If TikTok permanently banned your account, start with the Appeal button in the ban notification. TikTok says a banned account can still be opened to submit an appeal and download personal data. If the button is missing or does not work, use the in-app helpdesk path: Profile → Menu ☰ → Settings and privacy → Report a problem → Suggestions → No → Need more help?
Do not create another account to get around the restriction. TikTok says an account used to evade an existing restriction or permanent ban can also be restricted or permanently banned.

What to do first when TikTok shows a permanent-ban notice
A permanent ban is handled through TikTok’s account-access and support tools, not through a general social-media post or an unofficial form. Work through the following order so you preserve the notice, submit the primary appeal, and keep a backup support route available.

Try to log in using the normal username, email address, or phone number. TikTok says the login screen displays a banner identifying the ban. Take a screenshot before navigating away. Record the account username, the email or phone linked to it, the date and time, and any policy reason shown.
- Use Appeal on the banner. Tap Appeal and complete every field TikTok requests. The exact questions can vary, so follow the instructions displayed in the app rather than copying a generic message.
- Keep the explanation factual. Identify the account, state why you believe the decision is mistaken, and attach only evidence that addresses the cited issue. Avoid threats, long speculation, or unrelated screenshots.
- Use the in-app helpdesk if the appeal cannot be submitted. The documented route is Profile → Menu ☰ → Settings and privacy → Report a problem → Suggestions. When TikTok asks whether the issue is resolved, tap No, then choose Need more help? to start a chat with the helpdesk.
- Check the restriction record. In TikTok Studio, go to More tools → Account check. In the main TikTok app, the alternative route is Profile → Menu → Settings and privacy → Support → Safety Center → Account check. The result can identify restrictions affecting login, posts, comments, profile editing, or direct messages.
- Download personal data while access remains. TikTok says a banned user can log in to submit an appeal and download personal data. Personal data is deleted after a period set by applicable law and TikTok’s retention policy, so do not wait for the appeal decision if you need copies of your videos, messages, or account information.
App labels and menu locations can change, and regional rules may differ. If a label is slightly different in your current version, use the closest matching support or safety option shown on screen.

How to submit a strong permanent-ban appeal
Document the decision before writing
The ban banner is your clearest record of what TikTok is asking you to challenge. Save the text, the stated policy category, and the date. If you received an email or in-app warning before the ban, preserve that too. Do not edit the screenshot or obscure the username; TikTok needs to connect the evidence to the account.
Explain the account and the specific mistake
Begin with the exact username and the contact detail associated with the account. Then address the reason in the notice. For example, if the notice identifies impersonation, explain the account’s real identity and point to profile information that supports it. If it identifies age, explain the account holder’s eligibility and provide only the verification material TikTok requests. If you believe a particular post was misclassified, identify that post and explain the context in a few sentences.
A useful appeal answers three questions:
- Which account is affected?
- Which policy decision do you believe is wrong?
- What evidence lets TikTok verify your explanation?
Keep the submission consistent with the notice. Adding unrelated complaints about reach, followers, or another account makes it harder for the reviewer to isolate the appealable issue.

Attach relevant evidence, not a data dump
Use clear screenshots, links or files requested by the form, and identity or age documentation only when TikTok asks for it. Redact unrelated personal information where the upload instructions allow it. Multiple copies of the same screenshot do not strengthen an appeal; evidence that directly addresses the cited violation does.
Submit once, then preserve the confirmation
After sending the appeal, save any confirmation screen, ticket number, or message thread. If the app returns an error, take a screenshot of that error and move to the helpdesk route rather than repeatedly tapping a disabled button.

What to do when the Appeal button is missing or unusable
TikTok’s primary route is the control in the ban notification. A missing control can result from a loading failure, an outdated app, a session problem, or a restriction that presents differently in your region. You can still try the documented in-app escalation:
- Open TikTok and sign in to the affected account if the app permits access.
- Tap Profile.
- Tap Menu ☰, then Settings and privacy.
- Choose Report a problem.
- Open Suggestions.
- When asked whether the problem is resolved, select No.
- Tap Need more help? and describe the permanent-ban notice, the unavailable Appeal control, and the date you saw it.
Include the username and linked contact detail in the message, but do not send a password or authentication code. Attach the screenshot of the ban banner and any error message. State that you are requesting review of the permanent ban, not merely reporting a separate app bug.

Use Account check to identify what is actually restricted
A permanent-login ban is different from a restriction on a particular feature. TikTok’s Account check tool can show whether the account has a problem with login, posts, comments, profile editing, or direct messages.

