“Pocket Commander” is not a controller or accessory. It is Roger Jr.’s nickname in TEKKEN 8. You do not connect Roger Jr. directly to a computer or console; you connect a compatible controller to your PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, or Windows PC, then play the character inside TEKKEN 8. Bandai Namco’s announcements do not identify a device called Pocket Commander or provide model-specific controller instructions.
What “Pocket Commander” refers to
Bandai Namco describes Roger Jr. as a playable character in TEKKEN 8. “Pocket Commander” is a nickname used for the character, not the name of a gamepad, arcade stick, cable, Bluetooth accessory, or computer peripheral.

That distinction matters because a search for connection instructions can lead you to look for a nonexistent Roger Jr. device. There is no separate Roger Jr. hardware to pair, plug in, install, or update. The hardware connection depends entirely on the controller you own and the platform on which you run TEKKEN 8.
Bandai Namco’s official announcements, dated October 12, 2026, identify the game platforms as PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam. They do not specify a controller model, cable standard, wireless protocol, driver, adapter, or setup procedure for “Pocket Commander.”

Where you can play Roger Jr.
| Platform | What the official announcement establishes | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation 5 | TEKKEN 8 is listed for PS5. | It does not name a required controller model or explain pairing steps. |
| Xbox Series X|S | TEKKEN 8 is listed for Xbox Series X|S. | It does not identify a required gamepad, cable, or wireless adapter. |
| PC via Steam | TEKKEN 8 is listed for PC through Steam. | It does not confirm compatibility for an unspecified third-party controller. |
The platform listing tells you where the game is available; it is not a compatibility list for every controller. A precise connection answer requires the controller’s manufacturer and model number.
When Roger Jr. becomes available
Roger Jr. is described by Bandai Namco Europe as the third playable character of TEKKEN 8 Season 3. Bandai Namco Entertainment America announced the following access dates:
| Audience | Announced date | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Season Pass 3 holders in North America | November 12, 2026 | This was announced access for pass holders, not a statement that a physical device would ship. |
| All players | November 17, 2026 | This was announced general availability. |
Those dates were announced before release and should be treated as announced availability dates rather than proof that the character has already appeared on every account or platform. If Roger Jr. is not visible in your game, check the platform’s current game and downloadable-content status and confirm that your copy is updated. The announcements do not provide a separate activation code or controller requirement.
What you actually need to connect
You need three separate things:
- A supported platform: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, or a Windows PC running the Steam version of TEKKEN 8.
- A controller: Use the gamepad, arcade stick, keyboard, or other input device you intend to use, provided that its manufacturer and the platform document support for that combination.
- The game and character access: Install or update TEKKEN 8 and use the entitlement under which Roger Jr. is available, such as the announced Season Pass 3 access or the announced general release.
Nothing in the official Roger Jr. announcements establishes that one particular controller is necessary. Do not buy an item marketed as a “Pocket Commander” solely because it appears in a search result; first verify whether it is actually a controller and identify its exact model.
General connection workflow
The exact menus and pairing sequence vary by controller and platform. The following workflow keeps the game-character question separate from the hardware question and avoids assuming an unsupported connection method.

- What You Will Get: 1 x Wireless adapter, 1 x User manual, 1 x Elegant packaging
- Identify the hardware. Read the nameplate, packaging, or manual and record the manufacturer, full model number, connection type, and platform modes. “Pocket Commander” by itself is not enough information.
- Confirm platform support. Check the controller’s own compatibility documentation for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or Windows PC. A device that works on a PC is not automatically authorized for a console, and a console-specific device is not automatically usable on Windows.
- Follow the controller maker’s documented connection method. That may involve a wired connection, console pairing procedure, Bluetooth, or a separately documented adapter. The Roger Jr. announcements do not select among these methods.
- Check whether the platform recognizes the input. Before troubleshooting TEKKEN 8, verify that the console or Windows system itself sees the controller and that its buttons or axes respond in the platform’s own input test or settings area.
- Start or update TEKKEN 8. Install available game updates and, when applicable, the content associated with the Season 3 entitlement. If the character is unavailable, resolve the game-content entitlement issue before changing controller settings.
- Test in a low-risk mode. Use the game’s practice or training environment to confirm that directional inputs, buttons, and menu navigation work. This separates a controller-recognition problem from a character-access problem.
- Select Roger Jr. Once the character is available in your version of the game, choose Roger Jr. through the normal character-selection interface. The nickname “Pocket Commander” does not create a second character slot or hardware profile.
PC through Steam: what can and cannot be confirmed
The official announcement confirms that TEKKEN 8 is available on PC through Steam. It does not state that every USB, Bluetooth, arcade, or adaptive controller works, nor does it publish a Roger Jr.-specific driver or configuration.
If Steam does not detect your controller
- Recheck the controller’s model-specific Windows and Steam compatibility information.
- Reconnect the device using the method documented by its manufacturer.
- Close and reopen Steam or the game after the operating system begins recognizing the controller.
- Test the device outside the game. If Windows cannot see it, changing a character or downloadable-content setting in TEKKEN 8 will not solve the hardware problem.
- Remove unneeded adapters or remapping software while diagnosing the basic connection, because each extra layer can change how the game receives inputs.
These are general isolation steps, not a claim that any particular controller or adapter is supported by Bandai Namco. For exact menu names, consult the current Steam and controller documentation for your hardware.

