To complete a bounty in Cattle Country, pick up a Wanted Poster at the Sheriff’s building, track down and take out the named bandit, then return to Sheriff Tom to claim your reward. Playtonic Games describes that sequence in its Bandits & Bounties update announcement.
How to complete a bounty
- Find a Wanted Poster. Look at the Sheriff’s building and pick up a bounty from one of its posters.
- Track the wanted bandit. Head into the wilderness to find your target.
- Take down the target. Once you have found the bandit, defeat them.
- Return to Sheriff Tom. Go back to him to claim the bounty reward. Finding the target and returning to Sheriff Tom are both part of the process; defeating the bandit alone is not the final claim step.
What reward do bounties pay?
The official update confirms that a completed bounty earns a reward claimed from Sheriff Tom, but it does not specify the reward’s type or amount. No payout figure or target-specific reward is published in the official materials cited here, so a cash value or particular item cannot be confirmed.

How bounties differ from other bandit encounters
Wanted Poster hunts are a distinct activity from the other encounters introduced in the update. Bandit camps can appear while exploring the overworld and may offer plunder, but the announcement does not make clearing a camp part of completing a poster bounty. Random robberies and shootouts at the General Store, Butcher, Carpenter, and Bank are also separate encounters; they do not replace returning to Sheriff Tom to claim a bounty.
What the official update does not specify
Playtonic’s announcement does not establish bounty deadlines, failure conditions, repeat limits, required equipment, level requirements, or reward amounts. Check the poster and in-game instructions for any details shown in your playthrough rather than assuming those rules apply.
