To connect a Bluetooth speaker or headphones to a Lenovo tablet, turn on Bluetooth, put the accessory into pairing mode, select its name on the tablet, and tap Pair if Android asks for confirmation. Lenovo’s menu labels vary by Android version, and the accessory’s own manual determines how pairing mode is activated.
How to pair a Bluetooth device to my tablet?
The first connection has two parts: the tablet must be discoverable through its Bluetooth settings, and the speaker or headphones must actively advertise themselves in pairing mode. Simply switching on an accessory is not always enough; many models use a dedicated Bluetooth button or require a long press. Lenovo advises consulting the accessory guide for the exact control and hold time.

1. Open Bluetooth settings on the Lenovo tablet
On many Lenovo Android tablets, the route is Settings → Connected devices → Connection preferences → Bluetooth. Lenovo notes that the location and wording can differ between Android versions. If those labels are not present, open Quick Settings by swiping down from the top of the screen, press and hold the Bluetooth control, and choose Pair new device when that option appears.
Keeping the Bluetooth page open is useful because it shows the tablet’s current discovery list. If the list is empty, that does not necessarily mean Bluetooth is broken; the accessory may simply not yet be advertising in pairing mode.

2. Turn Bluetooth on
Enable the Bluetooth switch. The tablet then searches for nearby devices. Keep the Bluetooth settings page open while you prepare the accessory so you can see newly discovered names. If Bluetooth was already on, briefly check that the switch is still enabled before troubleshooting the accessory.
3. Put the speaker or headphones in pairing mode
Power on the accessory, then activate its pairing mode using the procedure in its user guide. Lenovo’s instruction is explicit: the Bluetooth device must be powered on and in pairing mode. The button, indicator, sound, and amount of time you hold the button are model-specific, so do not assume that the power button also starts pairing.
Pairing mode is different from merely being switched on. A speaker may turn on and immediately reconnect to a phone it remembers, while headphones may need a separate Bluetooth-button press. If the manual describes a flashing light, tone, or voice prompt, wait for that signal before looking for the accessory on the tablet.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →4. Select the accessory and confirm
Under the tablet’s available devices, tap the speaker or headphones name. If Android displays a confirmation request, tap Pair. Wait for the device to move from the available list to the paired or saved devices list before leaving Settings.
Accessory names can be similar to other nearby devices. Match the name and model shown in the accessory documentation or on its label. If Android presents more than one entry for the same product, use the entry that appears when the accessory is actively in pairing mode rather than guessing at a different nearby device.
5. Reconnect after the first pairing
For later listening, turn on Bluetooth and power on the accessory. A device that was paired previously may reconnect automatically. If it does not, open the Bluetooth settings, find the accessory under saved or paired devices, and select its name to reconnect. You normally do not need to repeat the initial pairing sequence unless the accessory has been reset or removed from the tablet.
Automatic reconnection is affected by what the accessory is doing at the time. If it is already connected to another phone, tablet, or computer, disconnect it there first. Then switch it back into pairing mode or select its saved name on the Lenovo tablet as appropriate.
What you need before pairing
- The speaker or headphones must support Bluetooth.
- The accessory must be switched on and placed in its active pairing mode.
- Bluetooth must be enabled on the Lenovo tablet.
- For reliable discovery, Lenovo recommends keeping the two devices within 1 meter while pairing.
- Keep walls and large metal objects out of the path between the tablet and accessory during setup.
- If the accessory is connected to another phone, tablet, or computer, disconnect it there before trying to pair it with the Lenovo tablet.
These checks matter because an accessory that is already maintaining a connection elsewhere may not advertise itself for a new tablet. The 1-meter guidance is a Lenovo troubleshooting recommendation, not a guaranteed maximum operating range for every Bluetooth product. It is a practical setup distance intended to reduce discovery problems while you establish the first connection.
Compatibility also has two parts. The accessory must use Bluetooth, and the particular Lenovo tablet and Android build must support the relevant Bluetooth operation. Do not assume that every optional feature works across every Lenovo tablet generation. Check the exact tablet specifications and the accessory’s manual when a model-specific requirement is unclear.

