Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsTake the phone out of the case, then use only the gentlest method approved for that exact case and finish. For cases whose maker permits it, mix mild soap or dishwashing liquid with warm water, wipe lightly with a soft cloth or sponge, rinse away residue, and let the case dry completely before reinstalling it. Do not assume alcohol, disinfectant wipes, solvents, bleach, abrasive cleaners, or a brush are safe for a printed surface.
Why printed cases need a more careful method
A printed phone case has more than a shell to clean. Its artwork may sit under a clear coating, on a film, or directly on a textured surface. A cleaner that is acceptable for a bare glass or metal phone can still affect the case’s ink, coating, texture, or finish. That is why case-care instructions differ by maker and model.

BURGA’s support guidance is the clearest general example for a printed case: use mild soap or dishwashing liquid mixed with warm water, a soft cloth or sponge, light pressure, thorough rinsing, and complete drying. BURGA Support also states: “We recommend avoiding any harsh chemicals, alcohol, disinfectant wipes or abrasive cleaners as they could damage the print.” That is product guidance from BURGA, not a guarantee for every case material.
Other manufacturers set different boundaries. RhinoShield allows some cleaning approaches for its products but cautions that rubbing alcohol should stay off printed parts. Pela says its clear and printed cases should be hand-washed with very gentle soap and warm water, without cleaning agents, alcohol, or brushes. Speck’s instructions mention a soft cloth or a toothbrush. These differences make the case maker’s own instructions the controlling rule.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Check these details before using water
- Identify the exact case and finish. A clear, printed, leather-like, fabric, silicone, or textured case can have different care limits. Look for the model’s care page, packaging, or manual.
- Separate the phone from the case. Speck explicitly instructs users to remove its case before cleaning. Samsung likewise advises removing covers and accessories before cleaning a Galaxy phone; that guidance is for the phone, not a universal case-cleaning instruction.
- Read the exclusions first. If the maker prohibits water, soap, alcohol, brushes, or a particular tool, do not substitute this method.
- Prepare a clean work area. Set the phone aside away from the sink, remove grit from the surface you will use, and have a dry, soft cloth ready.
- Inspect the print. Note existing peeling, cracks, bubbling, or fading. Cleaning cannot reliably restore damaged artwork, and rubbing a loose edge can make it worse.
Safe cleaning procedure for a case whose maker permits soap and water
-
Remove the phone and accessories
Take the phone completely out of the case. Remove any card holder, detachable ring, insert, or other accessory that the maker says to remove. Keep the phone away from splashes; this procedure is for the empty case.
-
Mix a mild solution
Use warm water and a small amount of mild soap or dishwashing liquid when the case instructions allow it. The goal is a lightly soapy solution, not concentrated detergent. Do not add alcohol, bleach, solvent, disinfectant, abrasive powder, or another chemical unless the case maker specifically approves it.
-
Wet the cleaning tool, not the printed case unnecessarily
Use a soft cloth or sponge approved by the maker. Dampen it in the solution and wring it so it is moist rather than dripping. Excess liquid can collect around seams, buttons, camera openings, or layered edges.

Wipe with light pressure
Clean the inside and outside with short, gentle passes. Let the damp cloth lift the dirt instead of pressing hard or scrubbing. Pay attention to corners and the rim, but do not grind grit across the artwork. If the cloth picks up visible grit, rinse it before continuing so the particles do not act like an abrasive.
-
Treat the printed area as the most delicate surface
Keep strokes controlled and avoid repeated rubbing over one spot. Do not test a new chemical on a hidden corner unless the maker’s instructions permit that product; a hidden test does not prove long-term compatibility with the visible print.

Rinse away soap residue
Rinse the case as the maker directs. For a washable case, use clean water until no slippery soap film remains. Residue left on the surface can attract more dirt or leave a dull-looking film.
-
Dry completely
Shake off excess water, then blot with a soft dry cloth and leave the case open to air-dry. Speck and BURGA both instruct users to dry and air the case before putting it back on. Do not reinstall the phone while moisture remains in seams, corners, or around openings.

