To clear Samsung Keyboard’s recently used emojis, clear the keyboard app’s data: open Settings > Apps > Samsung Keyboard > Storage > Clear data, then confirm. This resets more than the Recent list, so keyboard preferences and personalization may also be removed.
Clear Recent emojis on Samsung Keyboard
- Open Settings and tap Apps (called Applications on some versions).
- If Samsung Keyboard is missing, open the Apps screen menu and enable Show system apps.
- Tap Samsung Keyboard > Storage > Clear data, then confirm.
- Open a text field and use emojis. The Recent section will repopulate as you use them.
Samsung Community expert guidance says clearing Samsung Keyboard data removes its recently used emoji list. The exact labels and available options can vary by Galaxy model and software version.
What gets reset when you clear Samsung Keyboard data?
Clear data is a broader reset than deleting one emoji or clearing only the Recent list. It may also remove keyboard preferences and personalized data. If you are trying to remove personalized word predictions rather than emoji history, first check Samsung Keyboard settings for Erase personalized predictions, a narrower control. Its availability and menu location can vary by version.
Can you delete one emoji or turn off Recent?
Samsung Community expert guidance says there is no supported setting to stop Samsung Keyboard from proposing recently used emojis; emojis you use will appear in Recent again. The guidance does not describe a control for deleting a single emoji from that list. Clearing the keyboard’s app data is the documented reset, but it is temporary: using emojis adds them to Recent again.

Hide or rearrange emoji shortcuts instead
If the issue is clutter in the emoji panel rather than the Recent history, edit its shortcut row. In Samsung Messages, open a conversation, tap the emoji icon, swipe left, and tap Settings. Switch emoji or sticker shortcuts on or off, or tap Edit to drag shortcuts into a different order. This changes the shortcut row; it does not erase recently used emojis.
Alternate route through Samsung Keyboard settings
On some Galaxy software versions, you can reach the same data controls from the keyboard: open a text field, tap the keyboard’s Settings button, select About Samsung Keyboard, tap the information icon, then open Storage > Clear data. If those labels are unavailable, use the Settings app route instead. Samsung notes that menus and options vary by device and software version.
