Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo make your Samsung 6 Series TV discoverable, turn it on and connect the TV and phone to the same Wi-Fi network. Then try Galaxy Smart View, SmartThings, or—on a supported model—AirPlay. “6 Series” covers different models and years, so exact menus and wireless features depend on the TV’s full model code, region, and software.
Check which 6 Series TV you have
Before troubleshooting a missing TV, find its full model code on the product label or in the TV’s settings. The series name alone does not establish whether a particular set supports SmartThings pairing, AirPlay, or a specific mirroring menu. Samsung also notes that menu labels can differ by model and software version.

Use the model code to check the TV’s manual and supported-device information. If you share it when asking for help, include your phone model and whether you want to mirror the whole screen or send content from one app.

Make a Galaxy phone find the TV with Smart View
- Turn on the TV and Galaxy phone. Connect both to the same Wi-Fi network.
- On the phone, swipe down to open Quick Settings and tap Smart View. It is built into Quick Settings; you do not need a separate Smart View app.
- Tap the TV in the available-device list. Tap Start now, then approve the request on the TV or enter its PIN if prompted.
- If the TV is not listed, refresh the device list. Check the TV’s power and Wi-Fi connection, then restart the phone and TV. Accept Allow on the television if a permission prompt appears.
Samsung says some TVs may require you to select a suitable input or enable screen mirroring. The exact setting varies, so use the manual for your model rather than assuming a menu path. See Samsung’s screen-mirroring instructions.

Add the TV in SmartThings
- Turn on the TV and connect it and your phone to the same Wi-Fi network. Samsung’s UK pairing guidance also recommends using the same Samsung Account on both.
- Open SmartThings and choose Add or Add device. Select the TV option or scan for nearby devices.
- Choose the TV when it appears, then enter the PIN shown on the television and complete setup.
Samsung says most of its TVs made from 2016 onward can be detected and connected through SmartThings, but that does not guarantee compatibility for every 6 Series model. Check the supported-device information for your exact set. Some Bluetooth-equipped Samsung TVs made after 2017 can use Bluetooth Low Energy during setup without being on the same network; treat that as a model-dependent exception, not the normal setup requirement.
If SmartThings cannot find the TV, confirm it is on, restart the television and the app, and try again. If it remains missing, restart the router. Samsung also recommends updating the phone, SmartThings app, and TV firmware. See its SmartThings pairing troubleshooting and screen-mirroring guide.

Connect an iPhone or iPad with AirPlay
Samsung UK says AirPlay is available on Samsung TVs manufactured after 2019. Both the Apple device and TV must be on the same Wi-Fi network, and the specific model must support AirPlay. A 6 Series label by itself is not enough to confirm compatibility.
Recommended Free Tools
For supported TVs, Samsung’s UK guide gives this settings route: Home > Menu > Settings > All settings > Connection > Apple AirPlay settings. Labels may vary. Verify AirPlay support for the TV’s exact model and region before expecting it to appear in the iPhone’s AirPlay list.

Choose the connection that matches what you want to do
| Method | Best for | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Smart View | Mirroring a Galaxy phone’s screen | TV and phone on the same Wi-Fi; TV accepts the request or PIN. |
| SmartThings | Adding and controlling a supported Samsung TV, with options to launch mirroring | Exact TV support; same Wi-Fi and, for Samsung’s UK pairing guidance, the same Samsung Account. |
| AirPlay | Sharing from an Apple device to a compatible Samsung TV | AirPlay support on the exact TV model and same Wi-Fi; Samsung UK describes support on TVs manufactured after 2019. |
| Cast from an app | Sending supported app content without duplicating the whole phone screen | The app and TV must support the casting method. The phone may act as a controller rather than mirror its entire display. |
| HDMI adapter | A wired fallback when wireless discovery is unavailable | The phone must support video output, and the TV needs a suitable HDMI input. Adapters are sold separately. |
Fix common discovery and connection problems
The TV does not appear in any device list
- Make sure the TV is powered on and connected to Wi-Fi, and that the phone is on the same network.
- Check that the TV is a smart model supported by the method you are trying and that the phone supports it too.
- Refresh the list, restart the phone and TV, and check for software updates.
SmartThings will not add the TV
- Check the Wi-Fi and Samsung Account pairing requirements and confirm that your model is supported.
- Update SmartThings and the TV firmware. Power-cycle the TV and restart the app; if that does not help, restart the router.
The TV appears, but connection is refused
- Approve the on-screen connection request or enter the PIN displayed by the TV.
- Restart the phone and TV and check for updates. If a VPN error appears, disconnect the VPN and try again.
The phone connects, but mirroring does not start
Check the TV’s model-specific instructions for a required input selection or mirroring setting. Samsung’s support guide explains the general steps, but the control is not the same on every set.
Wireless discovery still fails
A compatible HDMI adapter and cable can provide a wired connection. Confirm that the phone supports video output and connect the cable to an available TV HDMI input, then select that input on the TV. Do not assume that every USB-C phone can output video.