Recheck before reinstalling
Look for damp spots, soap streaks, loosened print, or trapped debris. If the case is fully dry and intact, reinstall the phone without forcing it against a wet or gritty edge.
How major case-care instructions differ
The following comparison shows why a universal recipe is unsafe. It summarizes the named makers’ published guidance; it does not establish that one maker’s rule applies to another maker’s case.
| Maker | Cleaning agent or method | Tool guidance | Alcohol and printed areas | Rinse and drying instruction |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BURGA | Mild soap or dishwashing liquid with warm water | Soft cloth or sponge; brush guidance is not stated | Avoid harsh chemicals, alcohol, disinfectant wipes, and abrasive cleaners because they could damage the print | Rinse thoroughly and let the case dry completely |
| RhinoShield | Product-specific cleaning guidance | Tool guidance varies by product | Keep rubbing alcohol off printed parts | Follow the product’s care direction |
| Pela | Hand-wash with very gentle soap and warm water; no cleaning agents or alcohol | Do not use brushes on clear or printed cases | Alcohol is not permitted under its stated case-care guidance | Hand-wash and dry according to the case instructions |
| Speck | Soap and water | Soft cloth or toothbrush is mentioned | Alcohol guidance is not stated in the cited instruction | Rinse, dry, and air the case before reinstalling |
Why alcohol and disinfectant wipes are risky on printed parts
Alcohol is not automatically a safe upgrade when soap and water leave a mark. BURGA warns against alcohol and disinfectant wipes for its printed cases. RhinoShield specifically says rubbing alcohol should not touch printed parts. Pela’s care directions exclude alcohol for its clear and printed cases. These warnings cover different products, but they point to the same practical decision: do not use alcohol on artwork unless the maker expressly says it is safe for that exact finish.

Disinfectant wipes can contain alcohol or other active chemicals, and their textured fabric can add rubbing force. “Kills germs” on a wipe label does not demonstrate compatibility with a phone-case print. If you already used a wipe, stop rubbing, rinse only if the maker permits rinsing, and let the case dry before inspecting it. Do not apply another chemical in an attempt to neutralize the first one.
Brushes, toothbrushes, and scrubbing tools
Brush advice is a clear example of why copied cleaning tips fail. Speck mentions a soft toothbrush for its cases, while Pela says not to use brushes on its printed cases. BURGA recommends a soft cloth or sponge and does not establish brush approval in the cited guidance.
Use a brush only when the exact case instructions permit one. If permitted, use the stated soft tool and minimal pressure, and keep it away from loose print edges. If the instructions are silent, choose a soft cloth or sponge rather than assuming a toothbrush is harmless. Never use a stiff household brush, scouring pad, melamine foam, abrasive powder, or a blade to lift a stain.
What to do when dirt remains after gentle cleaning
Stop and reassess before escalating. The sources do not establish a guaranteed stain-removal method that preserves every design, so a stubborn mark may be safer to leave than to attack with an unapproved solvent.
For a greasy film
Repeat the maker-approved mild-soap wash with a clean, damp soft cloth and light pressure. Rinse thoroughly so soap does not remain. Do not switch to alcohol merely because the residue feels oily.

For grit in a seam or corner
Use the damp cloth’s edge to lift it away, working from the seam outward. Rinse the cloth frequently. Avoid dragging a dry particle across the printed face.
For a dark transfer or ink mark
Do not apply solvent, bleach, abrasive cleaner, or disinfectant wipe without explicit maker approval. Those products may change the artwork even if they remove the mark. If the print is already scuffed or peeling, further rubbing can enlarge the damaged area.
For peeling, bubbling, or faded artwork
Cleaning is unlikely to reverse physical or chemical damage. Stop when the surface shows lifting, color transfer, or a change in gloss. Document the condition and consult the case maker rather than trying progressively stronger products.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Keep phone-cleaning instructions separate from case-cleaning instructions
Samsung’s “Keep your Galaxy phone clean” guidance concerns the phone’s named surfaces and tells users to remove covers and accessories before cleaning the device. It should not be read as approval to put a printed case through the same process. A KDDI au device manual likewise warns that certain cleaners could erase printing on a device’s outer cover; that is a device-specific warning, not a test of every phone case.
Clean the phone and the case as two separate jobs. Follow the phone manufacturer’s directions for the phone, and the case manufacturer’s directions for the case. Keep the phone out of the wet cleaning area until the case has dried completely.

