The steps depend on your model. On a Honeywell Home T9 or T10/T10+ Pro, you join Wi-Fi from the thermostat’s own Menu. On a Lyric T6, you do it through the app and your account. Find the model name on the thermostat or in its manual, then follow the matching section below.
Before you start
- Know your model. Menu names and connection flows differ between the T9, T10/T10+ Pro and Lyric T6.
- Have your Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password ready.
- Use a 2.4 GHz network for the Lyric T6. Resideo’s T6 guide (33-00170E-01) calls for a secure 2.4 GHz network and says your phone or tablet’s Wi-Fi should be on. That requirement comes from the T6 guide, so don’t assume it applies to every Honeywell model. If your router combines 2.4 and 5 GHz under one name, check the router settings if setup fails.
Connect by model
Honeywell Home T9
These steps follow Resideo’s T9 user guide (33-00478-04).

- Wake the thermostat by touching the screen.
- Tap Menu and scroll to Wi-Fi.
- Verify that Enable is selected.
- Tap Choose network.
- Select your home network and enter its password.
Honeywell Home T10 / T10+ Pro
These steps follow Resideo’s T10/T10+ Pro guide (33-00428-05).
- Open Menu and select WiFi.
- Tap Choose Network.
- Select your network and enter the password.
- To link the thermostat to your app, go to Menu > Connect App and follow the on-screen instructions. The guide treats joining Wi-Fi and linking the app as two separate steps.
Lyric T6
The T6 guide (33-00170E-01) starts from the app rather than the thermostat’s menu.

- CONTROL IT YOUR WAY. Control the T9 using the Resideo app or through Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, Google Assistant, and more.
- Install the Honeywell Home app and create an account.
- Follow the app’s instructions to add the thermostat and join your 2.4 GHz network.
- When setup works, the thermostat briefly shows SUCCESS and a connected symbol.
- To reconnect or change networks later, use Thermostat Configuration in the app.
Which app to use
App support is in transition, so don’t assume one app fits every thermostat. Resideo’s First Alert app notice (last updated May 30, 2025) says the initial launch supports specified T5/T6 and T9/T10/T10+ thermostat families. It says existing Total Connect Comfort, Total Connect 2.0, Resideo or Honeywell Home users can keep using their current app until they are migrated to the First Alert app or become compatible with it. It also says TCC/TC2.0 devices are not supported at launch. Use the app that the setup instructions for your exact model and account show, and check Resideo’s support pages if the app store listing has changed.
If it won’t connect
“Incorrect Password” message
On T9 and T10 models, the message “Incorrect Password – Please re-enter the password and try again” means the thermostat failed to join your local Wi-Fi because of the password (Resideo support page, updated March 10, 2025). To check the password, forget the network on a phone, then reconnect with the password you’re entering on the thermostat. Watch for case sensitivity and look-alike characters.

Password is right but it still fails
Resideo’s troubleshooting page (updated September 13, 2024) recommends the following:

- Adjust or reorient the router antennas.
- Make sure the router or gateway has its current system updates.
If none of that works, contact Honeywell Home technical support through Resideo’s current official support page.
