In Destiny 2, “weekly challenge” can mean the rotating Ascendant Challenge activity, while Petra Venj separately offers weekly bounties and quests. Check Petra’s current bounty text before setting out: objectives rotate, and the exact active challenge on October 4, 2026, is not established here.
Check Petra’s current offerings first
Visit Petra Venj in the Dreaming City and read each bounty’s objective and reward before starting. A bounty, an activity, and a quest are separate things; completing the activity does not automatically satisfy every Petra objective.

Historical guidance from Bungie Help forum responder BNGHelp6 on October 2, 2018, distinguished two weekly bounties—Ascendant Challenge completion and Blind Well completions, named “Gateway Between Worlds”—from separate quests for a story mission and daily-bounty completions (“War for the Dreaming City”). That is useful context, not a guarantee of Petra’s current inventory; use the live vendor screen for today’s requirements.
Petra’s Dreaming City bounties cannot be purchased through the Destiny Companion app’s mobile bounty-purchase feature, according to Bungie’s Destiny 2 guide. Pick them up from Petra in game. Once acquired, bounties appear in the Director’s Quest tab.
#1 Best Overall
- From the makers of the acclaimed hit game Destiny, comes the much-anticipated sequel
- An action shooter that takes you on an epic journey across the solar system
- Humanity’s last safe city has fallen to an overwhelming invasion force, led by Ghaul, the imposing commander of the brutal Red Legion
- To defeat the Red Legion and confront Ghaul, you must reunite humanity’s scattered heroes, stand together, and fight back to reclaim our home
Choose the bounty path that matches your objective
| Path | What to do | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Ascendant Challenge bounty | Find and complete the current rotating Ascendant Challenge. | The location is tied to the current weekly bounty; read its clue and objective. |
| Gateway Between Worlds | Complete the Blind Well activity as directed by the bounty. | It is a separate bounty path, not a substitute for an Ascendant Challenge objective. |
These paths are described in historical vendor guidance and community activity references. Petra’s current bounty wording takes precedence, especially if you are working toward a specific quest or Triumph.
Complete the Ascendant Challenge bounty
- Pick up the current bounty from Petra. Read the full objective and the Toland quotation; the quotation can hint at that week’s challenge location.
- Use a Tincture of Queensfoil. This in-game consumable reveals Ascendant portals. The community activity reference describes the Ascendant Challenge as a weekly rotating Dreaming City activity; the current portal location is not specified here.
- Enter and finish the challenge. Follow the bounty’s present instructions rather than assuming an older objective or route still applies.
- Open the challenge reward chest and check bounty progress. Confirm the counter updates before leaving. The exact live rotation and objective should be checked in game.
If the bounty does not progress, compare its text with the current challenge location. A 2019 Bungie Help forum response reported that a bounty carried over from the prior week could correspond to a different location; the responder advised discarding the stale bounty and picking up the newly offered one. Treat that as historical community troubleshooting, and verify the current behavior against Petra’s inventory.

- Online only and requires a PlayStation Plus membership.
- An incredible story set within a newly-imagined, always-connected universe filled with action and adventure.
- Create your character, forge your legend by defeating powerful foes, and earn unique and customizable weapons, gear, and vehicles.
- Unprecedented variety of FPS gameplay that redefines the genre and breaks traditional conventions of story, cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes.
Complete Gateway Between Worlds in the Blind Well
Gateway Between Worlds is associated with Blind Well completions. Complete the activity and watch the counter on the current bounty; do not rely on an old progress count, since the live objective can change. The community database associates this bounty with an Offering to the Oracle reward, but check the reward shown on Petra’s current version.

An Ascendant Challenge’s final reward chest is not necessarily an Ascendant Chest counted by a separate Dreaming City chest-collection Triumph. In a July 2026 Bungie forum thread, a player described finishing Ascendant Challenges with Queensfoil and a weekly bounty while seeing zero of three Triumph chests. A forum responder explained that the Triumph referred to Ascendant Chests found around the Dreaming City, grouped according to curse state—not the challenge reward chest.

- Brand New in box. The product ships with all relevant accessories
Before repeating an activity, read the full Triumph name and objective. If it asks for Ascendant Chests around the Dreaming City, completing another challenge may not advance that counter.
