Whether you can pair Bluetooth audio with a Vizio TV depends on the exact model. Some Vizio sets list headphone support in their official specifications. Others don’t, and a Bluetooth chip alone doesn’t guarantee you can send TV sound to headphones. Check your full model number first, then pair. If your set can’t do it, an optical-input Bluetooth transmitter is the usual workaround.
Step 1: Confirm your TV supports Bluetooth headphones
Find the full model number on the back of the TV or in the TV’s system information menu. Then open that model’s specifications page on Vizio’s website, or its user manual, and look for the wording Vizio uses. Vizio’s pages use labels such as “Bluetooth Headphone Support” and “Bluetooth Headphone Capability.”

These four entries show individual models only. They don’t establish that every Vizio TV works this way. Look for the explicit headphone line rather than relying on a Bluetooth version number. Bluetooth in a TV may exist for other purposes, such as a remote or setup.

Step 2: Pair your headphones or speaker
Vizio publishes an official support article, “Pairing a Bluetooth audio device to your VIZIO TV.” Use it and your model’s manual for the exact menu names, because they can differ between models and software versions. I couldn’t verify a single menu path that applies to every Vizio set, so the sequence below is a general outline, not Vizio’s official wording.
- Charge the headphones and turn them on.
- Put them into pairing mode. This is usually a long press on the power or Bluetooth button until a light flashes. Your headphone manual has the exact method.
- On the TV, open the settings menu with the remote and look for an audio, sound or Bluetooth section. Menu names depend on the model.
- Choose the option to add or pair a Bluetooth device and wait for the TV to scan.
- Select your headphones from the list and confirm. Sound should move from the TV speakers to the headphones.
If a headphone or Bluetooth audio option doesn’t appear anywhere in the menus, go back to Step 1 and verify the model’s stated capability.

If your Vizio doesn’t support Bluetooth headphones
You have three practical paths. None of them comes from Vizio’s pairing article. They are general approaches.

Use a wired connection
If your TV has a headphone jack or an analog audio output, a cable avoids pairing and avoids Bluetooth delay. Check the ports listed in your model’s specifications.
Add an external Bluetooth transmitter
Several Vizio models in the specifications above list a digital audio output (SPDIF), the optical connection. A Bluetooth transmitter with an optical input can take sound from that port and send it to your headphones. This is an inference from the port listing, not a compatibility guarantee from Vizio. Before buying, confirm that your TV has the output, that the transmitter accepts that input type, and that you’ve checked the TV’s audio output settings so sound is actually being sent to that port.

When pairing fails
- Headphones not listed: Make sure they are in pairing mode, not just powered on, and that they aren’t already connected to a phone or other device.
- No Bluetooth audio menu: Your model may not support headphone output. Re-check its specification page.
- No sound after pairing: Check that TV volume and audio output settings are directed to the headphones.
