To connect Samsung Galaxy Buds to a laptop, first put the earbuds into Bluetooth pairing mode using the gesture for your exact Buds generation. Then turn on Bluetooth in Windows, choose Add device, select Bluetooth, and click the Galaxy Buds when they appear. The pairing control is different on Buds4, Buds3, Buds2 and the original Buds families, so using the wrong gesture is the most common reason the earbuds do not show up.
The fastest way to pair Galaxy Buds with a laptop
- Charge the earbuds and place them close to the laptop.
- Use the model-specific instructions below to enter Bluetooth pairing mode. Keep the case open when the instructions say to do so.
- In Windows 11, open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Add device > Bluetooth. In Windows 10, open Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices > Add Bluetooth or other device > Bluetooth.
- Select the Galaxy Buds from the available-device list and choose Connect.
After successful pairing, Windows normally reconnects the Buds automatically whenever they are in range and Bluetooth is enabled. Pairing is handled by ordinary Windows Bluetooth settings; Samsung also documents an optional Galaxy Buds PC program for Windows 11 management.

Before you start: check the laptop and earbuds
- Confirm Bluetooth hardware. Some laptops do not contain a Bluetooth radio. Check the computer’s specifications or Bluetooth settings before troubleshooting the earbuds.
- Turn Bluetooth on. Windows 11 exposes Bluetooth in Quick Settings and under Settings > Bluetooth & devices. Windows 10 uses Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices.
- Keep the devices nearby. Discovery is most reliable when the open case or earbuds are close to the laptop.
- Know the exact Buds generation. Buds4 and Buds3 use a case button, Buds2 uses both earbuds’ touch controls while they are in the case, and the original Buds families use both worn touchpads.
- Allow time for discovery. Pairing mode is temporary and must remain active while Windows scans. If the indicator stops or the Buds disappear from the list, activate pairing mode again before retrying.
Put each Galaxy Buds model into pairing mode
Pairing mode makes the earbuds discoverable. The indicator sequence or sound confirms that the Buds are ready for Windows to find them. Do not assume that a procedure for one generation applies to another.
| Galaxy Buds model | Pairing action | Confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Buds4 and Buds4 Pro | Put both earbuds in the case, open the case, then hold the connect button on the back for more than three seconds. | The case indicator flashes blue, red and green in sequence. |
| Buds3 and Buds3 Pro | Put both earbuds in the open case and hold the connect button on the bottom for more than three seconds. | The indicator flashes blue, red and green. |
| Buds2 and Buds2 Pro | Put both earbuds in the open case. Touch and hold both earbuds simultaneously for more than three seconds. | The indicator flashes blue, red and green. |
| Original Galaxy Buds, Buds+, Buds Live and Buds Pro | Wear both earbuds and touch and hold both touchpads for more than three seconds. | A sound indicates that pairing mode is active. |
For Buds4 and Buds3, the case needs to be open while you hold its connect button. For Buds2, both earbuds stay seated in the open case while you touch them. For the original Buds, Buds+, Buds Live and Buds Pro, both earbuds must be worn so you can hold both touchpads at once. These physical differences explain why a case-button search may fail on an older pair.
#1 Best Overall
- EXCEPTIONAL AUDIO: Catch details like never before. Designed with a High-Res Audio¹ 24-bit hi-fi codec, the latest Galaxy earbuds maintain the integrity of your favorite audio over Bluetooth.
- TWO-WAY SPEAKER: Enjoy every audio experience to the fullest with two speakers in both Buds, including a tweeter for rich highs and a woofer for deep, full lows.
- HD VOICE: Enjoy clear phone calls with Galaxy Buds4 Pro and Galaxy S26 Series² —they work together to deliver crisp and clear conversations.
- ANC 2.0: Wherever you go, Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation 2.0³ intelligently adapts in real time to provide stronger, smoother noise cancellation wherever you go.
- OPTIMIZED COMFORT: Enjoy that just-right fit, with an improved, ear-hugging design and changeable ear tips.
Do not substitute one generation’s gesture for another. For example, holding the case button will not put Buds2 into pairing mode, and the case-button procedure does not apply to the original Buds families.
Connect Galaxy Buds in Windows 11
Use Settings
- Put the Buds into pairing mode with the model-specific action above.
- Open Settings from the Start menu.
- Select Bluetooth & devices and make sure Bluetooth is switched on.
- Choose Add device, then select Bluetooth.
- Wait for the Galaxy Buds name to appear in the list of discoverable devices.
- Select the Buds and choose Connect.
If more than one Bluetooth product is nearby, read the device names carefully before selecting one. Leave the Buds in pairing mode until Windows finishes the connection. Once the first pairing succeeds, Windows stores the Buds as a known device and normally reconnects when both sides are nearby with Bluetooth enabled.
Use Quick Settings to reach Bluetooth
Windows 11 also provides Bluetooth controls in Quick Settings. Turn Bluetooth on there, then continue through Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Add device > Bluetooth to complete the pairing. Quick Settings is only the on/off shortcut; the initial device enrollment still uses the Add device flow. The earbuds must remain in pairing mode while Windows scans.

Connect Galaxy Buds in Windows 10
- Enter pairing mode using the instructions for your Buds model.
- Open Settings, then select Devices.
- Choose Bluetooth & other devices and turn Bluetooth on.
- Select Add Bluetooth or other device.
- Choose Bluetooth, select the Galaxy Buds, and follow the connection prompt.
The documented pairing flow still works on Windows 10, but Microsoft ended Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025. The operating system continues to run, yet it no longer receives free Windows Update software updates, technical assistance or security fixes. That support status is separate from whether Bluetooth pairing can complete, so a Windows 10 laptop can still follow the Bluetooth steps while operating without Microsoft’s ongoing support protections.