Using Quick Settings instead of the full Settings app
Android can expose Bluetooth controls in Quick Settings. Swipe down from the top of the Lenovo tablet, press and hold the Bluetooth tile, and use Pair new device. This opens the same discovery process without navigating through every Settings category. The exact tile position and appearance depend on the Android version and the tablet’s software configuration; if the tile does not provide a pairing option, use the full Settings route.
A short tap on the tile may only toggle Bluetooth. Pressing and holding it is the action that usually opens the detailed Bluetooth controls. If your tablet’s Quick Settings panel does not show the tile, edit the panel or use the Settings app’s search field for “Bluetooth.” The wording may differ, but the goal is still to reach the available-device list.

Fast Pair: a quicker option when supported
Some Bluetooth accessories support Google Fast Pair. When the requirements are met, placing the accessory in pairing mode can produce a notification on the Lenovo tablet. Follow that notification to complete setup instead of selecting the device manually.
Fast Pair is conditional, not a requirement for ordinary Bluetooth pairing. Google specifies all of the following:
- The tablet runs Android 6.0 or later.
- Bluetooth is enabled.
- Location is enabled.
- The accessory is compatible with Fast Pair.
If no Fast Pair notification appears, use Settings → Connected devices → Connection preferences → Bluetooth (or the equivalent route on that Android version) and pair the device from the available-device list. A missing notification does not by itself mean that the speaker or headphones cannot be used; it may simply lack Fast Pair support or have one of the required settings disabled.
Fast Pair also does not replace the accessory’s pairing procedure. Put the speaker or headphones into the mode specified by its manual first. The notification is an optional shortcut that appears only when the tablet, software settings, and accessory all meet Google’s conditions.
Why won’t my Lenovo tablet find my Bluetooth speaker or headphones?
The accessory is not actually in pairing mode
Return to the accessory manual and repeat its pairing procedure. A powered-on speaker can remain connected to a previous source without being discoverable. Look for the model’s pairing button or specified press-and-hold action, then leave the tablet’s Bluetooth discovery screen open while activating it.
If the accessory gives no obvious visual signal, the manual may specify a sound or a particular light pattern instead. Do not infer pairing mode solely from the fact that the accessory has power. Lenovo specifically says the device should be powered on and in pairing mode.
The devices are too far apart or blocked
Move the accessory within 1 meter of the tablet and remove walls or substantial metal objects from between them. Try the initial discovery with both devices in the same room and close together, following Lenovo’s distance and obstruction guidance.

The accessory is still connected to another device
Disconnect the speaker or headphones from any phone, tablet, or PC that is currently using them. Then put the accessory back into pairing mode and search again from the Lenovo tablet. This is especially important for accessories that automatically reconnect to their last source.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Bluetooth is off or the menu is different
Verify that the tablet’s Bluetooth switch is on. If you cannot find the expected menu, remember that Android settings vary by version. Try Quick Settings by holding the Bluetooth control, or search the Settings app for “Bluetooth.” Lenovo and Google both caution that menu paths and discovery steps can differ with the Android build and supporting hardware.
The tablet sees the name but pairing does not finish
Confirm that the accessory remains in pairing mode, is powered on, and is not connected elsewhere. Keep it within 1 meter during the attempt. Select its name again and accept the Pair prompt if Android displays one. If the controls or indicator behavior are unclear, use the relevant tablet and accessory manuals; the accessory documentation is the authority for its pairing sequence.
If the device disappears before you can tap it, reactivate pairing mode and search again. Some accessories leave pairing mode after a period of inactivity, so beginning the tablet search only after the accessory is ready can help. If the tablet shows the device as saved but it will not connect, select that saved entry rather than trying to create a new entry repeatedly.
The accessory works with another device but not this tablet
Bluetooth support is not identical across every Lenovo tablet generation or Android build. Google notes that some discovery steps depend on the Android version and the hardware that supports them. Check the exact Lenovo tablet specifications and the accessory manual for compatibility rather than assuming that every optional feature or accessory works with every model.
Basic pairing and advanced features should be evaluated separately. A speaker can be suitable for ordinary Bluetooth audio without supporting Fast Pair, while headphones can pair normally without supporting Multipoint or Audio switch. The absence of an optional feature is not proof that basic Bluetooth listening is unavailable.
Pairing versus reconnecting a saved device
Pairing is the initial setup in which the tablet and accessory are introduced to each other. After that, Android keeps the accessory as a saved or paired device. Reconnecting is usually simpler: enable Bluetooth, power on the accessory, and select its saved name if automatic reconnection does not occur. If the accessory has been reset or removed from the tablet’s saved list, perform the full pairing procedure again.
This distinction explains why a previously used headset may not appear under “available” devices. It may already be listed under saved devices and only need to be selected. Conversely, if the accessory has been reset, forgotten, or cleared by its own controls, the tablet must discover it in pairing mode again.
Optional features for using headphones with more than one device
Multipoint and Audio switch can make compatible headphones move between audio sources, but neither feature is needed to connect headphones to one Lenovo tablet. They also have stricter requirements than basic pairing.

