For the XREAL AURA system, connect the glasses to the compute Puck with the included glasses cable using the port marked USB-C 1. Keep USB-C 2 separate: it is the Puck’s charging and DisplayPort-in port. If you want a laptop or handheld to provide video, that device must support DisplayPort Alt Mode over USB-C, or you will need a compatible adapter or hub. Use the Quick Start Guide supplied with AURA for the exact first-boot sequence; the public product information does not publish every account, Wi-Fi, permission, firmware, or cable-orientation step.
What “compute puck” means here
“Compute puck” is not a universal connector standard or a single accessory shared by every XR-glasses manufacturer. This guide applies specifically to XREAL AURA: a split-compute system in which the optical-see-through glasses provide the wearable view and a separate, tethered Android XR Puck supplies processing. XREAL describes the Puck as a device that is carried separately from the glasses, so cable routing and where you place the Puck are part of a workable setup, not afterthoughts.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
The product page describes the processing architecture this way: “The compute puck runs on the latest Snapdragon® Reality Elite platform while XREAL X1S Spatial Coprocessor supports low-latency spatial display and glasses-based XR experiences.” That is a vendor description, not an independent performance test. See the XREAL AURA product page for the model-specific port labels and published specifications.
Do not transfer the port names, cable assumptions, power requirements, or software procedure below to XREAL Beam Pro, the earlier XREAL Beam, or another company’s puck. Confirm the exact model and its manual before plugging in a different system.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What to check before connecting anything
- Confirm that the glasses and Puck are both the XREAL AURA components.
- Find the glasses cable and charging cable supplied in the box. The AURA product listing says both are included.
- Have the in-box Quick Start Guide available. It is the authoritative source for the physical cable orientation and first-boot prompts that are not detailed on the public product page.
- If you plan to feed video from a computer or handheld, check that its USB-C port explicitly supports DisplayPort Alt Mode. A USB-C-shaped socket alone does not guarantee video output.
- Decide how you will carry the Puck and route the tether so the cable does not pull on the glasses or snag when you move.
Know the two USB-C ports
AURA’s port labels answer the most important setup question: the glasses and an external video source use different Puck ports.
| Port | Published role | What to connect | Published electrical information |
|---|---|---|---|
| USB-C 1 | Glasses port | The AURA glasses, using the included glasses cable | 5 V / 2 A maximum |
| USB-C 2 | Charging / DP-in | Power input, or a compatible DisplayPort video source when that workflow is intended | 5–19 V, up to 3 A; 57 W maximum |
These labels come from XREAL’s current AURA product information, checked October 13, 2026. They describe the AURA Puck; they are not a generic USB-C wiring convention. Use the official product page when checking the markings on your unit.
The electrical figures are limits, not a recommendation to force a particular charger or source into the Puck. Use equipment that is appropriate for the intended role and compare its specifications with the AURA limits. Never assume that because a cable fits USB-C 2 it is automatically a charger, a video cable, or both.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesStep-by-step: connect AURA glasses to the Puck
1. Identify the exact hardware
Look for the AURA glasses and the matching AURA compute Puck before following any diagram. If the Puck or glasses have a different model name, stop and use that model’s documentation instead. The dedicated AURA port arrangement is the reason this guide starts with identification.
2. Locate USB-C 1
Find the socket marked USB-C 1, which XREAL labels for the AURA glasses. Do not use USB-C 2 for the normal glasses-to-Puck link simply because both connectors look alike.
3. Use the included glasses cable
Connect the supplied glasses cable between the glasses and USB-C 1. Push both ends fully home without forcing them. The public product page confirms the cable is included, but it does not specify a universal end-for-end orientation; follow the illustrations and wording in the Quick Start Guide for your package.
