There is no retailer that is consistently cheapest for every Apple product. To find the better offer, compare the same model and configuration, then account for who sells it, its condition, delivery, and any requirements attached to the discount. Use Apple’s current price as a benchmark—not as proof that another retailer’s sale is a bargain.
Start with the exact Apple product and configuration
Two listings are comparable only when they refer to the same item. Match the product generation and model, then check configuration details that affect price: Mac chip, memory and storage; iPad or iPhone storage and connectivity; and screen size or other model-specific features. Note color when it affects the listing. Also make sure both offers are for new products, or compare refurbished and open-box products separately.

A lower price for a different storage capacity, cellular model, chip, or generation is not a like-for-like saving. Write down the full configuration before searching other stores.

Check Apple’s listing for the exact configuration and record its price and the date you checked. Apple says prices can change, so a previously seen price may no longer be current. Prices, taxes, stock, promotions and terms also vary by location; the policy details below refer to U.S. pages.
#1 Best Overall
Apple’s price is a useful reference point, not a guaranteed market price. A retailer’s crossed-out price or percentage discount alone does not establish that its current offer is unusually low. For an Amazon listing, consult price history as context; it can help show whether a discount is unusual, but it does not prove value or predict what the price will do next. TechRadar explains how to check Amazon price history.
Compare the real cost and the offer conditions
Check the amount you will actually pay and what you must do to receive any advertised savings. Keep conditional benefits visible rather than folding them into the sticker price.

Apple’s store presents education pricing, trade-in, carrier offers and certified refurbished products as distinct ways to buy; each has its own eligibility, value or inventory considerations. Check Apple’s current U.S. store offers and the terms for the specific product before comparing its effective cost with a retailer’s price.
Check retailer price-match rules before relying on them
A price-match policy is conditional, not a promise to match every online listing. Best Buy’s U.S. Price Match Guarantee, marked effective September 2, 2026, applies to qualifying current prices for immediately available new products sold by Best Buy. Its exclusions include marketplace listings, refurbished and open-box items, trade-in offers, some paid-membership or loyalty prices, certain special-event sales, and out-of-stock or limited-quantity products. The policy may be amended, so check Best Buy’s current Price Match Guarantee and confirm that the exact product, seller and offer qualify before treating a competing price as a saving.

In particular, do not assume that Best Buy will match an Amazon result just because the product name and price look similar. Seller identity, availability, condition and offer type can affect eligibility.
Keep trade-in credits separate from the device price
Apple Trade In estimates depend on the device, model, manufacturer and condition. Apple may revise the value after receiving or inspecting the device; an in-store assessment can differ from an online estimate if the device’s condition does not match its description. Get an estimate for the exact device and describe its condition accurately, then compare the purchase price and trade-in credit as separate amounts. Review Apple Trade In details before counting an estimated credit toward your total.

Compare refurbished products as a separate category
Apple says its certified refurbished products come with a one-year warranty. Availability and the exact product terms depend on inventory and region. Compare the same specification and check the warranty, included items and condition before weighing Apple-certified refurbished against a new product or another seller’s refurbished or open-box offer. A refurbished listing is not equivalent to a new listing simply because the model number matches. See Apple’s current certified refurbished selection.

- Identify the product: Write down its generation, model and all price-relevant configuration details.

- Find equivalent listings: Search Amazon and other retailers for the same configuration, not just the same product family.

- Work out checkout cost: Compare tax, shipping and delivery timing, alongside return and warranty terms.
- Unpack conditional savings: Record trade-in estimates, carrier credits, financing, education or membership offers separately, with their requirements.
- Check the price context: For a claimed Amazon deal, use price history as context rather than treating the headline discount as proof of a bargain.
- Confirm any price match: Read the retailer’s current policy and verify that the seller, item, availability and offer type qualify.
What Apple’s U.S. post-purchase price policy covers
Apple’s U.S. Shopping Help page says that if Apple reduces the price of an Apple-branded product within 14 calendar days after the customer receives it, the customer may request a refund or credit for the difference within 14 days of the price change. The page excludes limited-time reductions and special sales events such as Black Friday, and states a 10-unit limit for a particular product. Apple also reserves the right to change prices and correct inadvertent pricing errors. Read Apple’s current U.S. pricing help for the terms in force when you buy; this policy concerns a price reduction at Apple, not a general guarantee that Apple will match another retailer.
