Happo supports GitHub Actions. Add a workflow file under .github/workflows, then follow Happo’s maintained continuous-integration instructions for the current commands and credential setup. The available official material confirms the integration, but does not establish a complete, verified workflow YAML example—so don’t copy a guessed recipe into your CI.
Where the GitHub Actions setup goes
GitHub Actions reads workflow definitions from the repository’s .github/workflows directory. Create or edit a file there with a .yml or .yaml extension. A workflow generally defines a trigger, a job with a runner, and steps that run scripts or actions. Triggers can be repository events, manual dispatches, or schedules; choose one that fits your project rather than treating any trigger as a Happo requirement.
Happo lists GitHub Actions as a supported developer-tool integration and describes a CI flow that runs screenshots and compares them with a baseline. For the Happo-specific workflow steps, use its maintained CI documentation.
What Happo’s package documentation establishes
The current Happo repository identifies happo as the npm package. It shows npm install happo --save-dev as an installation command, npx happo as a CLI example, and HAPPO_API_KEY plus HAPPO_API_SECRET as configuration inputs. These are useful package-level pointers, not a complete GitHub Actions recipe: they do not by themselves establish the required workflow steps or the recommended way to configure secrets in GitHub.

Happo’s pricing page says the CLI auto-detects GitHub Actions and other common CI providers. Provider detection does not replace the integration guide or tell you how to configure your project.
Set up the workflow without guessing Happo-specific steps
- Check your project configuration. Read Happo’s current CI guide and confirm the project prerequisites and configuration it requires.
- Add the workflow file. Put a YAML file in
.github/workflows. Define the trigger and job structure appropriate to your repository. - Follow Happo’s current instructions for the job steps. Use the commands and sequence in the maintained guide instead of assuming that installing the package and running
npx happois sufficient. - Configure credentials as Happo documents. The package repository names
HAPPO_API_KEYandHAPPO_API_SECRET, but confirm the current guide’s exact credential-handling instructions before adding them to GitHub. Do not commit credentials in the workflow file or source code. - Run the workflow and review its result. Confirm that the job completes and that Happo produces the intended screenshot comparison. Configure any required checks or follow-up behavior according to your repository’s needs and Happo’s instructions.
Why there is no copy-ready YAML here
The current official information establishes that Happo supports GitHub Actions, but the available details do not specify a complete workflow, exact credential-handling steps, action versions, branch triggers, artifact handling, caching, or required-check behavior. Those details can change or depend on a project. A workflow containing plausible-looking commands would risk presenting assumptions as Happo’s verified setup; check the maintained CI guide for the exact current recipe before publishing or adopting YAML.

Package choice: use the current Happo package
Use the current happo npm package, not the older standalone happo/happo.io repository. That older repository was archived on May 11, 2026 and says the package was merged into happo. Avoid installing the archived package for a new setup.
Or skip the browser setup
If your goal is to capture a page from an existing CI job rather than run Happo’s visual regression integration, ScreenshotNeo offers a screenshot API and MCP server. A single GET request can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. For example, this cURL request saves a WebP screenshot:

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each of those steps can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides screenshot and PDF tools for AI agents. The free plan includes 1,000 shots per month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.
