To connect Fitbit data with Samsung Health, use Health Connect on an Android phone: set up sharing in the Google Health app, then grant the desired data permissions to both Google Health and Samsung Health. This is a permission-based connection through Android—not a direct Fitbit-to-Samsung account link—and only supported data types can sync.
One naming change may affect the instructions: Google says the Fitbit app becomes the Google Health app beginning May 19, 2026. If your Fitbit app is still tied to a Fitbit account, Google says you must move that account to a Google Account to use the new app. Menu names can vary by app and Android version.

What you need before connecting the apps
- An Android phone running Android 9 or later and an adult Google Account. Google’s Google Health Help Center instructions for Health Connect list these requirements.
- The Google Health app. Fitbit-account users may need to move their account to a Google Account, as described in Google’s Fitbit app transition guidance.
- Samsung Health updated to a version that supports Health Connect. Samsung’s FAQ says integration is supported in Samsung Health 6.22.5 and later; update the app and check its permissions if the option is missing.
- Health Connect, which is available on Android only. On Android 14 and later, open Settings → Security and privacy → Privacy Controls → Health Connect. On Android 13 and earlier, install Health Connect from Google Play, then find it under Settings → Apps → All apps. Android menu labels can differ by device.
For current app-specific instructions, see Google’s Health Connect guide, Samsung’s Health Connect FAQ and Android’s Health Connect overview.

- Start in Google Health: open Connections → Partner apps → Sync your favorite health apps → Set up.
- Choose what Google Health may share: follow the prompts, select the data types you want, and decide whether to allow all, selected items or no access for each requested category. Google Health may ask separately for historical-data access and background syncing.
- Set Health Connect permissions: open Health Connect’s app permissions and choose the read and write access you want for Google Health and Samsung Health. Permissions are specific to data types; grant only the categories you intend to share.
- Enable access in Samsung Health: open Samsung Health → Settings → Health Connect → App permissions and allow the relevant categories. Samsung advises launching Samsung Health after granting Android-level permissions.
- Check Samsung Health’s own sync: if its data still looks stale, open Samsung Health → Settings → Sync with Samsung account → Sync now.
- Check Google Health’s connection status: open Connections → Partner apps → Manage Health Connect. Google documents a manual Sync control there. A recent sync status confirms activity, not that every metric is supported.
These steps enable sharing through Health Connect; they do not guarantee that a particular record or data type will appear in both apps.

What Fitbit data can appear in Samsung Health?
Samsung identifies activity data such as steps and exercise, heart rate and sleep among the categories that can synchronize through Health Connect. Google Health lets you choose data types, while Android cautions that connected apps do not necessarily support every type. In practice, only data that an app supports and that you have permitted to be read or written can be shared.
The available documentation does not establish that every Fitbit metric, detailed workout, historical record or past entry will transfer. Nor does it establish that the apps combine or deduplicate every step, exercise or sleep record. If totals differ, the apps’ supported sources and calculations may affect what each displays; the connection alone does not identify the cause of an individual discrepancy.

Troubleshoot missing or outdated data
No data appears in either app
- Confirm Google Health and Samsung Health both have the intended Health Connect permissions for the specific data type.
- Check that the source app is allowed to write that category and the receiving app is allowed to read it. Google’s Health Connect troubleshooting guidance calls out both sides of that permission.
- Look in Health Connect for records of the relevant type. If none are there, troubleshoot the app or device that should have written them before treating Samsung Health as the problem.
Samsung Health is not refreshing
- Update Samsung Health.
- In Samsung Health, open Settings → Health Connect → App permissions and review access.
- Launch Samsung Health after granting permissions in Android settings.
- If needed, use Samsung Health → Settings → Sync with Samsung account → Sync now.
Google Health shows an old sync time
Open Google Health → Connections → Partner apps → Manage Health Connect and use the manual Sync control. Google’s guide also recommends updating the app if the data remains stale. A status such as “Synced just now,” a recent time or “Syncing” describes connection activity; it is not proof that all requested data types have transferred.
The Fitbit wearable is not syncing to Google Health
This is a separate step from sharing data with Samsung Health. Check that Google Health has the phone permissions it needs and is allowed to use background data and background battery activity. Google notes that Android background limits can interfere with automatic Fitbit syncing; see its Android syncing guidance.

A new data type is unavailable
Review Health Connect permissions again. Google says a newly available metric may require you to review and grant its permission in the Google Health app.
You want to disconnect the apps
Disconnecting in Google Health may not remove its Health Connect permissions. To revoke access there too, open Health Connect’s app permissions and remove Google Health’s access to the categories you no longer want shared.

What happens to your health data?
Health Connect keeps its database locally on the Android device. Android says Google does not use the cloud to store data that connected apps send to Health Connect, and users can control app access and delete entries or categories there. But local Health Connect storage is not the same as every app’s storage: Android warns that connected apps or devices may retain their own copies, so deleting a Health Connect record alone may not delete copies elsewhere.
Google’s Health Connect instructions also say that Google Health data from other connected apps is stored in the user’s account and may be used to calculate Google Health metrics. Review permissions and deletion controls in each app as well as in Health Connect if you want to manage data across the full connection.