4. Follow the packaged first-boot instructions
With the glasses connected, use the supplied Quick Start Guide to start the Puck and complete the prompts shown on your unit. The available official product information does not establish a complete sequence for account creation, Wi-Fi, permissions, firmware updates, or the exact on-screen menu names. Do not substitute guessed steps for the guide. If a prompt asks for a setting that is not covered in your edition of the guide, use the support documentation for your region and hardware revision.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
That limitation matters because software can change after a product page is published. Record the wording of any prompt you do not recognize, then check the current regional support page rather than selecting a random option. Do not infer that a missing account or Wi-Fi prompt means setup failed; the exact flow can depend on the software version and package.
5. Choose an input method
XREAL lists hands, voice, and the Puck touchpad as native input routes. It also lists Bluetooth keyboards, mice, and game controllers as supported peripherals. Start with the method that matches the application: touchpad or voice for short navigation, hands for supported spatial interactions, and a paired keyboard, mouse, or controller when an app needs sustained text entry, pointer work, or game controls.

6. Set up the physical carry arrangement
The Puck is a separate device rather than a module mounted on the glasses. Put it in a pocket, bag, or another secure location that leaves enough slack for the glasses cable. Keep the cable away from hinges, wheels, doorways, and other snag points. A comfortable arrangement is one in which the Puck is supported independently instead of hanging from the glasses connector.
Before walking around, test the arrangement while seated: turn your head, stand up, and reach in the direction you expect to move. If the cable becomes taut, move the Puck or create more slack before using the glasses. The Puck’s separate-carried design is useful only when the tether remains stable and does not tug on the frame.

USB-C 2 can accept DisplayPort input, but only from a source that actually outputs DisplayPort Alt Mode. Check the laptop or handheld’s technical specification, port icon, or manual for explicit DP Alt Mode support before connecting. A port described only as USB-C, USB data, or charging is not enough evidence of video capability.
- Confirm that the source device supports DisplayPort Alt Mode over the USB-C port you intend to use.
- Keep the glasses connected to AURA’s USB-C 1.
- Connect the compatible source to AURA’s USB-C 2, the port labeled charging/DP-in.
- Power the Puck as directed by the AURA Quick Start Guide and select the source or display mode offered by the device, if required.
- If the source uses HDMI or a full-size DisplayPort connector rather than USB-C, consult XREAL’s connection guidance for an appropriate model-specific adapter or hub. The general tutorial explains that an adapter may be needed, but it is not an AURA-specific adapter prescription.
Do not assume that every USB-C cable carries video, either. For a DP-in setup, the source, the adapter path (if any), and the cable all need to support the required DisplayPort connection. When a source has several USB-C sockets, verify which one is wired for video rather than moving cables at random.
There are two distinct workflows here. In the normal AURA workflow, the Puck supplies Android XR processing and the glasses remain tethered to USB-C 1. In a DP-in workflow, another device supplies a video signal through USB-C 2. A laptop or handheld does not become compatible merely because it has a USB-C charging port, and plugging it into the glasses port does not turn USB-C 1 into a general-purpose video input.
Choosing controls for the task
| Input route | Best fit | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Hands | Supported spatial interactions where you want to keep both hands free | The application must support hand input |
| Voice | Short commands or navigation when speaking is practical | The relevant software must expose voice controls and recognize the selected language |
| Puck touchpad | Direct navigation without carrying another accessory | Keep the Puck accessible while the glasses remain tethered |
| Bluetooth keyboard | Long text entry, messaging, or productivity work | Pair it through the Puck’s available Bluetooth controls as shown in the current software |
| Bluetooth mouse | Pointer-heavy interfaces | Use an app and interface that expose pointer input |
| Bluetooth game controller | Games and controller-oriented applications | Confirm that the individual game recognizes the controller layout |
XREAL lists these categories as supported peripherals or native controls; it does not establish that every app accepts every input method. Choose one for the activity you are performing rather than pairing a full set of accessories by default.
A controller can be a better choice than the touchpad for a game, while a keyboard and mouse may be more practical for extended text or pointer work. Hands and voice are not replacements for every physical control: their usefulness depends on what the software exposes. Keeping the Puck within reach also makes its touchpad a dependable fallback when a Bluetooth accessory is unavailable.