If Account check shows only a post, comment, profile, or messaging restriction, describe that result in your support request. If it shows a login restriction and the banner says the account is permanently banned, focus the appeal on the ban decision itself. The tool does not replace the Appeal control; it helps you distinguish a full account lock from a narrower feature action.
Why TikTok may permanently ban an account
TikTok lists several situations that can lead to a permanent ban. The list below describes the categories in its account-safety guidance; it does not establish that any particular account committed one of them.

Do not guess which category applies if the notice does not say. Ask the helpdesk to identify the relevant decision and then respond to that decision with evidence.
Appeals, strikes, and what happens after approval
TikTok says that when an appeal is approved, the account or content is reinstated unless it was already deleted, and the associated strike is removed. Deleting content yourself does not remove strikes, so deleting posts after receiving the notice is not a substitute for an appeal.
TikTok’s current support guidance in 2026 says account strikes expire after 90 days and then no longer count toward a permanent account ban. That statement concerns how strikes count; it does not promise that a permanent ban will automatically disappear after 90 days, nor does it prevent a separate severe violation from triggering action.
Keep your appeal focused on the decision that caused the ban. If several posts or strikes are listed, address each one separately and explain which evidence belongs to which item. A concise chronology is more useful than repeating the same denial for every entry.

Protect your videos and personal data before access ends
Because TikTok says banned users can still log in to download personal data, make data preservation an early step rather than something to do after the appeal. Export what TikTok makes available while the account remains accessible, and keep the files in more than one secure location.
- Save the ban notice and every support confirmation.
- Download available account data through the in-app option TikTok presents.
- Back up original videos, captions, drafts that are available for export, and records of important messages from your own devices.
- Record the account username and linked contact details in a private note.
- Do not share downloaded data publicly; it may contain personal information about you or other users.
TikTok states that personal data is deleted after a period determined by applicable law and its retention policy. The guidance does not set one universal deadline for every country or data type, so treat access as time-sensitive instead of assuming the files will remain available indefinitely.
Should you create a new TikTok account?
Do not create or use another account to evade the permanent ban. TikTok expressly says it may restrict or permanently ban an account created or used to avoid an existing restriction or permanent ban. A new account can therefore create a second enforcement problem rather than restore access to the first account.
If you already have another account, do not use it to continue the activity that led to the original action or to misrepresent your identity. Use the banned account’s appeal and support channels to ask TikTok to review the decision. If you believe TikTok linked the wrong accounts, explain that connection clearly and provide account identifiers that distinguish them.

Common failure modes and practical fixes
The appeal form loops back to the login screen
Save a screenshot of the loop, record the time, and report it through the in-app helpdesk route if you can reach the menus. In the message, distinguish the failed appeal from the original ban and state that the form cannot be completed.
The app shows a feature restriction, not a permanent ban
Run Account check and quote the affected feature in your support request. A comment or direct-message restriction needs a different explanation from a login ban; combining them can obscure the issue.
You do not know which policy caused the ban
Do not select a random category. Ask the helpdesk to identify the cited decision, attach the ban banner, and provide the account identifiers needed to locate the record.
You deleted the post you think caused the action
Deleting it does not remove strikes. State what was deleted, why you believe the action was mistaken, and what evidence remains, such as an original file or permission record.
You receive no immediate answer
Keep the confirmation and avoid sending a stream of duplicate tickets. If you have new, relevant evidence or a new error, add it to the existing conversation where TikTok provides that option. Repeating an unchanged message does not explain why the decision should change.
A compact checklist before you submit
- Ban banner screenshot saved.
- Username and linked email or phone recorded.
- Date and cited policy reason noted.
- Appeal submitted through the banner, or the exact form error documented.
- Relevant evidence attached and unrelated personal data removed where allowed.
- Helpdesk route attempted if the appeal control is unavailable.
- Account check result recorded.
- Personal data download requested while access remains.
- No replacement account created or used to evade the ban.
What TikTok’s own guidance establishes
TikTok’s account-safety guidance says, “If you believe your account was banned incorrectly, let us know by submitting an appeal.” Its content-violations guidance says, “If your account is banned, you can log in to the account to submit an appeal and download your personal data.” Its creator-code guidance also says, “You can also contact us in the app.” Together, those instructions make the in-app Appeal control the primary route, with the in-app helpdesk as the escalation path when the first route is unavailable.
Those support pages do not show publication dates, and app labels can change. Follow the controls displayed in your current TikTok app and account region, while keeping the evidence and data-preservation steps above.
