You can connect a cloud service to a YouTube channel owned by a Brand Account without sharing the Google Account password. First make sure the channel can livestream, then grant any needed channel access, and give the cloud encoder the stream destination and key from YouTube Studio. The exact authorization screens and roles depend on the service; when it uses encoder fields, the stream key is the essential connection credential.
Before connecting: confirm the channel can livestream
Use the YouTube channel that will host the continuous stream. YouTube’s current guidance requires the channel to be verified, have no livestreaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and be operated by someone at least 16 years old. First-time livestream enablement can take up to 24 hours, so enable it ahead of the time you want to start. Check the channel’s status in YouTube Studio because eligibility and interface details can change. YouTube’s livestreaming eligibility guidance and its encoder setup guide explain the requirements.

Set up Brand Account access safely
A Brand Account’s channel owner can use YouTube channel permissions to let other people work on the channel without giving them the Google Account password. YouTube directs Brand Account owners to migrate to channel permissions to add or remove access. Review YouTube channel permissions and grant only the role required for the task.

There is no single role that can be assumed for every cloud provider. A service may connect directly through YouTube authorization, or it may ask for encoder details instead. Follow the provider’s current instructions, check that the correct channel is selected during any authorization flow, and do not grant broader access than its documented workflow requires. YouTube’s general guidance does not establish the permissions required by every third-party service.

Create or select a YouTube stream and copy its encoder details
- Sign in to the Google account with access to the intended channel and open YouTube Studio.
- Open Go live to reach Live Control Room. Create a stream or select the stream you intend to use.
- Copy the stream URL or destination and the stream key shown in the stream’s settings. The URL tells the encoder where to send video; the key lets YouTube accept the feed. YouTube describes keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” See Manage live stream settings.
- In the cloud service, either complete its documented direct YouTube authorization or enter the destination and key in its encoder settings. Do not assume these are interchangeable workflows; use the fields the service actually provides.
- Keep the key private. Anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to the associated stream. If it is exposed, reset or replace it in YouTube Studio and update the cloud service with the new key.
YouTube’s encoder help page names Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded video, but that mention does not explain its current authorization screens or commercial terms. Regardless of provider, use that provider’s up-to-date connection instructions rather than guessing at its UI.
Use RTMPS and verify the stream before relying on it
If the cloud encoder supports RTMPS, choose the RTMPS destination supplied in Live Control Room. YouTube describes RTMPS as RTMP over a TLS/SSL connection that provides encryption. The service and YouTube must use matching ingest details for the feed to connect. See YouTube’s RTMPS guidance.

- Start the cloud feed and wait for the signal or preview to appear in Live Control Room.
- Check that both video and audio are present and that the preview is stable.
- Confirm the stream is accessible on the channel or watch page from a viewer’s perspective before leaving it unattended.
- Monitor stream health. YouTube recommends preparing the encoder in advance and leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom; that is platform guidance, not a guarantee of continuous availability from any cloud provider. See YouTube streaming tips.
Clear rights for every item in a continuous playlist
Before starting a 24/7 playlist, confirm you have the rights needed for every video and audio track, including music. YouTube scans livestreams for third-party content; a stream can be interrupted even if you have a license when the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. Review YouTube’s Terms of Service and its copyright guidance, and resolve any rights-holder allowlisting requirement before relying on a licensed track in a continuous feed.

Troubleshoot common connection problems
- No live option or encoder access: Confirm you are in the intended channel, that it is verified and eligible, and that livestreaming is enabled. If this is first-time activation, allow up to 24 hours.
- The provider authorizes the wrong channel: Cancel before completing authorization, switch to the intended channel, and verify the selected channel in the provider’s authorization flow.
- YouTube receives no signal: Check that the cloud service is running and that its destination and stream key exactly match the selected YouTube stream. If you rotated the key, replace the saved key in the service as well.
- Preview appears but playback is inaccessible: Check the stream’s visibility and settings in Live Control Room, then test the channel or watch page as a viewer.
- Stream is interrupted after it begins: Check Live Control Room for stream-health alerts and review the playlist for third-party material that may trigger a rights claim or Content ID block. A license alone may not prevent interruption if the channel is not allowlisted.
- Provider asks for account credentials: Do not send your Google Account password. Ask whether it supports YouTube channel permissions or a stream-key/encoder workflow, and use only the access method documented by the provider.
