1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTurn on your phone’s hotspot, then connect the VIZIO TV to it through the TV’s regular Wi-Fi or network menu. You’ll need the hotspot’s network name (SSID) and password. Menu labels vary by model, so follow the wording on your screen if it differs from the examples below.
What you need before connecting
- A phone with its personal or mobile hotspot enabled. Keep the hotspot on while the TV searches for and joins the network.
- The hotspot’s network name (SSID) and password. VIZIO’s Wi-Fi setup guidance calls for these credentials. VIZIO D-Series quick-start guide
Connect the TV to your phone’s hotspot
- On your phone, enable the personal or mobile hotspot and note its network name and password.
- On the TV, open the network or Wi-Fi setup. On the V705-H13, VIZIO documents the path Menu > Network. A 2022 V-Series manual describes selecting a Wi-Fi network during setup and entering its password. VIZIO V705-H13 user manual VIZIO 2022 V-Series user manual
- Select your phone’s hotspot from the network list, enter its password carefully, and choose Connect or the equivalent on-screen option. The V705-H13 manual documents this process for a wireless network.
- Wait for the TV to finish connecting. If it succeeds, use the TV’s streaming apps as you normally would, subject to your phone plan’s hotspot terms and available cellular service.
If the hotspot does not appear
- Make sure the phone’s hotspot is still enabled, then have the TV scan again.
- If your TV offers an additional-network list, open it. One VIZIO manual calls this option More Access Points when the desired network is missing; the exact label may differ by model. VIZIO V705-H13 user manual
- Check the TV’s model number and consult its manual for the network options available on that set. VIZIO’s model pages show that wireless capabilities differ: the D55x-G1 lists 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi, while the M43Q6M-K04 lists Wi-Fi 6E. Those examples do not establish what an unspecified TV supports or guarantee compatibility with a particular phone hotspot. VIZIO D55x-G1 specifications VIZIO M43Q6M-K04 specifications
If the TV finds the hotspot but will not connect
- Confirm the phone hotspot remains on while the TV attempts to join.
- Re-enter the password, checking capitalization and characters against the phone’s hotspot settings.
- If the connection still fails, check the instructions for the exact TV model and your phone or carrier’s hotspot settings. VIZIO’s cited setup documents explain ordinary Wi-Fi connection steps but do not establish a universal phone-hotspot fix or specific phone, carrier, band, security, or DNS settings that work for every model.
Streaming also uses mobile data. Check your carrier’s hotspot allowance and the streaming service’s current connection requirements before relying on the hotspot for regular viewing. An older VIZIO quick-start guide gives a 1.5 Mbps figure for its own era and model; it should not be treated as a current universal streaming recommendation. VIZIO M55C2 quick-start guide

Pair the VIZIO Mobile app separately
Connecting the TV to the hotspot does not pair the phone app automatically. For app control, VIZIO says to put the phone and TV on the same Wi-Fi network, select the TV in the app’s device selector, and enter the four-digit code displayed on the TV. VIZIO Mobile app pairing instructions