PlayStation 5: what can and cannot be confirmed
Bandai Namco lists PS5 as a TEKKEN 8 platform, but the Roger Jr. announcements do not describe PS5 controller pairing or certify third-party hardware. Use the controller type and connection procedure documented for your PS5-compatible device.
If the game does not respond on PS5
- Confirm that the console recognizes the controller before launching the game.
- Try the controller’s documented wired or wireless pairing process again.
- Check that the game is fully updated and that your account has the announced entitlement for Roger Jr., if the issue is that the character is missing rather than that buttons fail.
- Test another input in the game’s menus or practice environment. Menu failure indicates an input-recognition issue; a missing character with working menus indicates a content or availability issue.
Xbox Series X|S: what can and cannot be confirmed
Xbox Series X|S is also listed as a TEKKEN 8 platform. The official character announcements do not name an Xbox controller model, accessory, or adapter, so compatibility must come from the controller manufacturer and Xbox documentation.
If the game does not respond on Xbox
- Verify that the console detects the controller independently of TEKKEN 8.
- Repeat the hardware maker’s documented pairing or wired-connection procedure.
- Check the game update and the account’s Roger Jr. availability before treating the problem as a controller fault.
- Use practice or another menu to determine whether all input is missing or only a particular button mapping is wrong.
How to tell a hardware problem from a character-access problem
| What you observe | Most useful next check |
|---|---|
| The platform does not detect the controller at all. | Follow the controller’s model-specific pairing, cable, power, and platform-support documentation. |
| The platform detects the controller, but TEKKEN 8 ignores every input. | Test the device in another game or platform input screen, then review the game’s input configuration and any remapping layer. |
| Menus work, but Roger Jr. is absent. | Check the game update, your Season Pass 3 entitlement if applicable, and the announced availability date for your region and access tier. |
| Only one button or direction fails. | Check the controller’s button test and the game’s mapping; this is different from a missing character entitlement. |
| A search result calls a product “Pocket Commander.” | Verify its manufacturer, model number, and manual. The official announcements use “Pocket Commander” as Roger Jr.’s nickname, not as a product name. |
What the official announcements do not say
For clarity, the available publisher material does not establish any of the following:

- That Pocket Commander is a physical controller or accessory.
- That Roger Jr. requires a special gamepad, arcade stick, cable, adapter, or driver.
- That a particular third-party controller works on all three listed platforms.
- That a specific USB or Bluetooth procedure is endorsed for Roger Jr.
- That the character can be installed separately from TEKKEN 8 as a standalone application.
Any article or video giving exact connection instructions without first naming the controller model is answering a different question. It may describe that product’s setup, but it is not evidence of a special Roger Jr. connection process.
If you meant a real controller named “Pocket Commander”
A product with that name would be a separate hardware question. Before attempting to connect it, gather:
- Manufacturer and complete model number.
- Whether it is wired, Bluetooth, radio-based, or requires a dedicated adapter.
- Supported platforms and operating-system versions stated by the maker.
- Required firmware, driver, companion app, or console mode.
- The exact platform: PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, or Windows PC through Steam.
With those details, connection instructions can be written for the hardware itself. Without them, prescribing a cable, pairing sequence, or driver would risk damaging the device, wasting time, or claiming compatibility that has not been established.
Bottom line for the requested connection
You cannot connect Roger Jr. or “Pocket Commander” directly to a PC or console because Roger Jr. is an in-game TEKKEN 8 character. Connect your own supported controller according to its manufacturer’s instructions, run TEKKEN 8 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or PC via Steam, and confirm that Roger Jr. is available under the announced Season 3 access terms. For model-specific help, the missing information is the controller’s exact model and your target platform.
