Yes. Connect the PS5 Pro and gaming PC to separate HDMI inputs on the TV, then connect the TV’s HDMI ARC or eARC port to the matching port on your soundbar or AV receiver. Select the PS5 or PC input on the TV when you want to play; the TV sends audio from that selected source to the sound system. This direct-to-TV layout is the safest starting point because every source can use the TV’s own video processing, while the TV handles audio return.
Whether you actually get 4K, 120 Hz, HDR or variable refresh rate (VRR) depends on the complete signal path: the source output, cable, selected TV input, and any receiver or other device between them. Port labels and supported formats vary by TV model and region, so verify the specifications for your exact equipment before assuming a particular mode will work.

What you need before connecting anything
Gather the following:
- A PS5 Pro and its HDMI cable, or an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable if you need a replacement or an additional long run.
- A gaming PC with an HDMI output on the graphics card or motherboard that supports the display mode you intend to use.
- A TV with two usable HDMI inputs. Identify which inputs support the resolution, refresh rate, HDR and VRR features you want; the input number and capabilities differ by model.
- A soundbar or AV receiver with an HDMI ARC or eARC port. The TV and sound system must have matching ARC/eARC connections for audio return over HDMI.
- Power cables for all devices and, if applicable, the remote controls needed to change the TV and sound-system input.
Do not judge capability by the connector’s physical shape. Two HDMI sockets can look identical while supporting different bandwidth or features. The same warning applies to an AV receiver: its documented passthrough capability, not the presence of an HDMI socket, determines what reaches the TV.
The recommended wiring layout
Use this signal path:
- PS5 Pro HDMI output → TV HDMI input 1.
- Gaming PC HDMI output → TV HDMI input 2.
- TV HDMI ARC/eARC port → soundbar or receiver HDMI ARC/eARC port.
When the TV is set to the PS5 input, it displays the console and returns that source’s audio to the sound system. When you switch to the PC input, the same TV-to-sound-system link carries the computer’s audio. You do not need a separate HDMI cable from each source to the soundbar when the TV supports ARC or eARC.

Why separate TV inputs are usually best
Direct connections avoid making the receiver a video bottleneck. The TV receives each source directly, so the only intermediate link for video is the source cable and the selected TV input. This is particularly useful when one source needs a high refresh rate or VRR and the receiver’s passthrough specifications have not been verified.
The trade-off is the number of suitable TV inputs. If your TV has only one input that supports the mode you want, both devices cannot use that capability simultaneously through this layout. You will need to move a cable, use another verified input, or consider a receiver that explicitly supports the required formats.
Connect the PS5 Pro and PC step by step
1. Identify the TV’s capable HDMI inputs
Read the labels beside every HDMI socket and consult the TV’s manual or on-screen help. Sony notes that the type and position of HDMI ports differ between TV models, and that available formats can also vary by model and region. Look specifically for documentation covering your target resolution, refresh rate, HDR and VRR.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Do not assume that an input labelled ARC or eARC is the best gaming input. ARC/eARC describes audio return to the sound system; a different TV input may be the one documented for the highest video refresh rate. Use the port that satisfies both your video requirement and your cabling plan.
2. Connect the PS5 Pro directly to the TV
- Turn off the console and TV if you are changing an existing installation.
- Plug the PS5 Pro’s HDMI cable into the console’s HDMI OUT port.
- Plug the other end into the TV input you confirmed for the desired gaming format.
- Record the input label or number; you will use it when switching sources and troubleshooting.
Sony recommends the cable included with a console that supports 4K at 120 Hz, or an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable. A Premium High Speed HDMI cable is suitable for general purposes, but a cable rating alone cannot guarantee a mode if the source, TV input or any intermediary lacks support.

