To make a Razer MMO mouse button activate a World of Warcraft ability, map that mouse button to a keyboard key in Razer Synapse, then bind the same key to the desired action-bar slot in WoW. Start with a few buttons, test them, and add more only if the layout feels comfortable.
Before you start
- Install or open the Synapse version supported by your specific mouse, then select the mouse. Razer says Synapse enables advanced features such as macros and profile settings for the Naga Left-Handed Edition; software requirements can differ by model. Check the Razer support page for your device for compatible software. [c001]
- Choose keyboard keys you can reserve for the mouse buttons. You will assign those keys in Synapse and then bind them in WoW.
- For a mouse with interchangeable side plates, consider how many buttons you can reach comfortably. Razer describes the Naga V2 Pro’s 12-button plate as recommended for MMOs and its 2-button plate as recommended for general use; that is a layout distinction, not a claim that more buttons improve gameplay. Configure the mouse button in Synapse
- Open Synapse and select your mouse from the Dashboard.
- Select the side button you want to configure and assign it a keyboard key that you plan to use in WoW.
- Save the assignment. Razer’s Synapse 4 instructions use the Dashboard, button selection, assignment, and Save; the exact labels and available assignments depend on the device and software version. Razer Synapse 4 instructions. [c002]
Repeat for a small number of thumb buttons rather than programming an entire grid at once. For each button, keep a note of its assigned key so you can match it to the right in-game action.

Bind the key to an action in World of Warcraft
- Open WoW’s Options and go to Keybindings.
- Find the action-bar slot or other action you want the mouse button to activate.
- Set that action’s binding to the same keyboard key assigned in Synapse. Community walkthroughs describe this two-stage method; it is practical guidance, not an official Blizzard instruction. WoW community discussion of action-bar keybindings. [c005]
- Test the button in a safe setting. Confirm it activates the intended action, then repeat for any additional buttons.
If WoW does not detect a side button as a separate input, map it to a keyboard key in Synapse and bind that key in WoW. Community users describe this workaround, but it may not resolve every device, operating-system, or software-version issue. [c006]

Choose a layout you can use reliably
Button count is only one part of the choice. A dense MMO grid can provide more direct bindings, but only if you can distinguish and reach its buttons comfortably. Start with a few positions you can identify by feel, verify the assigned key and in-game action for each, and expand gradually. This is a usability approach, not a tested optimal layout.

- Consider a smaller layout if a larger grid is difficult to navigate or you prefer fewer side buttons; Razer identifies the Naga V2 Pro’s 2-button plate for general use. [c003]
- Check that your mouse supports the Synapse version and profile behavior you intend to use. Compatibility and software dependencies vary by model.
Troubleshoot unexpected inputs
The button sends its original number key or the wrong key
Check that the intended Synapse profile and key map are active. A community troubleshooting discussion identifies profile or key-map selection as a possible cause when a button produces an unexpected input. WoW community troubleshooting discussion. [c008]
The correct key activates the wrong action, or more than one action responds
In WoW’s Keybindings, inspect the binding for the intended action-bar slot and look for another action using the same key. Conflicting or duplicate bindings can make the result seem inconsistent. [c005] [c006]

The profile stops applying when Synapse closes
Razer documents profile switching and notes that some Synapse functions require Synapse to remain running. The dependency is model- and feature-specific, so check the support information for your mouse rather than assuming every Razer model behaves the same way. [c002] [c007]

This configuration uses one mouse button to send one keyboard key, with WoW assigning that key to an action. It does not require a macro that automates a sequence of in-game actions. Keep the setup to direct button-to-key assignments and in-game keybindings.