AURA specifications that affect setup decisions
The following figures are manufacturer specifications on the current AURA product page, checked October 13, 2026. They are not independent measurements, and the 95-gram figure applies to the glasses only, not the complete glasses–Puck–cable system.
| Component or feature | Published figure | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Glasses weight | 95 g | Glasses-only weight; add the separately carried Puck and cable when planning your load |
| Field of view | 70° | Manufacturer-rated optical field of view |
| Display resolution | 1,920 × 1,200 pixels per eye | Per-eye figure, not a single combined panel resolution |
| Refresh rate | Up to 120 Hz | Maximum published rate; the active mode or application may use a lower rate |
| Puck battery | 4,455 mAh | Capacity only; no runtime estimate is established by the product information |
| USB-C 1 | 5 V / 2 A maximum | Glasses-port electrical limit |
| USB-C 2 | 5–19 V, up to 3 A; 57 W maximum | Charging-input limit and the port used for DP-in |
Do not turn the 4,455 mAh capacity into a promised number of hours. Runtime depends on workload, display mode, radios, peripherals, software, and other conditions that are not specified here. Likewise, “up to 120 Hz” is a ceiling, not a guarantee that every application or input source will operate at that rate.

The 70-degree field of view and per-eye resolution describe the glasses display, while the Puck’s 4,455 mAh figure describes battery capacity. None of these numbers tells you the weight of the complete carried system, the actual runtime, or the performance of a particular application.
Why there is no picture: a diagnostic order
When the glasses remain dark, work through the physical path before changing software settings. The checks below follow AURA’s published port roles and the general USB-C video requirement; they are not a claim that they replace an official service procedure.
Check the glasses port first
- Verify that the glasses cable runs to USB-C 1, the port labeled for glasses.
- Reseat both ends so each connector is fully inserted.
- Inspect the cable for obvious damage and use the cable supplied for the glasses link when possible.
Check the source path
- If you are using a laptop or handheld, confirm that its particular USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode.
- If you are using HDMI or another non-USB-C output, verify that the adapter or hub is the correct type for the intended model and signal path.
- Do not treat the presence of a USB-C connector as proof that video is available.
Check power and port assignment
USB-C 2 has two published roles: charging and DP-in. Make sure your intended source or charger is attached to that port and that the glasses remain on USB-C 1. Compare the charger’s requirements with the Puck’s published 5–19 V, up-to-3-A, 57-W maximum rather than guessing from the connector shape.
Use the official startup guidance
If the wiring is correct but the Puck does not proceed through startup, return to the AURA Quick Start Guide and the current regional support material. The public product page does not document every boot, account, permission, or update screen, so a different menu name is not evidence that the hardware is defective.
Change one variable at a time. For example, first confirm USB-C 1 and the glasses cable, then test the Puck’s power path, and only afterward investigate an external DP-in source. Swapping several cables, adapters, and ports simultaneously makes it difficult to tell whether the fault is the glasses link, the source device, or the adapter path.

XREAL’s AURA product information lists a glasses cable and a charging cable in the box. That means the glasses link should not be treated as an automatic extra purchase. Before ordering any replacement or adapter, compare the cable’s connector type and the source device’s output specification with the exact workflow you need. A source that outputs HDMI or full-size DisplayPort may require an adapter or hub; whether a particular accessory works is model- and signal-path-specific.
Bluetooth keyboards, mice, and game controllers are optional task-enabling devices, not prerequisites for basic glasses-to-Puck setup. Add one only when the application benefits from it and when its pairing and input behavior are supported by the software you intend to use.
Package contents and regional listings can change. The current product information identifies the two cables above, but it does not verify every retailer’s bundle, local stock, shipping terms, or accessory inclusion. Check the local official listing and the box contents before buying a replacement or planning a multi-device installation.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
- Exact model: identify the glasses and Puck, because AURA’s labels are product-specific.
