To tell whether an Amazon offer is competitive, first confirm you are comparing the same product and variant, then compare the likely checkout total and check how the price sits against recent history. Amazon and Keepa show Amazon-focused price history; Google Shopping can add cross-retailer seller offers and price context for US shoppers. None of these tools can promise what a price will do next.
How do I compare Amazon prices with other retailers?
Start with the exact offer, not just the product name. A different size, color, bundle, condition, or seller can make two similar-looking listings poor comparisons.

- Identify the exact item. Copy the model number or other product identifier, then check size, color, pack count, condition, and included accessories.
- Check who is selling it and on what terms. Note the seller, delivery cost, any coupon or discount, and return or availability conditions shown. These can change the value of an otherwise matching offer.
- Search the exact product in Google Shopping. Review the current seller offers and, where displayed, its low, typical, and high price insights. Google says its typical-price assessment uses information from sellers across the web, not only sellers represented on Google Shopping. The documented price insights are available to US shoppers.
- Compare likely checkout cost. Include item price, shipping, and discounts or coupons, and make sure you are comparing the same condition and seller terms. Google says its 30-day-low indicator is based on total price, which usually consists of item price, discount, and shipping.
A lower displayed item price is not necessarily the lower-cost offer if shipping or other terms differ. Google’s total-price basis is useful context, but still check the actual offer details before buying.

Is this Amazon price actually a good deal?
Price history helps answer whether a price is low relative to its own past, while retailer comparisons show whether another seller currently has a better offer. These are different questions: a price can be low for an Amazon listing’s recent history and still not be the best available checkout total elsewhere.

- Four Tags for Everyday Essentials — Keep track of keys, bags, backpacks and luggage with a four-pack of FancyDove tracker tags. Attach one to each item and give it a clear name in Find My.
- Works with Apple Find My — Add each tag to the Items tab in Apple's Find My app on a compatible iPhone or iPad. Designed for Apple devices; Android pairing is not supported.
- Ring Nearby, Locate on the Map — Play a sound when your tag is within Bluetooth range. Away from you, the Find My network can help report its location when detected by a nearby participating Apple device. Location updates depend on network availability.
- Help When an Item Goes Missing — Enable supported left-behind notifications in Find My and use Lost Mode for a missing item. This is an item finder, not a real-time GPS tracker; alerts and location updates are not guaranteed to be immediate.
- Replaceable Battery, Simple Setup — Powered by a replaceable CR2032 battery. Follow the included instructions to activate each tag, choose Add Other Item in Find My, and assign an item name. Check the device requirements before pairing.
Amazon says its deal reference prices are validated against either a List Price, described as a suggested retail price, or a Typical Price based on recent customer payments on Amazon. That is Amazon’s own reference-price method, so it should not be treated as directly equivalent to every other retailer’s pricing labels.
Use history as context rather than a forecast. Google explicitly says its 30-day-low feature does not predict future prices. A historical low does not mean the price will fall again, and a current discount alone does not establish that waiting will save money.

How can I check an item’s price history?
Amazon price history
On a supported Amazon product page, look for its price-history link; Amazon also says customers can ask Alexa for Shopping a price-history question. Amazon describes 30-, 90-, and 365-day views, but the relevant view may not appear for every product or locale. Its feature page lists availability in the US, UK, Canada, and India, and says 365-day insights were rolling out in the US, UK, and India. Check the current product page for what is available to you. Keepa charts and alerts
Keepa’s Chrome extension adds price-history charts and price-drop or availability alerts on supported Amazon sites. Its coverage is Amazon-focused; the extension listing does not establish retailer-wide price history for non-Amazon stores. Extension features and versions can change. Google Shopping price insights
Google Shopping can show current seller offers and low, typical, and high price context for US shoppers. Its typical-price information draws on seller information across the web, according to Google. The 30-day-low indicator uses total price as described above, and does not forecast what a price will do. Google’s price insights help page
Which price-checking tool should I use?
| Tool | Best use | Documented scope | Important caveat |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon price history | Checking an Amazon listing against its recent price history; Amazon price alerts | 30-, 90-, and 365-day views where supported. Amazon lists the US, UK, Canada, and India for the feature; 365-day insights were rolling out in the US, UK, and India. Amazon | Availability varies by product and rollout; it is not cross-retailer history. |
| Google Shopping price insights | Reviewing seller offers and low, typical, or high price context | Documented for US shoppers; typical-price information draws on seller information across the web. Google Help | The 30-day-low indicator does not predict future prices. |
| Keepa extension | Amazon price charts and price-drop or availability alerts | Supported Amazon sites and listed marketplaces. Keepa listing | Coverage and extension features can change; this is not evidence of non-Amazon retailer-wide history. |
How should I decide whether to buy now?
Use the comparison and history together: confirm the exact item, compare likely checkout totals and terms, then judge the Amazon offer against its own recent prices. Buy when the current saving is worthwhile to you given how long you are willing to wait and any seller, delivery, or return trade-offs. Do not treat a prior low as a promise of a repeat.
