Plug the included USB-C cable into a full-function USB-C/DP port on a compatible phone or laptop. The One-series glasses have no battery, so the connected device powers them. iPhone 15 and later USB-C models can connect directly according to XREAL’s guide, although that guide explicitly excludes iPhone 16e. Android devices need USB-C DisplayPort output, and an HDMI-only computer needs a video adapter plus an HDMI-to-USB-C cable.
What you need before connecting
XREAL One Pro+ glasses are not a self-powered monitor. The single cable carries the display signal and power, so compatibility depends on two things at the source port:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- DisplayPort video output: usually called DisplayPort Alt Mode, DP-out, USB-C video, or Thunderbolt video.
- 5V/1A power: enough power for the glasses to remain on while displaying the source.
A USB-C socket that is intended only for charging or data will not produce an image. XREAL recommends checking the phone or computer manufacturer’s specifications when the port capabilities are unclear.

Use the included cable first
Start with the USB-C cable supplied with the glasses. Connect the glasses end to the glasses and the other end to the source’s full-function USB-C port. A replacement cable must support DisplayPort Alt Mode; a charge-only USB-C cable cannot substitute for it.

Understand the power path
The glasses draw power from the connected phone, tablet, laptop, or adapter. XREAL states that One-series glasses do not have a built-in battery. On a phone, this means the handset’s battery will drop faster than it would during ordinary use.
Connect an iPhone
USB-C iPhones: direct connection
XREAL’s March 3, 2025 connection guide says iPhone 15 and later USB-C models can connect directly. The compatibility table groups USB-C iPhone 15, 16, and 17 families for this direct path; the guide specifically excludes iPhone 16e, so do not assume that every USB-C iPhone works.
- Confirm that the iPhone is a supported USB-C model. Treat iPhone 16e as excluded unless XREAL publishes a later compatibility update.
- Unlock the phone and connect the supplied USB-C cable to the iPhone’s USB-C port.
- Connect the other end to the glasses.
- Wait for the iPhone to detect the external display. The phone supplies the glasses’ power, so no separate battery is installed in the eyewear.
- Put on the glasses and start the video, app, or desktop content you want to view.
XREAL’s guide says mobile devices automatically switch audio to the glasses when they are connected. If the image appears but sound remains on the phone, open the iPhone’s audio-output selector and choose the connected glasses.

- It converts the iPhone’s video output to a format the glasses can accept.
- It provides USB-C DisplayPort video rather than USB-C charging only.
- It accepts external power while the phone is sending video.
Many inexpensive Lightning-to-USB-C leads carry power or data but do not create a usable DisplayPort signal. If the adapter does not explicitly support video conversion for USB-C displays, it is not a safe choice.
Connect an Android phone or tablet
Check for DisplayPort Alt Mode
Android compatibility is model-specific. The phone or tablet must have a USB-C port with DisplayPort video output. USB-C by itself is not enough, and Android’s ability to mirror wirelessly does not indicate that its wired port supports DP Alt Mode.
- Look up the exact model’s specifications for “DisplayPort Alt Mode,” “DP-out,” or USB-C video output.
- Charge the phone before connecting if you plan to watch for a long time.
- Connect the supplied USB-C cable to the phone or tablet’s video-capable port.
- Connect the other end to the glasses and wait for the external display to initialize.
- Open the app or content you want to mirror. If the device offers a desktop mode, select it when you want a desktop-style interface instead of simple mirroring.
XREAL reports approximately four to six hours of normal viewing from a fully charged Android phone or tablet. That is an expected-use estimate from XREAL’s guide, not a guaranteed runtime; screen brightness, app workload, battery health, and the handset model change the result.

A phone normally cannot both power the glasses and accept a charger through the same USB-C socket. XREAL recommends its Hub for extended sessions because it provides a charging path while the glasses remain connected. Use a power source and cable that meet the Hub’s requirements, and expect the phone to charge more slowly if the glasses are drawing power at the same time.

Connect a laptop directly over USB-C
Windows or MacBook with USB-C DisplayPort output
A laptop can connect directly when one of its USB-C or Thunderbolt ports carries DisplayPort video and enough power. The port may have a DisplayPort logo, a Thunderbolt symbol, or a specification that explicitly says video output. Some laptops have several USB-C sockets with different capabilities, so test the port identified for display output rather than assuming they are equivalent.
- Save work and identify the laptop’s USB-C/Thunderbolt port with DP video output.
- Connect the supplied cable to that port.
- Connect the other end to the glasses.
- In Windows, press
Win+Pand choose Duplicate, Extend, or Second screen only as appropriate. In macOS, open System Settings > Displays and arrange or mirror the external display. - Open the computer’s sound settings and select XREAL One or XREAL Pro as the audio output. XREAL’s guide identifies these names for computer audio selection.
If the computer sees the glasses but the screen is black, confirm that the selected display mode is sending a signal to the external display and that the cable is in the laptop’s DP-capable port.
Connect an HDMI-only laptop, desktop, or console
HDMI cannot plug directly into the glasses’ USB-C display input. XREAL specifies an HDMI adapter and an HDMI-to-USB-C cable for HDMI computers and consoles. The adapter must convert HDMI video into USB-C DisplayPort-compatible output and must be powered when its design requires it.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches- Connect the source’s HDMI output to a compatible HDMI-to-USB-C video adapter.
- Connect the adapter’s USB-C display output to the glasses with the required HDMI-to-USB cable or the cable specified by the adapter.
- Attach the adapter’s power lead or powered hub if the adapter requires external power.
- Turn on the source and select the HDMI output’s normal resolution and refresh settings.
- Set the computer’s audio output to the XREAL glasses if the adapter exposes an audio device. HDMI audio behavior varies by adapter.
A USB-C socket on an HDMI adapter may be charging-only, and a laptop’s USB-C charging port cannot magically become a video port. If the adapter documentation does not state that it converts HDMI to a USB-C display connection for glasses or monitors, choose another adapter.

