For a question about a specific case, contact the Ventura County Superior Court division handling it using the official phone directory. For an online status check, use Case Inquiry. The Court’s reviewed pages do not establish whether a labor disruption is currently affecting service, so check the Court’s Public Notices before visiting or relying on a particular office, schedule, or filing method.
Which Ventura court number should you call about your case?
Start with the division that handles the matter rather than the Court’s general administration or media contact. The Court’s Phone Directory lists these numbers; confirm the current number and instructions there before calling.

How to check a Ventura County case online
Use the Court’s Case Inquiry service for online case information. It links to civil, probate, small-claims, and family-law databases.
#1 Best Overall
The Court cautions that Case Inquiry is provided as a service, may contain errors or omissions, and is not the official court record. Some information or records may only be available through the Records Department. If the online entry is incomplete or you need an authoritative record, follow the Records Department’s procedures.
How to request court records
The Records Department identifies locations for Ventura-held civil, family, small-claims, criminal, and traffic matters, and Oxnard-held juvenile and probate matters. Record-search requests may be made in person or in writing; the department says it does not take these requests over the phone.
Check the Records page for current locations, hours, fees, and request instructions before sending a request or traveling to a courthouse.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWhat to do if a labor disruption may have affected service
The Court’s reviewed search results include a service-hours press release dated July 31, 2025, and an order about a limited closure filed March 7, 2023, but these historical items do not confirm current operations. Check the Court home page’s Public Notices section and the relevant division page for current instructions.
Do not assume a strike, closure, or service disruption automatically extends a filing deadline or changes how a document must be submitted. The 2023 order addressed a specific closure and said deadlines were not extended for that event; it does not determine the effect of a different or current disruption. The Civil division page provides unit contact details, hours, and mail and drop-box filing information, but a clerk cannot grant a continuance. For a deadline or legal-rights question, do not treat general process information as a decision about your case.

| Need | Use | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| General online case status | Case Inquiry | May be incomplete; it is not the official record. |
| A case-specific question | The relevant division in the Phone Directory | Choose the unit that handles the case. |
| A record or record search | Records Department | Search requests are in person or in writing, not by phone. |
| Civil filing process information | Civil division | Check current filing details; a clerk cannot grant a continuance. |
| Limited civil self-help | Civil Self-Help Center | It cannot provide legal advice, file or serve documents, or represent a party. |
The Civil Self-Help Center says email replies are expected within five court days, excluding court closures and holidays. Verify availability and closures before relying on that response time.
Contacts that cannot resolve an individual case
The Public Information Officer is not the route for a case question: the Court says that office cannot help with an individual case, provide case-file records, or give legal advice. For case information, use Case Inquiry or contact the appropriate division; for records, use Records Department procedures.