- Port layout: confirm which socket is the glasses connection, which is charging, and which accepts external video.
- Video capability: verify DisplayPort Alt Mode on the source’s specific USB-C port.
- Cable and adapter needs: distinguish the included glasses and charging cables from any separate HDMI, DisplayPort, hub, or replacement-cable requirement.
- Control and carry plan: choose touchpad, hands, voice, or a Bluetooth peripheral, then decide where the separate Puck will ride.
This comparison prevents a common mistake: treating another XR product as interchangeable because it also uses USB-C. Similar-looking ports can have different roles, and a different model may require a different power or adapter path.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do not generalize this layout to another XR system
Older or different products may place charging, glasses output, and external video on different sockets, use a different cable, or require another power arrangement. Even within one manufacturer’s range, a similarly shaped Puck does not prove identical behavior. The general XREAL connection tutorial explains the broader USB-C and adapter considerations, but it does not convert another model into AURA.
For AURA-specific explanations of the split-compute design and the Puck’s role, see XREAL’s guide, What is XREAL AURA? Android XR glasses and the Puck explained. Use the model’s own guide whenever the labels, cables, or software differ.
A practical setup checklist
- Read the model name on both the glasses and Puck.
- Locate USB-C 1 and USB-C 2 on the AURA Puck.
- Connect the glasses with the included glasses cable to USB-C 1.
- Keep USB-C 2 for charging or a confirmed DP Alt Mode source.
- Use the packaged Quick Start Guide for first boot and every on-screen prompt.
- Confirm the source specification before attempting laptop or handheld video.
- Select hands, voice, touchpad, or an appropriate Bluetooth peripheral for the task.
- Secure the Puck and route the tether so it does not pull on the glasses.
- If the display is blank, recheck port assignment, cable seating, power, and DP Alt Mode support in that order.
Frequently asked questions
Which USB-C port do I plug the glasses into?
Use AURA’s USB-C 1, the port XREAL labels for the glasses. Connect it with the included glasses cable. USB-C 2 is the charging/DP-in port, not the normal glasses connection.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Can I connect my laptop or handheld to the Puck?
Yes, if the device’s particular USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode. Connect that source to USB-C 2 while the glasses remain on USB-C 1. A USB-C connector that provides only charging or data will not provide a video signal.
Can I use any USB-C cable?
No. The included glasses cable is the intended starting point for the glasses link. For DP-in, the source, cable, and any adapter or hub must support the required DisplayPort path. Physical fit alone does not establish compatibility.
What if my computer has HDMI instead of USB-C video?
XREAL’s general connection guidance indicates that HDMI or DisplayPort sources may require an appropriate model-specific adapter or hub. It does not identify one universal AURA adapter, so verify the signal path and accessory against the source and AURA documentation.
Does the Puck need to be attached to the glasses?
No. AURA uses a separate, tethered Puck. Carry it securely in a pocket or bag and leave enough cable slack so the glasses connector is not supporting the Puck’s weight.
What controls can I use?
XREAL lists hands, voice, and the Puck touchpad as native input routes, along with Bluetooth keyboards, mice, and game controllers. Individual applications may support only some of them, so select controls for the task.

How long will the 4,455 mAh battery last?
The published figure is a capacity, not a runtime promise. XREAL’s product information does not establish an independent battery-life result, and actual runtime varies with workload, display mode, radios, peripherals, and software.
Why is there no picture?
Start with the physical path: confirm the glasses cable is fully seated at USB-C 1, then verify power and, if applicable, DisplayPort Alt Mode support on the external source connected to USB-C 2. Reseat cables and check any adapter or hub. If the problem remains, follow the AURA Quick Start Guide and current regional support instructions rather than guessing at undocumented menus.
Is the 95 g specification the weight of the whole system?
No. XREAL lists 95 g for the glasses. The separately carried Puck and cable add to the load, so plan for the complete arrangement rather than the glasses figure alone.
