Claim the game before the monthly offer changes
PlayStation refreshes its monthly game selection each calendar month. The titles available change, so add any game you want to keep access to while it appears in the current offer. Claiming it means adding it to your account’s library; starting or completing a download is a separate step.

How to add a monthly game on PS5
- From the Games home screen, scroll right and select PlayStation Plus.
- Open the Benefits tab and choose Monthly Games.
- Highlight the game you want and select it to start the download. The game is added to your library as part of this process.
PlayStation’s official support instructions provide the console steps; menu labels can change with system software.
How to add a monthly game on PS4
- From the function screen, scroll right and select PlayStation Plus.
- Choose Monthly Games and highlight the title you want.
- Select Add to Library. Choose Download to install it now, or leave the download for later.
The library action is what matters for retaining the monthly entitlement after the offer changes; the download does not need to finish during the offer period.

Can you download a claimed game after it leaves the offer?
Yes. PlayStation’s official US games FAQ says: “You can add the monthly games to your game library to download and play at any time as long as you have an active membership plan.” In practice, claim the game while it is offered, then download it later from your library when you want to play. Access is not a permanent purchase: playing a claimed monthly game requires an active PlayStation Plus membership.
Start a download remotely
PlayStation supports starting a download to PS5 or PS4 remotely through a web browser or the PlayStation App. The precise interface steps are in PlayStation’s linked browser and app guides; check those instructions for the current buttons and screens. Remote downloading does not replace claiming the monthly game during its offer period.

Monthly games are not the Game Catalog
Monthly games are a benefit on Essential, Extra, and Premium plans. The Game Catalog is an Extra and Premium benefit, while the Classics Catalog is a Premium benefit. Catalog games may have removal dates and leave the service; that is different from a monthly game you already added to your library. See PlayStation’s US games FAQ and plan details.

What PS4 players should know
PlayStation’s US Important Notice says that from January 2026, PS4 titles will be added less regularly to PlayStation Plus Monthly Game line-ups and Game Catalogue updates. This is a change in frequency, not an announcement that PS4 support or monthly games have ended; the notice does not say PS4 titles will never appear.