3. Connect the gaming PC directly to another TV input
- Connect the HDMI output from the PC’s graphics card to a second TV HDMI input that is documented for the PC’s intended mode.
- If the computer has several video outputs, use the output connected to the graphics processor that actually drives your games. A motherboard socket may be inactive when a discrete graphics card is installed.
- Keep the cable path direct for the first test. Add an adapter, switch or receiver only after the basic connection works.
- Note the TV input number so you can select it quickly later.
The cited TV guidance does not prescribe a particular Windows or graphics-driver menu, because those controls vary by operating system and GPU. In general, the computer must be set to use the TV as its display, and the chosen resolution and refresh rate must be supported by the PC output, cable and TV input together.
4. Link the TV to the sound system with ARC or eARC
- Find the HDMI port on the TV labelled ARC or eARC.
- Find the matching HDMI ARC or eARC port on the soundbar or receiver.
- Connect those two ports with an HDMI cable.
- Set the sound system to its TV, ARC or eARC input if it does not switch automatically.
- In the TV’s audio settings, select the HDMI ARC/eARC output option where your model provides one.
The TV now acts as the audio hub for whichever HDMI source is selected. Exact audio formats and control behavior depend on the two connected devices, so check both manuals if a format or volume-control feature is important to you.
Configure the TV’s HDMI signal format
Many TVs expose a per-input setting that changes the accepted HDMI bandwidth or format. On supported Sony TVs, the help guidance instructs users to choose an enhanced format for 4K/120 Hz and a VRR format for a VRR-capable console. The exact menu wording and location vary by model.
- Open the TV’s Settings menu.
- Go to the external-input or HDMI-signal-format section. The label is model-specific.
- Select the input where the PS5 Pro is connected.
- Choose the enhanced or 4K/120-compatible format when you need 4K at 120 Hz.
- Choose the VRR format when the input and console are both documented as VRR-capable and you want VRR enabled.
- Repeat the appropriate configuration for the PC input, if that input offers a separate format selection.
Changing an input to an enhanced mode can affect compatibility with older devices or cables. If the screen goes blank, switch the TV back to its previous format, reconnect the source directly, and test a lower mode before trying the enhanced setting again.
Set up video output on the PS5 Pro
On the console, open Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output. This page lets you inspect what the connected HDMI device reports and adjust resolution, VRR and 120 Hz output.

Check what the TV reports
Review the information shown for resolution, HDR, VRR and 120 Hz. The console detects the TV’s capabilities and automatically selects the best available resolution. Automatic selection is useful for a first test, but it does not prove that every game will use every feature; game support and the selected display mode still matter.
Choose a stable baseline first
- Leave resolution on the automatically selected option or choose a mode you know the TV input supports.
- Test the home screen and a game before changing several options at once.
- Enable VRR only after the TV input is configured for VRR and the display reports that capability.
- Enable 120 Hz output when the TV input, cable path and game support it.
- If you lose the picture, reconnect the console to a known-compatible input or use the console’s recovery procedure to return to a basic output mode.
Make one change at a time. That makes it possible to identify whether a blank screen or intermittent signal came from the TV input format, cable, console setting or game.
Set up the gaming PC for the TV
After connecting the PC, select the TV as a display in the operating system. Then open the graphics settings supplied by your GPU and choose a resolution, refresh rate, HDR state and VRR option that the complete connection supports.
Windows display selection
- Open the operating system’s display settings.
- Use the display-identification or detect function if the TV does not appear.
- Select the TV and choose the desired resolution and refresh rate from the modes it reports.
- Set the TV as the main display only if you want games and windows to open there by default; otherwise use duplicate or extended desktop according to your setup.
- Apply the change and confirm that text, the desktop and a game remain stable.
GPU control-panel checks
GPU software may expose additional color, HDR and VRR controls. Use only modes that the TV input and cable path report as available. If a mode is missing, test the other TV input, a shorter or certified cable, and a direct connection before assuming the graphics card is at fault.
Direct-to-TV versus routing both sources through a receiver
There are two valid layouts. Direct-to-TV is the recommended starting point; routing sources through a receiver can reduce input switching but adds another device whose video specifications must be verified.

