its support instructions detail Apple-device discovery issues.
