To compare ad earnings fairly, use each stream’s estimated ad revenue over the same dates, then examine views, estimated monetized playbacks, ad impressions, watch time, playback-based CPM and audience geography. YouTube does not establish a fixed Hindi-versus-English ad rate: language alone cannot tell you which stream will earn more.
Start with the right earnings measure
If the question is specifically about advertising, compare estimated ad revenue for each stream. Do not treat CPM as creator earnings or substitute RPM for ad revenue.

- CPM is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions.
- Playback-based CPM is advertiser cost per 1,000 video playbacks in which an ad was shown.
- RPM is creator revenue per 1,000 views after YouTube’s revenue share. It can combine ads, YouTube Premium, memberships, Super Chat and Super Stickers, so it is not an ad-only measure.
- Estimated ad revenue isolates estimated earnings from ads. YouTube explains these metrics and their distinctions in Understand ad revenue analytics.
Views and monetized playbacks are not interchangeable: not every view receives an ad. A stream can have a higher playback-based CPM but lower total ad earnings if it has fewer views or a smaller share of playbacks with ads.
Compare matched time windows
- Choose identical date ranges. Use the same calendar dates for both streams. If audience or content changes substantially from day to day, repeat the comparison over several matched windows and state the dates.
- Record the total estimated ad revenue for each stream. This answers which earned more in total during that period.
- Add the delivery measures. Record views, watch time, estimated monetized playbacks, ad impressions and playback-based CPM for the same period. These figures help explain how the revenue totals differ.
- If comparing efficiency, define the denominator. For example, calculate ad revenue per 1,000 views as estimated ad revenue divided by views, multiplied by 1,000. Label it clearly as ad revenue per 1,000 views; it is not RPM.
- Check the reporting scope. State whether the figures include live and on-demand playback or are intended to describe live viewing only.
Keep totals and normalized figures separate. Total estimated ad revenue answers which stream earned more overall; revenue per 1,000 views can help compare the result relative to audience size, but neither number alone explains ad delivery.

Account for geography, timing and ad delivery
YouTube identifies geography, seasonality, ad formats, ad targeting and availability, and other viewer-specific factors as influences on CPM and whether an ad is served. Two streams in different languages may attract audiences in different advertising markets, but a revenue difference does not establish that language caused it. Compare actual audience locations and the matched-period delivery figures before drawing a conclusion. See YouTube’s explanation of ad revenue analytics.
In YouTube Analytics, audience reporting can show top geographies by watch time and top subtitle/CC languages. These are useful clues about who watched, not proof of every viewer’s spoken language or a definitive label for the stream. YouTube also notes that some audience data may be limited; consult Understand your YouTube audience.

Check live reporting and monetization settings
Live-only revenue has a reporting limitation
YouTube’s live metrics guidance says revenue reports are unavailable when filtering for Live alone. If your comparison needs revenue, say whether you are using Live & on demand or another blended view, and do not present blended revenue as live-only earnings. Check See your live stream’s metrics for the available reporting context.

YouTube’s partner earnings overview states that Watch Page partners receive 55% of net revenues from ads displayed or streamed on public videos, subject to the applicable module. This is a revenue-share term, not a Hindi or English CPM benchmark. YouTube also cautions: “There are no guarantees under the YouTube partner agreement about how much or whether you’ll be paid.” See YouTube partner earnings overview.
Eligible YouTube Partner Program creators may have additional live-stream monetization options, including memberships and Shopping, alongside ads. Keep those separate if the question is ad earnings; YouTube outlines the options in Tips on how to make money on YouTube – Live.

How to interpret the result
- Higher total ad revenue: that stream earned more estimated ad revenue over the matched period; check audience size and ad delivery to understand the difference.
- Higher playback-based CPM, lower total revenue: advertisers paid more per ad-supported playback on that stream, but it may have had fewer views, fewer monetized playbacks or fewer ad impressions.
- Similar revenue per 1,000 views, different totals: audience volume may account for much of the total difference.
- Revenue changes alongside geography or season: those factors may help explain the pattern, but the comparison does not isolate language as its cause.
- RPM differs from estimated ad revenue: non-ad sources included in RPM may be affecting the overall monetization figure.