| Consideration | Sources connected directly to TV | Sources connected through AV receiver |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution and refresh-rate passthrough | The source and selected TV input determine the video path. | The receiver must explicitly support and pass through the chosen resolution and refresh rate. |
| VRR and HDR | Check the source, cable and TV input; no receiver is added to the video chain. | Check source, receiver passthrough, cable and TV input. Receiver support is model-specific. |
| Audio | TV sends the selected source’s audio to the sound system over ARC/eARC. | The receiver handles source audio directly, or the TV can still return audio over ARC/eARC if wired that way; supported formats depend on the exact equipment. |
| TV input capacity | Requires one suitable TV input per source. | Uses receiver inputs, leaving potentially suitable TV inputs free, but only if the receiver supports the required video modes. |
| Changing sources | Switch the TV input; the sound system follows the TV audio return. | Switch the receiver input and, depending on the setup, the TV input or receiver output as well. |
Do not infer capability from a receiver’s connector shape or from another model’s manual. For example, documentation for one receiver may describe an 18 Gbps design without establishing 4K/120 Hz passthrough. Verify the exact receiver model’s supported formats before placing it between a high-refresh source and TV.

The TV says no signal
- Confirm that the TV is on the HDMI input where the active source is connected.
- Reseat both ends of the HDMI cable and check that the cable is connected to the PC’s active graphics output, not an unused motherboard output.
- Try the source on the TV input documented for the required format.
- Temporarily select a lower resolution or refresh rate on the source.
- Disable the TV’s enhanced or VRR format temporarily, then re-enable it after a basic picture is stable.
- Remove receivers, switches and adapters so the source connects directly to the TV.
4K or 120 Hz is unavailable
Check every link rather than changing only the console or PC setting. The selected TV input may not support the mode, the cable may not be suitable, or a receiver in the path may not pass it through. Use the console’s Video Output screen and the PC’s reported display modes as evidence of what the connected chain currently negotiates.
VRR does not engage
Verify that the TV input is configured for its VRR signal format, the source has VRR enabled, and the game supports VRR. Test the console directly on the TV first. For a PC, confirm that the TV is detected as the active gaming display and that the GPU settings offer a compatible variable-refresh option.
There is a picture but no sound
- Make sure the TV is still set to the HDMI input carrying the active source.
- Confirm that the TV-to-soundbar or receiver cable uses the TV’s ARC/eARC port and the sound system’s matching port.
- Select the sound system’s TV, ARC or eARC input.
- Check the TV audio-output setting and raise the sound system’s volume.
- Test the PS5 and PC separately. If one works and the other does not, inspect that source’s operating-system or console audio output rather than replacing the TV link immediately.
Audio format support is equipment-specific. If a particular format fails, choose a compatible output mode documented by both the TV and sound system.

Cable choices that make troubleshooting easier
Use the console’s included HDMI cable when available for a 4K/120-capable console. For a replacement or the PC connection, an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable is a reasonable choice when the endpoints are documented for the requested mode. A Premium High Speed HDMI cable is suitable for general use, but the cable label cannot overcome a TV input, receiver or source that lacks the feature.
Keep the first installation simple: short, direct runs are easier to diagnose than a chain containing couplers, wall plates, switches and receivers. Once the basic picture and sound work, add those components one at a time and retest the exact resolution, refresh rate, HDR and VRR modes you care about.
Practical switching routine
- Turn on the TV and sound system.
- Turn on the PS5 Pro or wake the PC.
- Press the TV remote’s Input or Source button.
- Select the labeled PS5 or PC HDMI input.
- Confirm that the sound system remains on its TV/ARC/eARC input.
- If the source does not appear, follow the no-signal checks before changing several settings.
Labeling the two HDMI cables and the TV inputs prevents accidental swaps. If other household members use the system, write the source name beside each input in the TV’s input-label menu when available.

Can I connect my PC and PS5 to one TV?
Yes. Use separate HDMI inputs on the TV and select the source you want to display. The TV cannot show both full-screen sources at the same time through this basic arrangement, but switching between them does not require rewiring.
How do I get sound from both my PC and PS5 through one soundbar?
Connect the soundbar’s HDMI ARC/eARC port to the TV’s matching port. Audio from whichever HDMI input is selected on the TV is then sent over that link, subject to the formats supported by the TV and soundbar.
Should I plug the PS5 Pro and PC into the receiver instead?
Only when the receiver’s manual confirms passthrough for every video feature you need. If that information is unavailable, connect both sources directly to the TV and use ARC/eARC for audio.
Why does one TV HDMI port work while another does not?
TV inputs can have different capabilities and positions. Consult the exact model’s labels and manual, then enable the appropriate enhanced or VRR signal format for the port you use.
