You can select an available xfinitywifi network from the PS5’s internet settings, but joining Wi-Fi and completing Xfinity’s browser-based sign-in are separate steps. Comcast’s public-hotspot directions do not explain how to complete that sign-in on a PS5, and Sony’s setup guide does not document Xfinity portal support. So the connection may work only if the console can reach and complete the required authorization flow.
How do I connect my PS5 to an Xfinity hotspot?

Check that a public Xfinity hotspot is available nearby using Comcast’s hotspot guidance. Seeing a network name does not by itself confirm that the access point offers public sign-in.

On the PS5, open Settings > Network > Settings > Set Up Internet Connection, then choose xfinitywifi if it appears. Follow any prompts shown on the console. Sony’s PlayStation internet setup instructions note that a lock icon indicates a password-protected network.

If prompted, complete the network’s authorization step. Comcast’s public hotspot directions describe selecting xfinitywifi and launching a browser; Xfinity customers sign in with their credentials, and access for non-customers is offered where available. Those directions do not say how to open or complete the portal on a PS5.

Once authorization succeeds, test the console’s internet connection in the network settings before launching a game or service.
Can I use xfinitywifi on PS5?
The PS5 can select a Wi-Fi network through its standard setup menu. That does not establish that it can complete Xfinity’s captive-portal sign-in. The official instructions reviewed describe the Wi-Fi selection and browser-based public hotspot flow, but neither explains a PS5-specific portal process. If the console displays an on-screen sign-in prompt, you can try following it; there is no documented guarantee that the portal will appear or work.

Signing in to the hotspot on a phone does not, according to the cited instructions, authorize the PS5 automatically. Treat the phone and console as separate devices unless Xfinity provides a supported way to authorize both.

These are different access situations. Comcast says the public “Accept and Connect” option is not available on an Xfinity customer’s in-home hotspot.

Public hotspot: It may offer a public acceptance or sign-in flow, subject to availability. Xfinity customers use their credentials; non-customer access is offered where available.

Private in-home hotspot: Do not expect the public “Accept and Connect” flow. If the network asks for a password or offers no public access option, use a public business or outdoor hotspot, or ask the network owner for access.

Why won’t my PS5 connect to Xfinity Wi-Fi?
The network joins, but the PS5 has no internet access
This can indicate that Wi-Fi association succeeded but the hotspot has not authorized the console. Comcast’s instructions require a browser-based sign-in, while Sony’s cited setup guide does not explain how to handle that Xfinity portal on PS5. A phone’s successful sign-in is not a confirmed workaround for the console.

The network is locked or asks for a password
Confirm that you selected a public hotspot rather than a private in-home network. Sony says a lock icon means the network is password-protected. If you do not have the password or see no public access option, choose another public hotspot or ask its owner for access.

The PS5 reports a network or connection error
Check that the selected SSID is correct and re-enter any password carefully. Sony advises verifying the network name, password, and security method. Those checks can help with ordinary Wi-Fi connection problems, but they cannot resolve a hotspot authorization page that the console cannot reach.
Could IPv6 be the issue?
Sony Interactive Entertainment states: “PS5® consoles support IPv6 network connections but do not support IPv6-only network connections.” This is useful compatibility context, but a user generally cannot change the configuration of a public Xfinity hotspot.
Is an extra adapter or router required?
The PS5’s network settings already let you select Wi-Fi. The cited guidance does not establish that a separate adapter, travel router, or other accessory solves Xfinity’s browser-based authorization step. The unresolved issue is whether the console can complete the hotspot sign-in, not whether it can select a Wi-Fi network.
