Compare the Galaxy S25 Ultra and S26 Ultra at the same storage capacity and condition, then calculate what you will actually pay after discounts, trade-in, taxes, financing and any required service plan. A refurbished S25 Ultra price is not a like-for-like match for a new S26 Ultra, and a large trade-in headline or low monthly payment does not by itself show which deal costs less.
How to compare the two phones fairly
- Match storage. Compare 256GB with 256GB, 512GB with 512GB, or 1TB with 1TB. Samsung’s US S26 Ultra purchase page showed all three capacities; prices vary by tier. Check the Galaxy S26 Ultra unlocked listing for the current capacity and price.
- Match condition. Label each offer as new, refurbished, open-box or used. A lower price may reflect a different condition, not a better deal on the same product. Best Buy’s surfaced S25 Ultra listings included refurbished and open-box options. Check the unlocked Galaxy S25 Ultra listings and confirm the condition shown on the exact item.
- Match seller and lock status. Compare an unlocked phone’s checkout price with a carrier offer only after accounting for required service, activation, payment duration and bill-credit conditions.
- Calculate the full cost. Add the device payments, required fees and any extra service-plan cost over the commitment period. Subtract only discounts and credits you are eligible to receive. Include taxes as shown at checkout; their amount can depend on location.
- Record the terms beside every price. Note retailer, date checked, storage, condition, unlocked or carrier status, and all offer requirements. Prices and inventory change.
Where is currently the cheapest place to buy the Samsung S26 Ultra?
There is no single cheapest seller established by the available offers: the answer depends on storage, trade-in eligibility, seller, and whether a carrier plan is required. On October 3, 2026, Samsung US showed an unlocked 256GB S26 Ultra at $1,099.99 after a stated $200 instant saving from $1,299.99, plus up to $720 in instant trade-in credit. These were volatile offer terms, not a guaranteed price for every buyer. Verify the live Galaxy S26 Ultra price and terms before comparing.

There is a notable reference-price discrepancy: Tom’s Guide reported on October 1, 2026, that the S26 Ultra’s US starting list price had risen from $1,299 to $1,399, while Samsung’s cited purchase page still used $1,299.99 as the reference price for its discount. Neither figure should be treated as a universal price across sellers. Check the amount and discount actually displayed at checkout. Read Tom’s Guide’s October 1 price report.
A separate Best Buy category result showed an unlocked refurbished excellent 512GB S25 Ultra at $722 in 2026. That is useful as a dated example, not a direct comparison with a new S26 Ultra: the capacity and condition differ from Samsung’s cited 256GB new S26 offer, and stock, condition details and delivery estimates can change. Confirm the exact refurbished Galaxy S25 Ultra listing.

What the final price should include
Instant discounts and store credit
An instant discount reduces the checkout price. A gift card or store credit does not reduce the amount charged for the phone; count it at face value only if you would use it. Keep the two kinds of value separate when comparing offers.
Trade-in value
Record the exact trade-in model, condition and quoted credit. Samsung says eligible models and amounts can change at its discretion. Check how the program handles an inspection that finds the device in worse condition than declared, and base your comparison on the credit you expect to receive—not the maximum advertised amount. Review Samsung’s trade-in terms.

Carrier financing and bill credits
For a carrier offer, total the device installments and required plan cost over the full credit period, plus activation or other required charges. Check whether bill credits continue only while you maintain an eligible line or plan, and whether paying off the phone early affects remaining credits. Carrier terms depend on the buyer and account; the advertised device payment alone is not a like-for-like price against an unlocked purchase.

Samsung lists the S26 Ultra with a 6.9-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, adaptive 1–120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 2,600 nits. Its camera specification is 200MP wide, 50MP ultra-wide, 10MP 3x telephoto and 50MP 5x telephoto. Samsung’s comparison lists the S25 Ultra at the same 6.9-inch full-rectangle diagonal; after accounting for rounded corners, Samsung gives 6.7 inches for the S26 Ultra and 6.8 inches for the S25 Ultra. Viewable area is smaller still because of rounded corners and the camera opening. See Samsung’s S26 Ultra specifications and comparison.

Samsung also identifies the S26 Ultra’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor customized for Galaxy and its Privacy Display, which darkens the screen for people viewing from an angle. These are manufacturer descriptions, not independent test results. Privacy Display may matter to someone who uses a phone around other people; its value is more personal than a price reduction.
Samsung states up to 31 hours of video playback for both the S26 Ultra and S25 Ultra. That manufacturer-stated figure does not establish identical battery life in everyday use. No independent performance testing is established here, so weigh the newer processor and camera specifications against the actual net price difference rather than assuming a measured performance gain.

Samsung announced general availability for the S26 series beginning March 11, 2026, through Amazon Stores, Best Buy, Samsung Experience Stores, Samsung.com and carriers nationwide. That launch announcement does not establish today’s stock or prices.
