To close a prediction-market account, first settle or close open positions, cancel any required open orders, and withdraw your available balance using the platform’s supported method. Then follow its account settings process. Polymarket calls this deletion; Kalshi calls it deactivation. Neither process necessarily erases every record.
Before you close the account
Account closure, position management, and withdrawing money are separate steps. Check your positions and open orders before starting: an unsettled position can remain exposed to an outcome, and an order may still execute. Then check the platform’s current instructions for its withdrawal methods, eligibility requirements, and any verification it requires.

Close or delete a Polymarket account
Polymarket’s Help Center account-deletion instructions, dated June 25, 2026, require you to close all open positions and withdraw all funds from your Polymarket wallet before deleting the account. Once those conditions are met, use the deletion option in Settings. The platform says the profile and associated personal data are deleted in line with its Privacy Policy, although some information may be retained where law or regulation requires it. Read Polymarket’s account-deletion instructions.
Withdraw funds from Polymarket
Polymarket’s withdrawal instructions, dated January 12, 2026, direct users to open Portfolio, choose Withdraw, enter a recipient address, and select a token, amount, and network before confirming. Check the address, asset, and network carefully before submission; supported choices can depend on the current withdrawal flow. Read Polymarket’s withdrawal instructions.

Deleting your account does not remove past transactions from a public blockchain. Polymarket says that history remains visible on-chain after account removal.
Deactivate a Kalshi account
Kalshi’s Help Center deactivation instructions, dated August 13, 2026, require you to close every open position, cancel every resting order, and withdraw Kalshi funds until the balance is $0. Then open Account & security in settings, scroll to Deactivate your account, and confirm. Kalshi says its representatives cannot manually deactivate an account for you. Read Kalshi’s account-deactivation instructions.

Kalshi describes this as deactivation, not full deletion: it stops trading and account access. The company says it must retain some personal information for identity verification, compliance, and security because it is a federally regulated financial exchange. Do not assume deactivation erases account records.

Choose a Kalshi withdrawal method

Kalshi crypto withdrawals
Kalshi’s crypto-withdrawal instructions, dated August 24, 2026, say to open Transfers, choose Withdraw from Kalshi, select Crypto, and follow the on-screen steps to provide a wallet address and complete the transaction. The article says a prior crypto deposit is required, document verification may be required, and there is no crypto withdrawal fee. It gives 30 minutes as a typical arrival time, not a guarantee for every account or transfer. US processing uses Zero Hash; international users are handled through a separate provider. Read Kalshi’s crypto-withdrawal instructions.
What withdrawal timing does—and does not—tell you
A withdrawal request being processed or transmitted is not the same as money arriving in your bank account or wallet. Kalshi Rulebook v1.24 says Kalshi transmits a member’s withdrawal request to its Clearing House within one business day; that is a transmission deadline, not a promise of receipt within one business day. The rulebook also allows funds to be retained for unsatisfied obligations and permits withdrawals to be suspended or denied in specified circumstances, including legal or regulatory barriers or funds relevant to an investigation. Read Kalshi Rulebook v1.24.

For any method, confirm the destination details and review any account-specific requirements before submitting. A platform’s stated typical timing is an estimate, not a guaranteed end-to-end settlement time.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf you want a break rather than account closure
Kalshi documents voluntary self-exclusion for a selected term and points users to SelfExclude.io for broader exclusions across participating platforms. Close positions first: Kalshi says you will not be able to sell them during a self-exclusion period. Self-exclusion does not itself withdraw funds or close your account. Read Kalshi’s self-exclusion guidance.