Drying and reinstalling without trapping moisture
- Open every accessible area. Leave the case unlatched and separated from inserts so air can reach seams and corners.
- Blot instead of rubbing. A soft dry cloth can remove beads of water without adding friction to the print.
- Allow full air-drying. BURGA and Speck both call for complete drying or airing before reuse. The case should feel dry at the rim, camera opening, button covers, and interior—not merely dry on the artwork.
- Do not use aggressive heat. The cited case-care guidance does not establish a hair-dryer or heater as safe for printed finishes, so air-drying is the conservative choice.
- Inspect the phone-facing side. Any grit or moisture left inside can transfer back to the phone or press against the case when it is fitted.
Common mistakes and the safer correction
| Mistake | Why it can damage the design | Safer correction |
|---|---|---|
| Cleaning while the phone is still installed | Water or residue can reach the device, and the case cannot dry properly around it | Remove the phone and clean the empty case |
| Using an alcohol wipe by default | BURGA, RhinoShield, and Pela restrict or warn against alcohol on printed areas | Use only the case maker’s approved cleaner |
| Scrubbing with a toothbrush because it worked on another case | Speck and Pela give different brush directions | Check the exact model; otherwise use a soft cloth or sponge |
| Choosing an abrasive pad for a transfer mark | Abrasives can scuff the coating or print | Repeat a gentle soap-and-water wash if approved, then stop |
| Putting the case back on while damp | Moisture can remain in seams and openings | Rinse as directed and air-dry completely |
| Assuming a phone-cleaning product is case-safe | Device surfaces and printed case finishes are different materials | Follow separate instructions for phone and case |
A conservative decision rule for uncertain cases
- Find the maker’s instruction. Search the exact model and finish, not just the phone model.
- Prefer the least aggressive approved option. If both a damp cloth and a stronger cleaner are listed, start with the damp cloth.
- Protect the print from friction. Use light pressure, a clean soft tool, and short passes.
- Stop at the first sign of change. Color transfer, tackiness, clouding, peeling, or altered gloss means the method is not appropriate.
- Do not improvise a stronger chemical. An unapproved solvent can create permanent damage that a stain would not have caused.
Questions readers commonly ask
Can I use rubbing alcohol on any printed phone case?
No. BURGA warns against alcohol, RhinoShield says to keep rubbing alcohol off printed parts, and Pela excludes alcohol from its stated care method. Use alcohol only if the exact case maker explicitly approves it for the printed finish.
Is a microfiber cloth required?
No requirement for microfiber is established in the cited guidance. BURGA permits a soft cloth or sponge. A clean, soft cloth is the evidence-based requirement; the fiber type is not specified.
Can I use a toothbrush to clean the edges?
Only when the exact maker permits it. Speck mentions a soft toothbrush, while Pela says not to use brushes on its printed cases. If instructions are silent, use a soft cloth or sponge.
What if the case still looks dirty after washing?
Do not jump to bleach, solvent, alcohol, abrasive cleaner, or a disinfectant wipe. Repeat the approved gentle method once with a clean tool, then stop if the mark remains or the design begins to change.
How often should I clean it?
The cited sources do not provide a universal cleaning schedule or germ-reduction target. Clean when the case needs it, using the maker’s directions, and avoid unnecessary repeated rubbing of the printed surface.
Can I clean the phone and case together?
No. Remove the phone first. Follow the phone manufacturer’s instructions for the device and the case maker’s instructions for the printed cover.