- SMARTPHONE USAGE REMINDER: Verify your phone’s Type-C port supports DisplayPort video output before purchase. Due to the limited compatibility of the MINI chip in the HUB when iPhone 15 to 17 series paired with some AR glasses may show screen flicker. We recommend that users of iPhone 15 to 17 series purchase our higher-compatibility updated hubs. Search for ASIN B0G59TSXFP or B0GD1WS14Q on Amazon.
- AR GLASSES USAGE REMINDER: For no sound or no video issues on Xreal AR glasses, switch the glasses to DisplayPort Alt Mode following the official manual, not for HDMI-only devices like PS4, PS5 and Xbox, search ASIN B0DSZXZSTX for our dedicated HDMI to USB-C hub, do not use two hubs together.
- Viture Beast AR GLASSES USAGE REMINDER: Please do not update Viture Beast to a system version released after June 2026, as this may cause the HUB to be incompatible with Viture Beast. If you have already upgraded, please roll back the system to the May version (0.01.024_20260521).

Phones and tablets
XREAL says mobile devices automatically use the glasses’ audio when connected. If audio stays on the handset, open the system’s media-output control and select the XREAL device. Also check the phone’s volume and any app-specific mute control.
Windows and macOS
Computers may continue using their built-in speakers until you change the output device. In the sound settings, choose XREAL One or XREAL Pro. If those entries are absent, disconnect and reconnect the cable, then check whether the operating system has detected an external display and audio device.

Troubleshoot “XREAL glasses no display”
No image at all
- Verify the source port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode or Thunderbolt video, not only charging and data.
- Reseat both ends of the cable; a loose USB-C connection can interrupt both video and power.
- Try another known-good DP-capable phone, tablet, or laptop. This separates a glasses or cable issue from a source-port limitation.
- On a computer, use the operating system’s display settings to detect or enable the external display.
- For HDMI, confirm that the adapter is a genuine video converter and that its power input is connected.
The glasses turn off or restart
Because the cable is the power path, an intermittent connection or an underpowered adapter can make the glasses shut down. Reconnect the cable firmly, test the supplied cable, and add the appropriately powered hub or adapter specified for the HDMI setup. A phone with a critically low battery may also stop supplying stable power.
The phone battery drains rapidly
This is expected when the phone is powering the glasses. XREAL’s guide gives four to six hours of normal viewing from a fully charged Android phone or tablet and recommends the XREAL Hub for longer phone sessions. Lowering phone brightness does not necessarily reduce the glasses’ power draw, because the external display remains active.
HDMI setup still fails
- Check that the source is outputting through HDMI and that the adapter accepts that resolution and refresh rate.
- Confirm that the adapter converts HDMI video to a USB-C display signal; a USB-C charging output is insufficient.
- Provide the adapter’s required external power before connecting the glasses.
- Try the setup with another HDMI source to identify whether the problem is the source, adapter, cable, or glasses.
There is video but no computer audio
Open the computer’s sound-output list and select XREAL One or XREAL Pro. If the device is missing, reconnect the glasses and check whether the operating system has loaded the display connection; video and audio are often enumerated together by the same USB-C or HDMI path.

Safe buying checklist for adapters and replacement cables
Match the accessory to the signal path rather than to the connector shape. Before purchasing, check:
- USB-C replacement cable: explicitly supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, not just charging or USB data.
- HDMI adapter: explicitly converts HDMI video to a USB-C display output suitable for external monitors or glasses.
- Power: adapter or hub accepts the external power needed to maintain the glasses’ 5V/1A requirement.
- Direction: HDMI-to-USB-C and USB-C-to-HDMI are not interchangeable; use the direction required by your source.
- Phone charging: use a hub with a charging input when you need to power the phone and glasses during the same session.
The most common mistake is buying an adapter because it has the right-shaped USB-C plug while overlooking whether that USB-C port carries DisplayPort video.
Quick decision guide
- Is the source a USB-C iPhone 15 or later model listed as compatible? Use the supplied cable directly, but treat iPhone 16e as excluded by XREAL’s guide.
- Is it an Android phone or tablet? Confirm DP Alt Mode first. If present, connect directly; add the XREAL Hub when charging during use matters.
- Is it a laptop with USB-C video? Connect directly through the DP-capable port and select XREAL One/Pro for audio.
- Is it HDMI-only? Use a powered HDMI-to-USB-C video adapter and the required HDMI-to-USB cable.
- Does the source have only Lightning or charge-only USB-C? A direct cable will not work; choose a separately powered, video-capable conversion solution or a different source.
Once the port, signal direction, and power requirements all match, setup is generally plug-and-play. When they do not, changing software settings cannot create a DisplayPort signal that the hardware never provides.