| Feature | Requirements | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Basic Bluetooth pairing | Bluetooth enabled on the tablet; compatible accessory powered on and in pairing mode | Creates the initial connection, after which the accessory can appear as a saved device |
| Fast Pair | Android 6.0 or later, Bluetooth and Location enabled, and a Fast Pair-compatible accessory | Can present a setup notification instead of requiring manual selection in Bluetooth settings |
| Multipoint | Headphones that support two-device Bluetooth connections, Android 8 or later with Google Play Services, and the headphones connected to both audio sources | Maintains Bluetooth connections to two devices |
| Audio switch | Android 8 or later with Google Play Services; supported headphones connected through Fast Pair to the same Google Account on each audio source | Allows supported headphones to switch audio sources under Google’s Audio switch system |
Multipoint is not automatic on every pair of headphones
Two-device operation depends first on the headphone hardware. Even with a Lenovo tablet running Android 8 or newer and Google Play Services, Multipoint will not be available unless the headphones support two simultaneous Bluetooth connections. The headphones must also be connected to both audio sources.
Ordinary pairing establishes a connection with the Lenovo tablet; it does not promise that the headphones can maintain another connection at the same time. Look for explicit two-device or Multipoint support in the headphone documentation before expecting this behavior.
Audio switch has its own account and Fast Pair conditions
Google’s Audio switch feature requires Android 8 or later with Google Play Services. The supported headphones must have been connected through Fast Pair to the same Google Account on each audio source. A normal manual Bluetooth pairing may be sufficient for listening on one tablet but does not establish these Audio switch conditions.
Therefore, a headset can work perfectly when paired manually to the Lenovo tablet and still not appear as an Audio switch device. Audio switch is a separate, optional Google feature with its own compatible hardware, software, Fast Pair, and account requirements.

When Android labels do not match the instructions
Lenovo publishes a representative path rather than one universal map for every tablet: Connected devices → Connection preferences → Bluetooth. Android releases, Lenovo software builds, and tablet hardware can change the names or location of these controls. Use the tablet’s own Settings search, inspect Quick Settings, and consult the model-specific Lenovo manual when the labels differ. The underlying sequence remains the same: enable Bluetooth, start accessory pairing mode, choose the accessory, and confirm pairing.
Google’s Android instructions likewise describe version-dependent discovery steps. A Lenovo tablet may show “Pair new device,” “Available devices,” “Saved devices,” or slightly different labels. Treat those labels as navigation variations, not as different pairing technologies. The accessory manual remains the source for its button sequence and indicator behavior.
A practical pairing checklist
- Place the speaker or headphones beside the Lenovo tablet, ideally within 1 meter.
- Disconnect the accessory from any other phone, tablet, or PC.
- Open Bluetooth through Settings or by holding the Bluetooth tile in Quick Settings.
- Turn Bluetooth on.
- Use the accessory manual to activate pairing mode.
- Keep the tablet’s discovery page open while the accessory is advertising.
- Tap the accessory name under available devices.
- Tap Pair if Android asks for confirmation.
- Wait for the accessory to appear under paired or saved devices.
- For future sessions, select the saved device if it does not reconnect automatically.
If the accessory still does not appear after this sequence, repeat the pairing-mode step and verify the tablet and accessory manuals for model-specific controls and compatibility. Do not treat Fast Pair, Multipoint, or Audio switch as prerequisites for ordinary Bluetooth audio; they are optional features with separate software and hardware requirements.
What not to assume
- Do not assume that powering on the accessory automatically activates pairing mode.
- Do not assume every Lenovo tablet uses exactly the same Settings path.
- Do not assume a speaker or headset can pair while it remains connected to another source.
- Do not assume Fast Pair must appear for manual Bluetooth pairing to work.
- Do not assume every pair of headphones supports Multipoint or Audio switch.
- Do not assume a feature supported by one Lenovo tablet generation is supported by every other model.
These limits keep the troubleshooting process realistic. Start with the universal sequence, then check the model-specific documentation when a control, feature, or compatibility question remains.
