How do I connect my LED TV to Wi-Fi?
Have your Wi-Fi network name and password ready. On the TV, open its network or internet settings and choose the wireless setup option. Select your network, enter the password carefully, and confirm the connection. Follow the labels shown on your TV: there is no single menu sequence that applies to every brand and model.

Samsung TV example
On Samsung TVs, one US support guide gives this path: Settings > General > Network > Open Network Settings. Choose the Wi-Fi network, enter its password, then select Done and OK. Menu paths can differ on newer model years, so use the labels on your TV or consult the manual for its exact model. Samsung’s network connection instructions also describe wired setup and network-status checks.

Roku streaming device example
If you use a Roku device connected to the TV, choose Wireless during setup, select your network, enter the case-sensitive password, and connect. To change a saved connection later, go to Settings > Network > Set up connection. Roku’s internet connection guide covers the setup flow.

LG and Sony TVs
LG and Sony use their own network menus. LG’s directions distinguish TVs from 2018 or earlier running webOS 4.0 or earlier, while Sony notes that the required network settings depend on the router or internet provider. If the labels in a guide do not match your screen, use the instructions for your model and software version rather than trying another brand’s path. LG support and Sony support provide model-specific help.
Why won’t my TV find my Wi-Fi network?
First check the TV’s exact model and the Wi-Fi bands it supports. A router can broadcast on 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, or both; a TV that does not support a band cannot see a network available only on that band. Samsung identifies certain 2018 NU7100/NU710D, NU7200, and NU7300/NU730D models as 2.4 GHz-only. That limitation applies to those named models, not all Samsung TVs. Sony also says 5 GHz support varies by model and region. Check the TV’s manual before changing router settings. Samsung’s support page and Sony’s support site are starting points.

- If your TV supports 2.4 GHz, confirm that your router is broadcasting a compatible 2.4 GHz network, then scan again from the TV.
- If the network is hidden, look for an option to add a network manually. Whether that option exists depends on the TV model.
- If the network still does not appear, check the TV and router manuals or ask the router administrator or manufacturer for help.
Avoid changing security modes, channels, or other advanced router settings without model-specific instructions.
Why does my TV say it’s connected to Wi-Fi but has no internet?
A Wi-Fi connection to the router does not by itself confirm that the router has working internet access. Use this sequence to narrow down the problem:

- Test another device on the same network. If a phone or computer also cannot reach the internet, investigate the router or home internet service instead of changing the TV’s network settings.
- Check the password and reconnect. If the TV is not actually connected, carefully re-enter the password. Roku’s setup flow treats capitalization as significant.
- Restart the TV and router. Turn both off and restart them, then try connecting again. Roku includes full restarts among its connection troubleshooting steps. Roku’s connection-check guidance describes common causes and fixes.
- Check signal and congestion. Distance, obstacles, interference, and heavy use by other Wi-Fi devices can affect the connection. Where practical, move the router or TV to improve the signal and reduce competing network use. Roku’s troubleshooting guidance discusses these factors.
- Try another supported band. If both the router and TV support more than one Wi-Fi band, test the other one. Which bands are available depends on the equipment; 5 GHz is not automatically the better choice for every TV or location.
- Read the TV’s network status or diagnostic screen. Use the connection details and error information displayed there. Menu names differ by brand and firmware; Samsung, for example, describes network-status and IP information as diagnostic routes. See Samsung’s network guidance.
Consider a factory reset only after the other checks fail and after reviewing your model’s official instructions. It can remove settings and mean configuring apps again; Roku presents it as an extreme, last-resort step. Roku’s troubleshooting page discusses that option.
Can I connect my TV to the internet with an Ethernet cable?
Yes, if the TV or attached streaming device has an Ethernet (LAN) port and you can run a cable to the router or modem. Ethernet avoids relying on the Wi-Fi signal at the TV’s location. Check the device’s ports and measure the route before choosing a cable length; not every TV or streaming device has an Ethernet port.

For some Samsung setups, the cable connects to the TV’s LAN port or, where applicable, the One Connect Box’s LAN port, with the other end connected to the router or modem. Roku also supports wired setup on compatible devices. Follow the device’s own network setup instructions after plugging in the cable. Samsung’s instructions and Roku’s guide describe their respective options.

Should I replace my router or buy a mesh system?
Not as the first step. Confirm the TV’s band support, test whether the router has internet access, and check signal strength, interference, congestion, and the TV’s connection diagnostics. Roku notes that a newer router or mesh system may help with persistent problems, but that is a conditional option—not a normal requirement for connecting a TV. Roku’s connection guidance discusses router-related troubleshooting.
