Compare an SBC reward with the best player you already have for the same job—not simply with your squad’s overall rating. Then weigh that upgrade against the specific Player Items the challenge will permanently remove. EA recommends comparing the items exchanged with the reward; the decision itself depends on your lineup, the challenge’s requirements and your alternatives.
Start with the role the reward would fill
Identify where you would actually use the reward: its position and role in your usual lineup, or whether it would be a substitute. Compare it with your strongest current option for that job. Consider the attributes and abilities relevant to the role, any known roles or PlayStyles, and how well the player suits the setup you intend to use.

Check what this particular SBC asks for
Read the challenge’s own requirements rather than assuming every SBC uses the same format. EA’s FC 26 guidance lists possible puzzle-SBC requirements such as squad rating, chemistry, player quality, leagues, nations and clubs. Some SBCs have multiple steps or group rewards, so assess the full challenge and reward structure before committing items. EA Help’s SBC guidance

Keep game year in view. EA’s FC 27 guide distinguishes traditional puzzle SBCs, which use squad requirements, from Simplified SBCs, which use an Item Score based on overall rating and rarity. Those FC 27 Simplified SBC rules should not be assumed to apply to FC 26. EA SPORTS FC 27 FUT Deep Dive
Account for the exact items you would submit
Before submitting, list the players and other items the challenge would take from your club. Consider whether any are starters, useful substitutes, needed for another challenge or difficult for you to replace. EA says submitted Player Items are permanently removed and cannot be restored in FC 26. In FC 27, EA also says items submitted for partial progress are removed even if you do not finish the SBC. That makes the cost personal: two items with similar ratings can have very different value to your club if one is a regular lineup option and the other is expendable. Do not submit a player you are relying on without first deciding how you would cover that role.
Verify the reward, deadline and available alternatives
Before buying anything or submitting a squad, check the SBC’s rewards and expiry, your club and SBC Storage, and the Transfer Market. EA recommends checking these details and comparing the exchanged Player Items with the reward you are earning. EA Help’s SBC efficiency guidance

Use the exact challenge and game version when checking eligibility or alternatives. Chemistry can be an SBC requirement in FC 26, but that fact does not establish the complete chemistry-to-match-performance formula for FC 26 or FC 27. - Name the role: Decide where the reward would play or whether it would serve as a substitute.
- Choose the comparison: Compare it with your best current alternative for that role, using the attributes and abilities that matter to your setup.
- Read the requirements: Confirm the exact SBC format, steps, eligibility rules, reward and expiry for your game year.
- Price the opportunity cost in your club: Identify the particular items you would lose and whether you need them now or for another challenge.
- Commit only if the trade makes sense: Ask whether the reward improves a role you need enough to justify giving up those items permanently.

Optional ways to manage the challenge
EA says its Companion App supports SBC completion, club management, tactics, Evolutions and Transfer Market activity on Android and iOS devices and tablets. It is an optional way to manage Ultimate Team, not a requirement for comparing a reward with your squad. EA SPORTS FC Companion App
