In Pakistan, a bearer prize bond claim requires the prescribed claim form, a valid CNIC photocopy, the original winning bond and a photocopy of the bond signed on the back by the applicant. National Savings says claims up to Rs. 1,250 can be lodged at specified National Savings, scheduled-bank or State Bank offices; claims above Rs. 1,250 go only to State Bank branches. Submit the claim within six years of the draw.
First identify which kind of prize bond you have
The claim process depends on whether the bond is a bearer bond or a registered premium prize bond. The steps and document checklist below apply to bearer bonds. National Savings describes a bearer bond as belonging to the person holding the instrument, so keeping the original safe is essential. National Savings explains bearer-bond ownership and claims.

National Savings lists registered premium prize bonds in Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 40,000 denominations. Their purchase application has its own documentation requirements; those are not the bearer-bond prize-claim documents. See the National Savings premium prize bond information.

- A completed prescribed prize-money claim form. The State Bank’s forms index lists the Prize Money Claim Application Form PB-23.
- A photocopy of a valid CNIC.
- The original winning prize bond.
- A photocopy of the winning bond, signed by the applicant on the back.
National Savings says the claim form is free. Check the form and the receiving office’s instructions for any additional completion requirements before submitting.

Where to submit the claim
National Savings sets the following venue guidance by prize amount. Confirm that the branch you plan to visit accepts claims before travelling; National Bank separately publishes a list of designated branches.

For a bank visit, check the bank’s designated-branch information, such as National Bank’s prize bond branch details. Do not assume every branch of a listed bank handles claims.

How to claim bearer prize bond winnings
- Check the draw result. Make sure the bond number is a winner in the relevant draw.
- Allow several working days before lodging the claim. National Savings gives different approximate estimates in its FAQ—three or four working days in one answer and four or five in another—because winning-bond lists must be prepared and distributed. Confirm timing with the office where you intend to file rather than treating either estimate as an exact earliest date.
- Complete form PB-23. Use the State Bank’s listed Prize Money Claim Application Form PB-23 and provide the requested details.
- Prepare the full document set. Include your valid CNIC photocopy, the original winning bond and a photocopy signed on its back by you.
- Submit at the appropriate office. Use the prize-amount threshold above and verify that the specific branch accepts claims.
- File within the deadline. The claim must be made within six years of the draw date, according to National Savings.
Tax deducted from prize money
National Savings’ FAQ, accessed on October 4, 2026, lists withholding tax deducted at source of 15% for filers and 30% for non-filers. Tax rules can change, so check the current National Savings prize bond guidance when making a claim.

Damaged bond
National Savings says a damaged bond may be considered for payment subject to clearance under the rules. Its FAQ does not set out the assessment steps, so ask the receiving office how to have the specific bond assessed before relying on the standard document checklist.

Lost bearer bond
National Savings says a bearer bond belongs to its holder and explains that payment is not stopped merely because the bond has been reported lost. The official guidance reviewed does not describe a routine replacement or recovery process for a lost bearer bond. Physical possession of the original is therefore important; contact National Savings promptly if yours is missing.
More than one winning draw
National Savings says claims for two separate draws may be lodged together using separate applications, provided each claim is still within six years of its own draw date.

Registered premium bond winnings: no separate claim form
For registered premium bonds, National Savings says prize money and profit are credited directly to the investor’s bank account, with no separate application form required to claim either payment. This differs from purchasing a premium bond: the purchase application calls for a CNIC copy, an account-maintenance certificate showing account title and IBAN or bank details, a tax certificate for filers, and nominee CNIC details.