If Galaxy Buds do not appear in the Bluetooth list
Work through these checks in order. Each step addresses a different failure point, so replacing the laptop or buying an adapter should not be the first response.
1. Verify that the laptop actually has Bluetooth
Some PCs have no built-in Bluetooth hardware. If Bluetooth controls are absent, check the laptop’s specifications. Microsoft identifies a USB Bluetooth adapter as the way to add Bluetooth to a computer that lacks the hardware. An adapter will not fix earbuds that are simply out of pairing mode, an old Windows pairing record or a driver problem. Check the specifications first so you do not spend money on an adapter for a laptop that already has Bluetooth.
2. Re-enter pairing mode for the exact generation
Close and reopen the case if your model uses a case procedure, then repeat the correct button or touch-control action for more than three seconds. Look for the blue-red-green indicator sequence, or the pairing sound on the original Buds families. Windows cannot list the Buds if they are powered on but not discoverable. If the case button is in a different location than expected, verify whether you have Buds4/Buds4 Pro, Buds3/Buds3 Pro or an earlier family before trying again.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3. Check Windows discovery conditions
In Windows 11, review the Bluetooth device-discovery setting if a device is not listed. Toggle Bluetooth off and on, make sure Airplane mode is off, and keep the laptop and Buds within normal Bluetooth range. Start a fresh scan after the earbuds’ pairing indicator is active. These checks matter because Bluetooth can be enabled while Windows discovery is restricted, and Airplane mode can disable wireless functions even when the settings page is open.

4. Remove a failed or stale pairing
An earlier Windows entry can prevent a clean reconnection. Open the laptop’s Bluetooth settings, select the existing Galaxy Buds entry, remove or forget that device, and then repeat Add device > Bluetooth. Put the earbuds back into pairing mode before starting the new scan. Removing the old entry is especially relevant when the Buds name is visible but selecting it does not complete the connection.
5. Run Windows Bluetooth troubleshooting
If Bluetooth hardware is present and the Buds still cannot be discovered or connected, use Windows’ Bluetooth troubleshooter. Also check for an updated driver for the laptop’s Bluetooth adapter. Driver updates are relevant when Bluetooth is visible but behaves inconsistently; they are not a substitute for installing hardware that the laptop does not have. If the adapter is missing entirely, return to the hardware check rather than treating a driver update as a universal fix.
Choosing the right fix for the symptom
| What you see | Most likely checkpoint | Action |
|---|---|---|
| No Bluetooth switch anywhere in Windows | The laptop may lack Bluetooth hardware. | Check specifications; use a USB Bluetooth adapter only if the hardware is absent. |
| Bluetooth is on, but Galaxy Buds are not listed | The earbuds are not discoverable or Windows discovery is restricted. | Repeat the model-specific pairing gesture, check Windows discovery, toggle Bluetooth, disable Airplane mode and retry nearby. |
| The Buds name appears, but connection fails | An old or failed pairing record may be interfering. | Remove the existing Windows device entry, re-enter pairing mode and add the Buds again. |
| Bluetooth keeps malfunctioning after re-pairing | A Windows Bluetooth or adapter-driver problem is possible. | Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter and check for a current adapter driver. |
Using Samsung’s Galaxy Buds PC program
Samsung’s Korean support instructions dated April 13, 2026 describe installing a Galaxy Buds program from the Microsoft Store on Windows 11. The program can provide a connection workflow and access to settings, software updates and service status.
Samsung’s walkthrough is based on Galaxy Buds4 and Windows 11. Treat the program as an optional management path rather than a prerequisite: the core connection works through Windows Bluetooth settings. Available controls can vary with the Buds model and its software version, so an older generation may not expose every feature shown in the program. If the app does not offer a control you expected, use the ordinary Windows Bluetooth path for pairing and regard the app as a management convenience.

What “connected” means in practice
Pairing is the initial exchange that saves the laptop and earbuds as known Bluetooth devices. Connection is the later active link used when both are nearby and Bluetooth is on. A successful first pairing normally allows automatic reconnection under those conditions. If Windows forgets the device, the earbuds are moved out of range, or Bluetooth is disabled, you may need to start the connection from the Bluetooth settings again. Automatic reconnection does not remove the need to keep Bluetooth enabled on the laptop or to place the Buds within range.

Do I need Samsung software to pair Galaxy Buds with a laptop?
No. Ordinary Windows Bluetooth settings are sufficient. Samsung documents an optional Galaxy Buds program from the Microsoft Store for Windows 11 that can add settings, software updates and service-status access. Its controls depend on the Buds model and software version.
Can I use a USB Bluetooth adapter with Galaxy Buds?
Yes, but only when the laptop lacks built-in Bluetooth hardware. Check the laptop specifications first. An adapter does not correct incorrect pairing mode, a stale Windows pairing, restricted discovery or an outdated existing adapter driver.
Can I still pair Galaxy Buds on Windows 10?
Yes, the documented Windows 10 Bluetooth flow remains available: Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices > Add Bluetooth or other device > Bluetooth. Microsoft ended Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025, so the system no longer receives free Windows Update software updates, technical assistance or security fixes.

Galaxy Buds pair with a laptop through Bluetooth, but the first step depends on the generation: case button for Buds4 and Buds3, both earbuds in the case for Buds2, and both worn touchpads for the original families. Once the indicator or pairing sound confirms discoverability, use Windows Add device > Bluetooth. If the Buds are missing, check hardware, discovery, pairing mode, stale device entries and drivers in that order. Buy a USB Bluetooth adapter only when the laptop truly has no Bluetooth radio.
