Start with the legal supplier named on the cloud account and invoice, then check its tax profile. AWS India and Google Cloud describe different GST treatments for some India-billed customers, so a headline tax rate alone cannot tell you which bill will be higher. To compare invoices fairly, also match the stream’s runtime, resolution, outputs, viewer traffic, delivery assumptions, and invoice currency.
Why the billed entity and tax profile come first
Cloud bills are not comparable until you know which legal entity is supplying the service and what tax details are saved to the account. Google Cloud’s published India treatment varies by contracting entity. AWS’s India tax guidance describes GST on AWS India sales to customers in India. Check the supplier and tax details on the account and final invoice rather than assuming that a selected data-center region determines the tax treatment.

AWS India
AWS says its cloud-service sales to Indian customers attract GST. Its guidance describes 9% CGST plus 9% SGST for customers in Delhi, and 18% IGST for customers in other states. Registered business customers should add their GSTIN and registered address in tax settings so AWS can issue the appropriate invoice. Google Cloud
Google Cloud describes two treatments for India customers. Customers contracted with Google Asia Pacific who provide a valid GSTIN are charged 0% GST; those without a valid GSTIN are charged 18%. Services sold by Google Cloud India Private Limited to customers with an India billing address are subject to 18% GST regardless of GSTIN status. Confirm the contracting entity shown for the account and invoice; do not infer it from the region selected for a service. See Google Cloud’s India tax information.

Google says migrated India accounts billed by Google Cloud India Private Limited are invoiced in INR. Its migration FAQ says customers without a Tax ID are charged GST based on the billing-address state. Check the invoice currency and account tax profile directly. Normalize the streaming workload before comparing totals
GST is only one invoice line. A 24/7 YouTube workflow can incur costs for different resources, and providers meter them differently. Write down the same workload for each estimate before comparing pre-tax totals.

What the cloud-streaming services meter
Google Live Stream API
Google’s Live Stream API bills based on active channel runtime and configured resolutions and outputs. Distribution streams are additional outputs. Active duration has a ten-minute minimum and is then rounded up to the nearest minute; the API has no free usage tier. Google also says a channel can be active, and billable, when it has no input. Include idle-but-active time in an estimate and stop channels or distributions when they are not needed, subject to your operational needs. Review Live Stream API pricing.
AWS live video
An AWS live-stream architecture may combine an encoder, packaging or origination, and CDN distribution; estimating only the encoder can omit significant components. AWS’s published example is $69.74 per hour for a one-hour workflow in US-East-1 with 1,000 viewers, highest-bitrate consumption, and a 99% cache-hit ratio. It is an illustrative workload example, not an India price or a monthly estimate for a YouTube-origin stream. AWS notes that prices can change and recommends budgeting. - Identify the supplier. Record the legal entity and billing country shown in each cloud account and on the invoice.
- Verify tax details. Check the saved GSTIN, registered address, and billing address. For Google Cloud, establish whether the account is contracted with Google Asia Pacific or Google Cloud India Private Limited; region choice alone does not answer this.
- Define one workload. Use the same monthly active hours, resolution, codec, outputs and distribution endpoints, expected bitrate and viewers, and delivery region for each estimate. Include active idle time.
- Include every relevant service. For AWS, account for encoding, packaging/origination, and CDN delivery where they are part of the architecture. For Google, include the configured channel resolution and each distribution output.
- Separate the bill components. Compare the recurring pre-tax estimate, GST line, invoice currency, and final billed amount separately. Use current provider pricing tools and verify the actual invoice; a published example is not a quote for your account.
- Keep business tax records. If your business is GST-registered, retain the tax invoice and confirm input tax credit eligibility for your circumstances with an appropriate tax professional. AWS also conditions credit eligibility on local law and circumstances.
Why there is no reliable one-number monthly answer
A monthly total cannot be established without a defined stream configuration, viewer traffic, delivery region, account entity and tax profile, and current pricing inputs. A 24/7 schedule establishes that runtime matters, but does not specify resolution, outputs, traffic, or delivery costs. Build an estimate with those assumptions in each provider’s current pricing tools, then compare it with your actual invoice. Do not multiply AWS’s US-East-1 one-hour example into an India monthly quote.
