Keep the folio separate from the tablet when deciding how to clean it. The Paper Pure itself has a matte glass writing surface and its own device-care requirements. A technique suitable for the tablet screen would not automatically be suitable for the Sleeve Folio’s exterior, lining, seams or padding.

Prepare the folio without risking the tablet
- Remove the Paper Pure and Marker. Take both out before inspecting or handling the sleeve. This prevents a damp or dirty surface from transferring onto the tablet, writing surface or Marker.
- Close the folio and choose a clean, dry work area. Use a stable surface away from food, drinks, radiators, direct sun and loose grit. Do not clean over a sink where the folio could fall into water.
- Check the current instructions for your exact accessory. Start at the official Paper Pure page and support site. Product availability, accessory listings and care instructions can change, so use the current pages rather than an old screenshot or a generic case-care article.
- Identify the problem before choosing an action. Decide whether you are dealing with loose dust, a dry mark, an unknown stain, a fresh spill, or structural damage. If you cannot identify the material or liquid involved, use the “unknown” path below and do not add a cleaner.

For loose dust and dry particles
- Remove the tablet and Marker and keep them away from the work area.

- Look into folds and corners under ordinary light. If a particle is lodged, do not force a pointed object into the seam or scrape the surface.

For a small dry mark of unknown material
Do not assume that a visible mark is ordinary dirt. Without material guidance, adding water or a cleaning product can spread dye, drive liquid into padding, alter the finish or leave a ring. For a fresh liquid spill
- Remove the Paper Pure and Marker immediately and place them on a separate dry surface.
- Keep the folio open and still. Do not close it around the tablet, squeeze the padding or shake liquid deeper into a seam.
- Do not add another liquid to “rinse” the spill. The folio’s absorbent layers, surface finish and construction are not specified on the linked pages.
- Keep it away from heaters, hair dryers and direct high heat. Record what spilled, when it happened and which area was affected.
- Contact reMarkable support for model-specific advice before returning the devices to the sleeve. If moisture has reached the Paper Pure or Marker, follow device-support guidance for those items separately.
For an oily, adhesive or colored substance
Do not use solvent, stain remover, detergent, alcohol, oil, adhesive remover or an abrasive implement as an experiment. Daily habits that prevent most folio damage
- Keep the sleeve closed during transport. The folio is intended to wrap around and protect the Paper Pure and Marker. Closing it also uses the wake-and-lock behavior described on the product page.
- Carry the Marker in its intended position. Do not place loose pens, keys, coins, cables or grit inside the sleeve with the tablet. Hard objects can press into the cover or the tablet’s writing surface.
- Avoid overstuffing. Extra items can stretch the closure, distort the padding and force dirt into folds. If the sleeve no longer closes naturally, remove the extra load rather than compressing it.
- Keep food and drinks separate. A closed folio is not a waterproof container. Use a different compartment in a bag for bottles and containers that could leak.
- Keep it off dirty or wet surfaces. Desks, café tables, vehicle seats and floors can transfer oils and grit to the exterior and then to the tablet when the sleeve is closed.
- Handle by supported areas. Lift the folio without pulling on a single corner, seam or closure. Repeated one-sided force can create deformation even when the exterior looks clean.
- Give it ventilation after humid use. If the sleeve has been in a damp environment, leave it empty and open in a normal indoor area. Do not seal residual humidity around the Paper Pure.
- Inspect periodically. Check the closure, edges, folds and padding for moisture, trapped grit, loose stitching or changes in shape before inserting the tablet.
Keep tablet care separate from folio care
The Paper Pure support page describes the device as a paper tablet with a matte glass writing surface and publishes device dimensions. Those are tablet details, not instructions for cleaning the separate Sleeve Folio. Do not transfer screen-cleaning advice to the cover, and do not use the folio’s condition as evidence that the tablet is dry or safe to operate.

Before putting the Paper Pure back, check that the sleeve is free of visible moisture and loose grit. Check the tablet and Marker separately for liquid, residue or particles. If either device was exposed to a spill, keep it out of the folio while you obtain device-specific support.

- Putting it in a washing machine, dryer or dishwasher.
- Applying soap, detergent, disinfectant, alcohol, solvent, stain remover, oil or adhesive remover.
