On the PS5, open Settings > Network > Settings > Set Up Internet Connection, pick the hotel’s network and connect. That works when the network only needs a password. Many hotels also add a login or terms page, and that is where consoles get stuck. This guide covers the console steps, what to do when the hotel’s sign-in page won’t complete, and when a travel router or Ethernet cable is worth trying.
Connect to the hotel network on the PS5
- Go to Settings > Network > Settings > Set Up Internet Connection. Sony says new and saved Wi-Fi networks are listed on this screen (PlayStation Support).
- Select the hotel’s guest network and choose Connect. Enter the password if the network is protected.
- If prompted, run Test Internet Connection and follow any sign-in or authorization prompt that appears.
Hotel sign-in behaviour varies by property. Sony’s general setup page does not promise a universal captive-portal flow on PS5, so a successful test is the thing to look for, not just a selected network.

If the hotel login page won’t complete
Joining the Wi-Fi name is not the same as being authorized. A hotel portal may want you to accept terms, enter a room number and surname, or use a code. Laptops and phones show this page in a browser; a PS5 does not behave like a general-purpose browser device, so the portal may never display properly (ExpressVPN). The symptom is a console that connects to the SSID but reports no internet access.

- Can they register the PS5 or provide a device-specific login method?
- Do they permit gaming consoles and personal routers on the network?
Don’t assume the hotel will accept a MAC address or allow any workaround. The property is the authority, and its current instructions override generic advice.

Using a travel router
A compact travel router joins the hotel network, completes the sign-in on a phone or laptop, then offers its own private Wi-Fi or a wired port to the PS5 (RottenWifi). Connect the PS5 to the router’s network using the same Set Up Internet Connection path. This is optional and conditional: confirm the hotel allows it, and note that it is not a guaranteed bypass of hotel authentication.

Using the room’s Ethernet port
If staff confirm a live jack, plug in an Ethernet cable and choose Settings > Network > Settings > Set Up Internet Connection > Set Up Wired LAN > Connect. Sony documents this wired setup. Check the port is active and authorized first.

Troubleshooting
- Check the basics: Sony advises confirming the SSID, password and security method are correct (PlayStation Support).
- Check PlayStation service status for outages or maintenance before blaming the hotel.
- IPv6: the PS5 supports IPv6 connections but not IPv6-only networks.
- PS5 Pro (CFI-7000 model group): Sony suggests trying the connection with and without Multi-Link Operation if problems occur.
- Advanced settings (IP address, DHCP host name, DNS, MTU, proxy): leave them alone unless hotel IT tells you what to enter. Sony says to ask the network administrator or ISP if you’re unfamiliar with them.
